Exactly, i brought this controller yesterday out of pure shopping addiction, and the first review i tried to see was from this guy, cus he makes such detailed and technical reviews of these 3rd party controllers that helps to ease my buyer's remorse quite a bit
I bought this control and I must correct you, the battery is actually 600mAh, what you read as 500, are the charging rating values (5V-500mA). It's just a clarification, thanks to your excellent videos I got to know this control that costs an estimated 46 dollars in my country's local money
Hall effect sticks should be standard on every future controller. Or, at least have the option to buy a more expensive stock controller with hall effect sticks The 8bitdo ultimate controller is absolutely fantastic
but but your favorite big ass corporation can't sell you another one in 1 year because your megahard ultimate elite series 69 EXTREME controller which costed you 420$ broke down after 1 year and 42 minutes which is actually out of the warranty window. I've also ordered the 8bitdo ultimate BT controller and am looking forward to use it. Had a Gulikit KKP2 but despite the astonishing build quality I was very disappointed with the slowmo 100hz polling rate. I returned it. this controller was very much top notch and would score a 10/10 in my book if it had that 4ms or less response time like the 8bitdo.
@Synt0xx lol I pity the people who spend that much on a controller My aim cost less than half that and I'm perfectly content with it Hopefully you enjoy the ultimate I bought it for switch but I presume it's the same thing on the Xbox The sticks are fluid man the best analogs I've ever used even over the ps3 analogs
The fact the Dualsense Edge still has regular potentiometer sticks is pathetic. Anyone who would buy a controller at that price is going to use it heavily, so those sticks are only gonna last a few months at best. And them being easily replaceable is good, but buying more sticks really shouldn't be the solution. Hoping that someone makes hall sticks that are easy enough to put in modern controllers
Hello there Kevin, thanks for reviewing this controller I have a little bit more information regarding this controller. First of all, the warranty is only 1 year with this controller and within 180 days, they would replace your controller instead of fixing it. Second: The software aka the driver for this controller is still being developed, there's currently a testing version shared in their community, however it is super buggy and not recommended, the proper release should come out at the end of this month. Third: They are also making a dock, it will be sold at around 10 - 20 USD, however, the release date for it is currently unknown. Fourth: There are currently some issues with quality control with this controller, some units shipped have uncalibrated joysticks which require manual calibration, for example, the one you reviewed actually has this problem, the controller should have an exact 0.3% circularity, however, what you have is 0.4%, which won't be noticeable in gameplay, but it is still recommended to calibrate the joysticks or get a replacement. Fifth: The price for this controller is actually 199 CNY (28 USD), selling it for 60 USD is very much unreasonable, in fact, from what I've heard, there will be a sale soon, at around June 18th, which the controller will be heavily discounted. That's all, once again thanks for the review.
For 28$ that is one hell of a deal, but at 60$ it is competing with the 8bitdo Ultimate and I don't think it can match it in quality, functionality, or software. The 8bitdo also comes with a dock. So I do hope they lower the price pretty quick, because a 30$ controller with Hall effect sticks is a game changer for sure
@@RukaIXR don’t believe the 8bitdo is anywhere near competing with this though. For 60 bucks almost anyone would still pick this, that controller only has old features and is more susceptible to failure and drift.
Spent the dollar to reserve one not realizing it didn’t have trigger stops. Would love to see a review of the G6. The Hall effect sticks plus the Xbox controller shape is super appealing to me as long as the execution is good. Keep up the great work!!
Hit up aimcontrollers preferably when they have a 60$ off coupon Mine is fully loaded out with smart triggers and it cost me 225$ after tax, I understand that's quite a lot of money, but when you go to these other companies it's a steal of a price
@@GraveMemories I have a dualsense edge, Astro c40, and a couple of custom DS4/Dualsense controllers already. I’m just a controller addict 🤣. Probably why I love this channel so much.
Sup man my G5 Pro just came in and I improved the rear buttons by opening up the controller and putting small squares of painters tape over the switches. Made them so much easier to press as well as allowing me to press them pretty much anywhere on the plastic piece.
