Besides dreaming of having a Lamborghini Huracan, I dream of also having this machine in my garage.

That's amazing. The thread cutting near the end was brilliant. I bet there was some serious butt clenching going on the first time they stepped it through.

Hmm, about forty years ago the boss of a small machine shop was asked if some machining could be done for another department. We only had a second-hand worn-out Denbigh milling machine that had probably worked 24/7 throughout the whole of WW2 so it was decided that a Bridgeport milling machine would be purchased as the department that wanted the machining doing were going to pay. As it was a big ticket item several people went to the factory to see what was going to be bought. Whilst they were there a CNC lathe was put through its paces turning out wine goblets machined from 50 mm thick steel bar and each visitor was given one as a souvenir. Of course machines such as those can also make other things like shells so export licences are required. The steadiness of the machine in the video is quite astonishing but are they doing the demo with lead-loaded free-cutting-steel that can be cut like butter?

Tech Davey I also noticed that there were no coolants used whilst milling. Your observations are probably correct.

Looks nearly miraculous. Is there any lubrication going on there ?
@suomik1988
@suomik1988 8 лет назад
+zytigon It was done with mild steel and tungsten carbide tools so they didn't have to use coolant. Had it been inconel or manganese, it would have been a different story. If you're doing a video to showcase your product, you don't want coolant all over the place making it so you can't even see what's going on.

+Manny Boy ....they are very nice machines.....but very compicated to work on when it comes to maintnance and something needs to be replaced, getting replacement parts from germany is a very time consuming process....i dont think we have ever gotten anything from them in less than 6 months...

hoppercar but im sure youre having the time of your life when working with these machines.thanks for the info.have an awesome day.
@suomik1988

+hoppercar If you pushed the machine to what it's capable of, you should be making at least $50,000 of every SINGLE job you put in it. I'd say at that price even an over-engineered machine is worth it. You could easily make over $100k from a job using this machine. It eliminates almost every other work center you'd need.
