As a Trini you take for granted how much we actually are cross cultured.. or culturally aware (CQ). Just by the way he spoke it shows it. Trini's are cultured to understand different cultures and adapt accordingly. Him choosing to speak a little more "Yankee" was his culture showing he knows how to speak in that setting. However him dropping his little local "twang" now an again shows the message he trying get forward. This was great. Trini to the world!

In Holland most of popular/urban music and music that is played at party’s is heavenly influenced by dancehall and Caribbean music. We don't have as much hip-hop playing in clubs and if they do play hip-hop it has a dancehall or reggea kind of vibe to it. Because of the artists and most black people here are from Suriname or Curacao (former colonies of Holland).

@@tdatrandomguysdwl I listen to soca all the time. It sounds like a soca song to me and even to these same announcers. They said in another interview they thought it was soca. So I'm not the only one. Americans/some Canadians think so Caribbean music is reggae or dancehall because Jamaica has a very dominant culture. I can tell you Afrobeats also sounds like Soca but people still probably say it sounds like Dancehall because most people have no idea what soca is.

Machel needs to stop talking yankee every American interview he does. He wants to talk about Jamaicans but they represent their accent proudly and don't switch it up. If someone wants to hear how a Trini sounds by listening to Machel, they will only hear a forced American accent.