Although the Machenike feels premium, I think the rear buttons annoyed me too much to recommend it. I say go with a GameSir controller like the G7 HE. I enjoyed my time with the original T4 Kaleid.
late to the party but this is by far my favorite controller on the market right now. I'd love to see you review the G6, as I think that's the only thing it could compete against. The complaints (hard press back buttons, bad d-pad), for some reason I love it. The d-pad is excellent for my personal use, mostly cause it's a great size (Razer and FlyDigi d-pad is wayy too big.) The back buttons needing a harder press is a plus for me cause they're there when I need it, but that extra pressure is great cause I can't accidentally click it like the PowerA Fusion 3, even the Elite 2/Edge are way to easy to actuate. I don't see a difference between these and say the Scuf Instinct back buttons. Cosmetically this is my favorite bar none. Etc etc etc, I really really like this one, the mechanical buttons, the shape, the stick/trigger tension is the best for my personal use. After this, I feel comfortable not purchasing another controller for awhile.
Yo! I'm late to the party too, but I'm wondering if it's still alright 2 weeks later. I've been eyeing this controller and the 8bitdo ultimate. I personally love the aesthetics of the g5 bcs that detachable frosted faceplate is just OOOh so sexy. But I also heard the 8bitdo ult was more worth it since it comes with a dock to charge it too, and I love the aesthetics of that one as well. Simple, and lights on home button and dock only. Whaddya think?
@@riffska yes aesthetically it's gorgeous. It's one of thr most bang for your buck gamepads out there, functionally. I now agree with other people the back buttons are incredibly hard to actuate. I was able to update the firmware but still on the software end it lacks a lot. I adore it but it's like 9/10, almost perfect. 8bitdo Ultimate is probably the way to go. Or Gamesir
You've gain a subscriber! I really appreciate how detailed your review is! Planning to get this controller and I'm glad that I found your channel! Thank you
@@GamerHeavenOfficial Wait fr? That sounds dope🔥! Can’t wait. But please make it so it’s easy to buy in eu. Only aim controllers have a EU channel for custom controllers. And until they make more options for Xbox controllers, I’ll wait. ✌🏻 great video as always.
This is quite an impressive controller for the price I wish stock controllers had stick modules like that and personally I think facebuttons should all be tactile
You know what? It's available for RMB199 (USD28) in China right now and comes with a carrying case. At this price point there is absolutely no competition for this feature set. Even a pair of hall effect joystick replacement for Steam Deck would set you back about RMB139.
I have 3 of these and cannot get a single one of them to connect to their 2.4 ghz dongle. Your rant is well justified. I do not understand how this aspect is so difficult.
I feel like the G6 is not necessarily an upgrade to this (I own one). For one, the G6's latency is a mess, no rgb lights, no dedicated software (it says on their lazada page that it has a software), most importantly the sticks on the G6 is tuned really weirdly, the left thumbstick is a square, yes a square not a circle and the right side is a normal circle. Although there is a firmware where this is fixed the downside of using that firmware is that it is an outdated one. If you ever get the chance to review the G6 please do I would also love your thoughts on it.
@@chanderule605There is a firmware update that bumps up the polling rate of the controller to 100hz, but that's only on wired. No reason to use the 2.4ghz as it is slower than using bluetooth and the firmware update never addressed these latency issues.
Heyo, stallionette checking in. Could I ask for a favor in future controller reviews? When reviewing these controllers, would you be able to say whether or not the rear paddles are remappable inside Steam? It's easily my favorite feature of the Elite 2, because I can remap per game, don't need any extra software, and don't need to fiddle with arcane button sequences or stored profiles. Thanks, and great review as always.
I mean, in my country this is about the best control that you can get under 1250 MXN or about 73 USD. Yeah, there is a weird tax in certain import techs, the 73USD price tag is accurate no to whom you buy it.
$1 pre order for $10 off, Id say its worth it. Want a more premium/wireless controller I dont have to worry is going to drift the month after I buy it. Definitely a huge upgrade from the core xbox controller
I got it for 20 brand new, I don't know what would beat it at that price honestly, yeah at 60 and even 40 there are better options, but considering I could get 2 or 3 for that price? Sign me up
Idk but those instructions seem fine to me, how is it confusing at all? Literally tells you to press two buttons, make the macro, and then press the fn button again to finish recording. Its a small complaint of mine but the "hieroglyphic" instruction manual was brought up so many times and it seemed good enough usually.
