Realistically sure collision should be right at the bottom of the axle, but the problem is it's far to late for that in this game. We already has so many vehicles where the collision isn't realistic, heck I don't know if it still has it or not but I could swear the MH9500 had no axle collision at one point. It's just to late to start making DLC trucks realistic now, all Saber is doing is putting new trucks at a huge disadvantage compared to old trucks. So yeah, Saber definitely need to adjust the collision models and bring these trucks in line with the rest of the game.
@NProvince
@NProvince 11 месяцев назад
Very good point Justin. I think Saber painted themselves into a corner with their terrain depth forcing them to created vehicles with unrealistic models to be able to conquer those elements.

Great video Nathan. I've used it a lot and think its a great truck an update to the hit box would make it a even better truck. And your tip about dodging obstacles and straddling deep ruts I think is the key to this truck for now. Keep up the hard work!
@NProvince
@NProvince 11 месяцев назад
I appreciate those kind words JJ. A hit box change would make this truck one of the best truly. It’s blew me away in a lot of areas, except it’s collision issues. Glad you noticed that part at the end where I mentioned that strategy. I think that’s one of the only ways to make it work effectively. It’s not a big deal to play that way. Using American trucks as much as we do; it’s like 2nd nature right!?
@G4mingWithJJ
@G4mingWithJJ 11 месяцев назад
@@NProvince you’re very welcome! Yes exactly. I think this is why so many people are having issues with the hit box they aren’t dodging much and if you do follow what you said it’s a great truck.

Obstacles? What are obstacles?? 😂😂 Y'all are both right about that though. But I've noticed it overcomes obstacles a fair amount better than most American trucks just through sheer power and downward weight. It's quickly become my favorite American truck; overtaking the BM17 and even Derry 15C.

I agree with pretty much everything you've had to say in this video. I've used the Mack a lot in S10 and tried various combos and for me personally, top torque, multi-purpose, custom tires, and no crane works the best. I believe using this set up mitigates the clearance issues slightly due to the extra power and fuel eco. If It wasn't for the collision it'd be S tier like you say. It's a solid choice for the offroad class. Great work!

Banger review of this truck man. I couldn't agree more on every point you said, honestly. Even your end rating of is identical to my personal rating as well Lol It's a fantastic truck! Definitely if Saber lifts it hitbox to center of axle, that alone would warrant an S tier rating. And thank you for posting up the tire info. I really appreciate it man. A .7 width huh? Its not much wider but with its weight and near independent suspension, I'm sure that's why it feels to do really good with factory tires. Also, as a crane+semi trailer user too, yeah that saddle needs to be moved back a touch. It gets a little annoying sometimes Lol

Another great review. You are the first one I go to when wanting to find out about trucks in Snowrunner. I am currently on my first play through and about halfway through Alaska. After I finish the first 3 base game maps I have a bit of a dilemma. I am debating whether to just play all the DLC in order and get the vehicles as I come to each map. Or, I am thinking about going and getting all of the vehicles in all of the DLC and then going back to Kola and playing through from there. Thoughts?
@alexgame3357
@alexgame3357 11 месяцев назад
My 2 cents, I have been slowly working my way through one map at a time, and each new map I either buy or find a few new trucks, this way I get to use each truck and really understand it rather than getting deluged will all of them at once. But I am also on hard mode so I could never afford to buy them all anyway. its fun I think as you sometimes use trucks that are not optimal, rather than always using the 'meta' vehicles.
@NProvince
@NProvince 11 месяцев назад
Thank you for those kind words. So im always an advocate of playing a left to right playthrough especially for players first run at the game. I think that some vehicles later on really dumb down the experience of early maps. In truth after alaska and taymyr; you're gonna have a pretty awesome fleet to tackle Kola from what you can buy and what you already have. However, skippping to another map isnt a wrong move its just a different way. Its tough to see all these new trucks and be so far away from getting them so i do understand jumping around. Basically, theres no right way to do it and as long as you're enjoying it

The Mack M917 is a highway tactical vehicle delivery truck, it has multi link highway suspension & the turning radius of the moon due to all three rear axles having no steering, it is designed to deliver equipment into a field or down a non too challenging dirt/gravel track, it's AWD is to provide additional traction in inclement weather & minor off road situations as it's diff lock The majority off US AWD multi axle trucks are impeded by their suspension, invariably multi link highway suspension or standard leaf springs, the former giving very limited wheel travel & axle articulation which severely limits off road traction due to wheels not being in contact with the ground on very uneven terrain, standard 'hung' leaf springs are slightly better as they can give a little more axle articulation, however due to the springs being designed for load bearing this is also limited Whereas the Maz 537 (605) has independent walking beam suspension & 6x6 trucks such as Zil, Kraz, Ural etc hace live axle leaf spring walking beam suspension, both types giving wheel travel measured in feet rather than inches with tremendous amounts of axle articulation The Soviet era & the Russian Kamaz (Azov) trucks also have only moderate BHP engines with tremendous amounts of torque,thet are slow 40 -50 mph ish max, they are however very fuel efficient & have an 800+ mile range for the biggest 8X8's Whereas US trucks have high BHP engines designed primarily for highway driving with bhp having priority over torque, which means the number of revs between max torque & max BHP is quite a narrow margin, hence BHP takes over off road causing wheelspin & lost traction If you're highway hauling on the hard stuff use a US truck If you're hauling through mud, swamps over rocks, mountaineering & basically dragging your ass through stuff you can't stand up in or a hill you couldn't walk up, use a Soviet truck or an Azov

