The Inca Trail trek is one of the most spectacular ways to experience Machu Picchu, Inca Ruins & the Andes mountains. Each day is a totally different experience with their own challenges and beautiful moments.
Kylie Bearse is a Colorado Meteorologist and founder of the hiking website, Approachable Outdoors which aims at making the outdoors more accessible. While the Inca Trail is a bit more than a traditional "approachable" experience it's a bucket list item that's more than worth the effort.

I did this hike in 2012 when I was 62 years old. Your video is a fun recap! Sadly, my partner, a dear Peruvian friend, passed in 2018. I thought of her watching this. I consider this trek to have changed my life- for the better ❤

You're going to love it! I used a 24L (any bigger and you have to check it at Machu Picchu) and found it worked great. I'll be doing a packing video but our guide gave us a list and I followed it pretty much exactly. We went early October which was the beginning of rainy season - it definitely does impact the views on the hike if it's raining

We brought portable chargers and I kept my phone on airplane mode the entire time. My camera I was very conservative with when I'd turn it on - it barely made it but it did!

Is Peru safe overall to be travelling with camera gear?

We were with guides the whole time on the Inca Trail and several of us had cameras, but none of us had major camera gear. I only really brought out my nice camera on the trail for a few pics, otherwise I kept it in the hotel room when we explored the cities. In general, I did feel safe the whole trip.

I hear the indigenous people are struggling...why not put to use those agricultural structures to provide themselves with sustenance...just a random thought I wanted to share 😊