Thanks for the in depth review! I ordered this just trusting epomaker and it seems like it lives up to the marketing lol. Quick question: How would you say the D-Pad compares to a normal clicky X-Box Series D-Pad? I use the one on mine quite a bit in Trackmania when I need instant steering and I really just care about the clicky-ness for two directions (left and right). Given the things you said in the vid it would probably be around the same, right?
Before watching your vid, I got this for 55.99 on 24 June. The price went up to 65.99 on 4 July. They have just finished the manufacturing process and mine is now on the way. Shipped today, 10 July. Once it arrives from DHL (24.99 for expedited shipping) in 3-7 days (shipping from Shenzen, China) I will come back and post my thoughts. I had been using the 8BitDo Ultimate, but that controller is so small that it caused massive discomfort in my hands and made my left ring finger and pinky go to sleep sometimes so until this one arrives I am back to using a plain jane wireless Xbox controller while my laptop is plugged in to the TV playing Diablo 4. When not using on the TV and playing wired, I use my PS5 controller.
Hey thanks for the review, love how in depth you go and how many numbers you supply; however, I have a few questions still if you could help me. How does the gyro perform? Are there tests you can do like the one with the regular polling rate for gyro? Lastly, you said in your verdict there were other controllers for PC/switch with Hall effects you preferred over this one… which ones would those be? Looking for any controller that has switch pro/PS5 level gyro and Hall effects. If the rest of it happens to not suck that would be awesome too
Hey man, great review. I'm looking for a XSX controller replacement with hall effect sticks to use on the PC. Is the Kingkong 2 Pro my best choice for sub-$80?
So i found out that this company makes symmetrical ps layout style controllers. It's called, "Machenike g3s wireless/wired" I ordered one, should show up at my doorsteps end of the month. I'll let you know how it feels 🙂
So the dudes Mikenike (lol) and Epomaker both told me that it works with Xbox series x using a "third party receiver." Do you think this is true and if so, which do I buy? Thanks and great reviews btw. I'm a controller collector too.
I wish someone make a controller where you can easily replace (as in no soldering required) the joystick (the actual mechanical stick, not the cap), and the buttons. Obviously with membrane buttons you can easily replace that, but mechanical buttons are usually soldered thus hopefully for mechanical button, some company will use optical button because I don't know if it is because of the climate, but normal mechanical button on my mouse wear out quickly (basically developing double click within less than a year). As for the stick, even with hall effect stick, the spring part can wear out (basically you can end up having problem with centering unless you increase the dead zone), thus either you can easily replace the spring or the entire stick. Actually, if the stick is easily replaceable, I don't mind buying non hall effect stick. Dualsense Edge style is good, but a bit overkill for me since I don't mind opening a gamepad, thus I prefer the replacement stick to be as cheap as possible. Having said that, I probably won't buy a new gamepad anytime soon (currently have 5 perfectly working controller + several controllers with stick and button problems). I want to buy the standard PS5 stick (for playing those PS5 games on PC so I can enjoy the haptics and adaptive triggers), but I have the same relationship with those pot stick as I have with mouse switches, basically it wears quickly even when not in use! I'm really tempted to buy Edge, but it is a bit out of my budget which I can justify if not for the fact that replacement stick cost a lot (I can buy a perfectly good controller for the same price as a single stick module).
Nice to see more controllers with hall effect sticks. It should be a standard feature on every new controller going forward, unless the makers are assholes. That said, I don't see much reason to buy this particular controller with the massively superior Flydigi Vader 3 coming out soon.
Have one of these and well, thanks ! Your review also contributed to making the decision to buy it. Its great ! I did a search for the dock to charge it that way and lmao I found out there is a V2 of this lovely controller ! The Collectors Edition comes with a dock so guess what I did ? Bought it ofcourse ! Love it thusfar even though have a weird issue related to the battery indicator which Im testing out to find out what IS the actual issue. ( my guess its a firmware issue but not sure ) Wondering if you are going to review the G5 Pro V2 controller ?Would really like to hear your opinion. Have a great day ! Thanks again for the review !
