I operate CNC everyday. Speeds and feeds are all about rigity. I feel for vibration and also walk around the the shop to hear how it sounds. It's like planing out a boat on the water👍
Love your humor! I would say your feed speed was great and your cut depth as well, but I think the cutter head should have been higher! And it would have given you a better surface finish!!
Now what’re you going to touch off with! It’s funny. (SFM x 4)/Tool Diameter and RPM x CL x #T only get you in the window. Machining is the most seat-of-the-pants job out there besides being a pilot.
lol. Can you do a vid on when and why to do manual over CNC machining now that the cost is becoming similar, or sometimes even higher for the increasingly rare guy than can still do manual stuff well?
Repair work is manual and a lot of tool & die makers use manual for control of stupidly tight tolerances. I work in aircraft repair and manual is faster for picking up holes to be opened up or turning a diameter of a section on a part. We do pin and screw removals and all sorts of oddball stuff
Didn’t you move one or more CNC ‘s out of your shop into the weather, do I see a movement of CNC bra burning getting started?? If you pile up the machines and dismantle them with Tannerite like our friends in Texas disposing of wild hogs, you may get a better rate at the scrap yard (less disassembly! )
I bought a cnc because of seeing all these dudes with mills. But a mill is way too much. And I don’t mind code. I wrote a program in godot (game engine) to spit out basic rectangular facing operations. I just like making chips. 2-4 inches at a time(bed size lol)
It should work, but I think the Carbide inserts cut the manual just fine. Getting the inserts in high speed steel is usually difficult enough, so for inconel We would need to make our own inserts.
You had your feeds and speeds right, but your clamping was horrendous! That much overhang will allow WAY too much flex in the material. You are not on your manual machining game today! Lol
