For this project, the STEPCRAFT Team decided to carve into aluminum 6061 to show the rigidity and longevity that the D.Series machines offer. We used a D.600 machine along with Vectric VCarve Pro to create the toolpathing (CAM) G-Code. The spindle used is the MM-1000 along with 3 Amana Tool's; 46170, 51474 & 46286.
If you would like to see a tutorial on how we made this, or any other aluminum related projects, please leave a comment below saying you'd like to learn more!

It would be great if you show the Spindle speed and Feedrate for each tool Great Video!!

For everyone wondering about speeds and feeds. The file was an STL 3D file that we purchased online. The CAM was generated with Vectric VCarve Desktop. Two tool paths were used: Roughing - 1/8" O Flute Amana Up-Cut, Feed Rate: 25 mm/sec, 12000 RPM, Pass depth of 0.015", Stepover 0.05", Max Cut Depth: 0.735", Plunge Rate: 12 mm/sec Finishing - 1/8" Amana Ball Nose, Feed Rate: 30 mm/sec, 12000 RPM, Pass Depth of 0.05", Stepover 0.0063", Max Cut Depth: 0.708", Plunge Rate: 8.47 mm/sec

Stepcraft Inc Thanks for sharing. Long time deciding for a small CNC capable to work with few and not very larga projects in aluminum. Also affordable enough. This is the answer to my prays. Will be soon my next purchase. Thanks a Lot

Wow, the finish was truly amazing. Learned something about holding material in place. I would have never thought a simple pocket in MDF would have worked that well and that the aluminum did not try to climb out of the pocket without a secondary clamp. Thanks for the video.

There is a one piece of double sided tape on the bottom of the aluminum block to keep it down and since we are not using coolant, it stayed in place perfectly

to me the holy trinity...stepcraft, vectric V-Carve pro and Amana-tools...it's expensive 😱but to me perfect for getting perfect results...👍

A narrative of what you are doing and why is thousand times better than a damn music. Look at how winston moy of carbide3d makes his videos as an example. You now are going to get lot of questions regarding feed and speeds.

We are going to do another one and video it more as a tutorial for just this reason.

Was the D.600 a standard machine, or upgraded? The reason I ask concern over the NEMA17 stepper motors being tough enough to cut aluminium. Awesome demo, though! I can't wait to try cutting aluminium +1

Good job is that doable with HF 500 spindle ?
@StepcraftInc
@StepcraftInc 3 года назад
Yes you can do it with the HF-500 but it will just take a little longer

All you people asking for speeds and feeds...it's just aluminum. How hard could it be to use your own feeds and speeds...use your skills
