One extremely niche mechanic: All three Wheelies have tires, which means that they can get bogged down by sand, requiring you to start a charge in order to clear out the tires. The only map with sand you can use them on is Sky Sands.
I always get a laugh out of using the Hydra to ram into opponents at 100 mph, instantly destroying their machines and sending them flying across the map.
I'm kind of surprised that the Wheelie Scooter section didn't mention that it has mad ups. Every point of Glide is a noticeable increase in how far/high the scooter can jump. You wouldn't expect any of the wheelie vehicles to fly, but outside of dedicated flying vehicles or the Bulk Star, scooter's got the best shot, and it can do that while also being an overall good racing vehicle. It really only suffers in combat situations.
One funky thing about the Wheelie Scooter and getting glides though is that in the stadium battles it _will_ actually start gliding And lemme tell ya, it's flight speed is horrid
Also, when it has enough charge/boost, Wheelie Scooter can actually move faster than its top speed by mashing A, even just driving straight forward. I think it's the only vehicle that does that.
Wagon Star is honestly one of my favorites, outside of when I get the parts to build the Hydra. A fun feature that I really appreciate is that because of the abnormal shape of the Wagon Star, it can actually trigger ground panels if you tilt the machine backwards, no A-pressing required!
My siblings and I loved the wagon star because we always called it the ice cream truck and whoever got it would pretend to give ice cream to the other Kirby's 😆 It was fun 🙂
I always remembered how much of a threat lv 9 CPU are when they get their hands on that machine! I swear if I even attempted to approach one I'd get absolutely owned without the Hydra.😂
formula star in particular is insane with high stats due to its much stronger brakes, oddly enough. one of the biggest downsides to gaining a lot of stats is that you start to lose control of your mobility, but formula star is able to almost stop on a dime from any speed, taking its biggest weakness and turning it into a great strength in its own right
Slick Star is just Swerve Star, but you can start turning in advance since you won't stop, and... You don't get that instant acceleration. It is to regular races what Swerve Star is to drag races.
I just want to say that the bulk star also excels at one shotting other players; sometimes on accident. Boost and charge are what you want. It's a big opportunist in pvp. If you happen to see someone ahead of you just slightly change your direction and obliterate them.
Wheelie scooter has a really interesting mechanic where it pops up when going off a ledge. This can be abused in Air Glider to get pretty far by tilting forward just as you go off the ramp. It'll outclass almost any other base machine (aside from Dragoon or Bulk Star's glitch), but falls off pretty quick with power ups since it doesn't benefit well from glide. I remember my friends and I as kids trying to see how far we can launch that thing.
Great video, only complaint is that you forgot to mention how Bulk Star can also be a lifesaver in Destruction Derby if you collect a lot of defense patches.
Here's another fun fact about the Rocket Star; it's also the fastest machine in the game! I don't know if many people know this, but if you max out the boost item, use the super charge and ride on the railway, you can literally do a Sonic Boom.😂
Every Kirby Air Ride machine in a nutshell Compact- The starter’s choice Bulk- Stop to move Hydra- You wanna see some real speed? **Holding the A button** I’ll show you some real speed! **Let go of A button** Turbo- Tokyo drift Swerve- Gotta go fast! Jet- Knuckles the Echidna Rocket- Look at my description for Hydra Shadow- Omae wa mou shindeiru Slick- Look at my description for Turbo Dragoon- _”I believe I can fly~”_ Rex- I love drag racing! Winged- Jet, but better Wagon- No comment Scooter- Again, no comment Wheelie- Look at my description for Bulk Formula- Oh, we playing F1 racing now? Warp- (Almost) Every machine combined into one
When riding the Scooter, did anyone else always have this problem where; when you jump off a ramp, Kirby just kinda... slowly flies up a bit and slowly falls back down? Almost as if there was too much speed?
I find jumping off at the start kind of pointless. Compact star is already better at collecting items than anything other than Swerve Star, so switching that early will just put you behind in the stats game.
scooter boost can be abused incredibly by spamming A against items and surfaces with hotboxes. levels pretty much any destructible environment with just a couple rapid presses
What year is this??? Also unsure if you mention it because I'm only just starting the video but the Bulk Star can fly endlessly if it's light enough, you have to get good speed off a jump then mash A, if you're light enough or do it well enough you can fly endless distance Edit: you did =P mention it
Love the video. The set up in the beginning about what vehicles are beginner vs harder wouldve neen nice to see more clearly defined. Those all seemed like great descriptions, and I did not realize some things about some of the bikes.
sleep can wait. A niche video on a game one year older than me with a small but dedicated community just popped up in my recommended. INITIATE AuDHD OVERDRIVE BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I'm not sure if it's a problem with my controller, but Wing Star has a weird glitch on Beanstalk Park and Magma Flows' steep roads where if you aren't going fast enough, you'll start going drastically sideways against the walls. You need to tap A to regain control P.S. I highly recommend having a race in Nebula Belt with all players using the Rocket Star (in Air Ride Mode, at least)