Hey Kev, any recommendations on someone/a company that could fix stick drift? I don’t know how to solder and I have a month old battle beaver that already as full stick drift.. sent it back and when they sent it back to me the OTHER stick had full drift out of the box..
Hi just curious if someone plays tekken 8 here.. if you recommend this controller for t8? I not feeling it anymore on DS5 lately im stuck at fujin (rank on t8) and searching for just alternative controller
So at the end I'm lost, (I'm subscribing btw), I'm really lost, which then is the best controller for nintendo switch, I've been checking this one and the GuliKit KingKong Pro 2, but in your opinion, which is the best one out there, that worth my money?
Hey there really love your in-depth videos about Controllers and have a request for the hopefully foreseeable future. I am relatively finicky with peripherals in general and recently bought the wolverine v2 pro, even though it has offset joysticks (something i normally avoid). Unfortunately there is a huge problem with those, sometimes this model just doesn't recognize button presses or freezes during button presses and continues to perform the action long after button release. Because of that i have been very invested with research lately and have seen a bunch of your videos too. And apparently there is a flydigi vader 3 on the horizon that's already out in china but not for the rest of the world. Apparently it's already sold out in china too. And after my research i feel like that controller could be a competitive beast if it lives up to the hype. Hall effect joystick, magnetic trigger, tactile buttons among other things sound too good to be true. I am a bit worried about the backpaddles, but i am curious if you can get your hand on it and review it. Thanks for your time reading and thanks for the awesome content 👍
Hey men I've been some of your videos recently and its very helpful for me to pick a controller. Now Is this a good buy? I can get this for 24$ and the G6 at more or less the same price, or Should I get the flydigi direwolf 2 for 34$ or lesser If i can get a coupon and 39$ for the vader 3 pro Which should I get
Noticed that the buttons for the controller and the switch controller is not the same. Any ways on how to map the buttons to function similar to the button layout on the switch?
Love the vid I was just wondering you said you would link the 10ft cable extender in the description of your Victrix gambit video I was looking for a good one that can have the keep the same speed and quality as it would without the cable extender, please link one as I really need one.
Cool wall, it means I have to ask Gamer Heaven friend's counsel- is it better than the Vader 3 Pro for PC gaming (I plan to play Shenmue the father of open-world game, the first open-world games) focusing on leveling up Ryo's martial arts skills (still the deepend game mechanics after 26 years outside of dedicated fighting games). What is your favorite controller for PC gaming if it's okt to ask? God bless.
Thanks for honest straight review. Im retired living in Philippines and years since ive played my kids Ps3/4 and Wi. Currently getting into Skyrim via Steam on PC. I bought Machenike wired controller and its terrible as far as thumb pad response which makes navigating my little elf avitar in any kind of confrontation a nightmare. Even simple tasks like moving my curser on map is rediculous awkward overcompensating my movement. It was very cheap so I cant expect much. My question is 2 fold. Im playing on my laptop I3 . Does the PC matter in game performance? What is a good controller (similar to the easy accuracy) of my old PS4 controller? Thanks ✌️
Do you know if this controller is using linear actuators or the old rumble motors. Seems to the perfect controller for me but using old rumble motors would be a turnoff after getting used to the Dualsense vibrations. Great review btw.
I got mine a few days ago and I've had this issue where both thumb sticks are giving input to the upper left diagonal every few seconds... anyone else experiencing this?
Update for anyone else who may have this going on. Seems to be some kind of bluetooth issue. Wired and 2.4 are totally fine. Looks like the pc software is coming sometime in Aug, so hopefully that comes with a firmware/driver that squashes this. 100% agree with GH, the d-pad isn't great and the rear buttons are complete poo. But damn, it's sexy, feels good in hand, and those clicky face buttons are surprisingly nice. Also, that removable faceplate is hecka convenient for scrubbing this thing down after some shweaty gaming.
