These are Alpines. You can milk different breeds.

@@goatmilkstuff In the Alps we've actually got quite a few breeds. In Spain there exists a breed called "alpina", which is derived from the chamois-coloured mountain goat from Switzerland. And you've obviously got goats of several breeds of Alpine origin, haven't you? I'm quite familiar with the Swiss goat breeds.

I've never had a goat not eat food. A goat that won't eat food is a sick goat, in my experience. That of course assumes that there is nothing wrong with the food and that they haven't over-eaten something else. PJ

Have you ever watched a baby goat nurse from the mom? They "bump" the udder with their heads. That's what we're mimicking. It helps the goats to "let down". PJ

That's pretty close. It's 10.5 feet to the wall. So 7 sounds about right for the part they stand on before the slope. PJ

I'm sorry that it appears that way to you. My boys have helped to deliver and bottle raise all of these goats from birth. They are definitely not rough and uncaring. This video was taken when the goats were new to the machine milking system. Goats are very stubborn and very strong. I promise you that you don't have to worry about them. My boys can tell the all black goats apart based on the shape of their heads! (That's something I can't do). These goats are their babies. :) PJ

lol, you have no idea how they care about goats in Netherlands. On one farm where I worked boss was kicking goats to get them on carusell, one big stress for animals. In germany even worse with farming - stronger country - worse animal abuse

Our goats live incredibly happy lives. They each have a name. They are well loved and well taken care of. I'm sorry that makes you sad. PJ

@@roseczy Persephone is our oldest goat. She is ten and hasn't given us milk in 2 years. She lives with the young goats or anybody who miscarried and isn't milking. She's a happy old lady here on the farm. This isn't a confinement operation. We have plenty of space. The only time we ever put a goat down is if they have an injury or are sick that can't be healed and are suffering. The reason I got my own goats in the first place is because I wouldn't buy milk or cheese from confinement dairies. My goats live really awesome lives. And we're on Facebook live and live cameras all the time to show that. :) PJ

@@roseczy I agree with you on that! But not all dairy farms are created equal. Some are created in response to that kind of behavior. In my belief, a dairy goat that is bred to milk well, is fed well, is loved, is protected from predators, and is outside enjoying the woods and fields in many ways has a better life than goats in the wild. We've done it both ways - raised the babies on their moms and bottle fed. We've settled on bottle feeding because we find that the babies are healthier and friendlier. They are still fed goat milk - we don't do it to feed them crappy milk replacer to save the milk for sale. They actually get more goat milk than they would if they were on their moms so they grow big and strong. :) PJ
