This is some video I shot when machining the steering quadrant for the steering system on Rocket. I will post another video showing the setup and operation of the whole system further down the line once it is finished. The quadrant was machined from 6082 Aluminium 15mm plate.
I should say I am by no means a metal machinist and this was my first time machining aluminium! This was done on my wood router with the addition of an oil mist attachment.
Thanks for watching, please remember to subscribe to see what else I've been up to and enjoy the video!

Machining all the Aluminium parts took me a day... and polishing them just as long again! I still haven't finished the complete setup yet though so it is still awaiting final mounting and alignment.

Thanks, it's a Ceamax. A Chinese machine from Blue Elephant.

@ 1:04 Why does the whole piece, the triangle shapey bit, need to be machined. Could it not be just cut around the edge, and let the remaining center bit just fall out...? As it is being done at 2:41 OH, I am an electrician, not a machinist.

Yes it could have been cut around the edge and actually when I did the second one of these that is how I did it because I didn't realise clearing the whole centre out would take so long... it was about an hour the first time round I think!
