This is the ultimate protective big brother move. Chris Pine is bleeding, he’s probably having a panic attack, dude is just frozen. But big brother doesn’t panic, & he scares off the whole damn town. Then Pine calms down.

Tanner is one of my favorite types of characters; wild, flawed and destructive but centered by such a full and authentic love of his brother that he'd unhesitatingly sacrifice himself to protect him. Usually characters with his violent tendencies end up being selfish or chaotic for chaos' sake, but Tanner really comes across as a man who - although settled into seeing the rest of the world as an 'enemy forever' - is still capable of enormous nobility and sacrifice when it comes to his little brother. He probably would have enjoyed a longer chase with those guys but opted for a machine-gun backed "Shoo fellas, my little brother's not having fun no more".

This was one of the most "Texas" movies that I've seen in my life...

This might be the first time in a film I've seen a character actually fire 30 bullets out of a 30 bullet magazine instead of 300 bullets out of a 30 bullet magazine

Tanner was insane and Marcus was right that he did what he did because he likes doing shit like that. But through that all he sacrificed himself to save his brother. And he saved his life in the bank. He was a great older brother. He knew Toby had way more to live for.

Jesus, the music is so sad here. You kinda sense where it's all heading just from the music. Fucking great movie. The best of 2016, IMO.

When I have a bad day I watch this clip and instantly feel better.

They can't look each other in the eye when they say "I love you" even though it's evident they truly do. It's not easy to explain but if you grew up hardscrabble you understand.

I was the only one laughing my head off when I first saw this in theatres when Foster pulled out the machine gun and started going to town on everybody chasing him and his brother. Even more so when I saw how quick they jumped back in their rides and hauled ass back to where they came from.

"Love you" and "go fuck yourself" the most real two brothers moment ever in a movie

Such a great Brother movie. So much goes unsaid in family. "I love you Toby. Mean it." It'd probably been years, maybe never, that he said it. It doesn't need to be said when it comes to family. The "Go fuck yourself" is a classic follow-up.

Ben Foster so criminally underrated. If you guys haven’t seen 3:10 to Yuma give it a try, he is amazing and sadistic in that as well

"Where you headed?"...... You get rare opportunities in life to see the look on a person's face when they've accepted inevitability. He knew the answer to that question. There were no illusions or talk of "everything is going to be okay". Just the grim reality.

Brothers. Tanner probably knew that the way he lived his life he’d probably be dead or in jail sooner than later, so in his mind why not do what he does best, crazy shit. But this time do it with a purpose, for his brother, I’m totally sure he went into helping Toby knowing he was gonna die helping his brother get away. Definitely a good brother, and you can tell despite all his faults Toby loved him, I mean at the end Toby was ready to avenge him when Marcus approached. True brothers.

Favorite scene of the film. Was not expecting that move at all!

Great scene all around. My only question is given the state it's set it in, why did none of those posse members have the firepower to match what Tanner had. Sure they're not going to have full-auto themselves, but no way none of them don't own more than a few ARs. The argument could be made they thought that kind of firepower would be overkill to stop a bank heist but there's like 10 of those guys all shooting, some with shotguns.

Great scene in the best movie I've seen in a long time. I don't know much about guns. I've seen people discard ammunition cartridges but I've never noticed someone taking the cartridge out, flipping it and putting it back in for more bullets to fire. Can someone explain? I think Foster knew he was going to die long before this scene but this is where it becomes so clear that his expression of love for his brother was his final one.

Am I the only one to notice... no Bullet holes in the trucks front and hoods.. lots of sparks but no holes. I’m sure there should have been radiator damage, broken lights and a tire blown somewhere between 3 30rd mags

Tanner did it because Toby asked him too its just that he liked doing it a bit too much it wasn't exactly a labor of love once they got started. On top of that Tanner was realistic about what was coming he knew what Toby wouldn't admit that they weren't getting through this without someone getting hurt probably killed whether them or others or both. Hence the gun and going to retrieve his rifles he had made his mind up that if or rather when it came to it he was going to do what he could to let Toby get away and raise his boys. His life was over but he got to end it doing something he believed was a good thing in helping his brother what was he supposed to go back to when this was over? Even if they got away it's without a nickel and Tanner knew he wasnt long without going back to prison as he said when asked how he stayed out a whole year? Its been difficult. It's more like Toby asking him to help gave him an excuse to do what he would enjoy doing but there being a purpose to it instead of as Marcus said spending all the money to just have an excuse to go steal some more.
