I am a 5th generation family farmer from West-Central Minnesota. The recent interest in food, combined with a large amount of 'misinformation' has driven me to start this channel. I hope to be someone people can relate to and trust when they question how their food is grown and raised. I also hope to become a 'smarter' farmer through my experiences with this channel. I strongly believe we must have an open mind and a willingness to learn about others, or we cannot move forward as one. My goal is to build the connection between farmers and consumers by facilitating a collaborative conversation amongst everyone. I do this by sharing my day-to-day farming experiences, my opinions on certain topics, and occasionally visiting other farms and businesses to help better understand other farming and business practices. There is no limit to where this channel may go, so please join me!!

corey rogers one thing I've learned is every farm is so different and some guys just enjoy working hard and don't value clean equipment as much as others. To each their own I say, but we like to keep things clean if we can.
@JB-uv4hm

Dirty farms. Imagine.
@farmerintheboot4089
@farmerintheboot4089 5 лет назад
It should be noted not every farm is like this. Some if not most just get by. And as far as being organized and clean everyone does things their own way. The way that works best for them. Some don’t have the resources in order to put sheds up and have updated equipment. My dad has struggled for 40 years feeding cattle and farming a little land. We’ve used the same old worn out equipment for decades. It’s too expensive for us to update. And as far as the equipment being clean well we have a feed yard it’s never clean. So when you say a lot of farmers have no organization and have nasty dirty farms. I’m sure they wish they could have a farm like the one in the video, I do. But like I said it most likely isn’t in their means. Don’t degrade farms that looks nasty compared to this one, doesn’t mean they don’t care maybe they’ve had a rough go at it. Farming used to be dirty. Personally I’d like to see fewer large operations and more smaller farms.
@dcmkcbbq
@dcmkcbbq 5 лет назад
When your machinery is clean it makes it a lot easier to spot oil leaks, loose fasteners, stress/fatigue cracks, cracked hydro lines, etc... Not to mention it's a lot easier working on a machine that's clean. Also, a lot of items used on the farm and produced by the animals on the farm can be rather corrosive. So a good bath can help keep corrosion at bay.

Great job, love the duals on combine and tracks on planter, I agree with less compaction, I run 800 metric on our 9500 in southern Illinois, also love you keeping history alive with the G 750. I have a 1971 Oliver 1755, but by then ,both MM and Oliver were owned by White. Great to see them older tractors still alive, we only farm little over 100 acres, do it all with Oliver equipment, do well over 1400 custom with 9500 combine all three crops. Keep up the good work.

Thanks so much for the tour. One of the fun things to do on the farm for us was the rock picker. Don't know why, just seemed like a lot of fun. I grew up on the farm but it was back in the day. Our tractor of choice was the Farmall Super M. Didn't know what a cab was. If you were really high dollar you might have had a heat houser. All our corn was harvested with a two row picker. We were general farmers. Raised hogs, cows, beef cattle. Lot less equipment headaches back then.

We run green also. Not that they always make the best tractor, but they currently have the best dealer in my area. We ran some agco prior grew up on whites. Agco parts just can’t get it done here for some reason. Nice lineup. Good explanation of why you went certain ways. If we all had New York Yankees type of money I imagine the lineup would look different. But like you said sometimes the cost doesn’t justify the upgrade.

MN Millennial Farmer the name of the case ih dealer here is Ag West Supply... nicknamed Ag Worst by the locals. My cousins have always had red. I like who can service me best and doesn’t leave me hanging because a little part broke and I have rain coming. John Deere this spring sent a tractor out as a demo so I could finish planting when my old IH couldn’t do the job. It was like you Minnie, very reliable till that day. But when push came to shove my dealer made the difference. Thanks for the video. Entertainment while I’m babysitting an irrigation pump. We’ve been harvesting for about three weeks now. Two months left to go. Hope things go well for you! Mother Nature has been kicking our butt this year.

I was a dairy farmer but we lost our farm due to dairy prices back in the 80s. I watch your fantastic videos because I wish I was still a farmer and miss it very much.

I wanted to take the time to tell you that you did a absolutely fantastic job on this video. Thank you for taking the time to give a little in depth overview of each piece of machinery, it’s uses, tire size, and hours that are on it ( most people leave that out) it was a real pleasure to watch!

Nice seeing all that green, my Grandpa was a huge JD fan, all his equipment was green, with exception to Gleaner harvester. Memories of childhood lol