It should be noted that best in class is an understatement for its engine power. At 235k, its far more comparable to the best heavy engines than to the engines of its fellow offroad trucks. The best US engine has 250k torque and is limited to the likes of the Twinsteer and other massive trucks. (P16 has 210k max for comparison)
@NProvince
@NProvince 11 месяцев назад
It’s 232k torque and no the 250k engine is not 2nd anymore. 2 American heavy trucks sit at #1 and #2 for torque at 265k and 280k those are the Kenworth and the Derry Special. It’s much more comparable to the Voron grad at 235k. So actually I made a mistake because it #2 in the off-road class now per torque
@AvarageYakuzaEnjoyer
@AvarageYakuzaEnjoyer 11 месяцев назад
@@NProvince Oh wow, I never knew the Grad was such a power house, thats shocking. I will have to use it now. Im pretty sure the other offroaders all sit close to 200k though? As for the US engine claim, by US engine i meant the non unique best US engine that is useable by several trucks. The Derry Special and Kenny do have stronger engines but they are also unique to them.

It's nice to see a good American offroad truck. Sure, the collision model might be sub par but the large fuel tank and roof rank probably gives this a better range than the vorons and taigas. (Not entirely sure tho, just my hope!) Offroad class just seems to kinda be dominated by Russian / non american trucks (taigas, vorons, azovs). When I compare it to the Kenworth 963, I just can't find any reason to use it. 963 has a 3-slot sideboard/flat bed and still carry a spare, the 963 never gets bogged down in mud like the 917 does, the 963 will haul everything almost everywhere. The fuel burn on the 917 along with lackluster tires always getting bogged down in mud means I never use it despite wanting to.

what is weird about this truck is its trouble to stay in the highest auto gears, despite its torque as a workaround one tends to stay in high (which isn't a bad thing per se) but wouldn't the highrange gearbox a good choice because you get the most bang out of it?

Can this replace my usual 49X? I was hoping that the 49X would be the triple rear, single steer puller that it looked like and I guess Saber couldn't figure out how to make a tag axle powered. It's still a beast of a rig as a semi tractor and was hoping the new Mack would he able to replace it as a proper single steer 8x8 and instead it looks like it'll end up being a sometimes truck. Fifth wheel placement is a problem and it seems all of the new NA trucks have fuel consumption problems

I was afraid this was going to be one of the rigs that would have been good but has some fault that completely ruins them. Fortunately I was wrong, active suspension makes the hang-ups tolerable and the high gear on the multi-purpose combined with some powerful engines does a decent enough job hauling the M917 over rough terrain, inclines, and shallow to moderate mud. That being said still not something I'll be taking into mud heavy areas.

I brought out the ANK to run the special cargo from the second map and burned most of my fuel just picking up the cargo. I have no problem having to run support trucks or have fuel trucks around the map, but what's the point of using the north American trucks if almost every Russian truck I have could do the job way better. If I had brought my Zikz 605 to run that cargo, I could do the whole trip and still have fuel to do another mission. I realized that my ANK consumes around 6 gallons a minute on mud no matter what I do, unless I'm pulling the heaviest cargo my Zikz consumes 2 gallons a minute. I know Russian trucks are made for this stuff, but why nerf north American trucks into the ground. Anyway, Great video!

It is frustrating that American trucks are hamstrung with insane fuel burn. I can understand the capabilities being different, but US engines aren’t inefficient like depicted on this game. I do still enjoy this truck though.

Who needs trailers? Just load whatever you want up on the Kenny and thats it. Carried 2 Oil Rigs with it yesterday. It was harder to carry just one with a 5 slot trailer using the Mack and the Kenny crossed a swamp. The only reason I ever conisdered a trailer is because you need to pack the cargo to deliver it. Hmm... perhaps next time I will load the trailer onto the Kenny too along with a tractor for it...

@@palladiamorsdeus The only 'cheese' tactic I have done is loading loose logs in a trailer to complete some of the logging missions faster, and i kinda feel bad having to do that. But if I don't i will NEVER complete the game...

@@palladiamorsdeus Well, then you should try freeloading trucks for yourself. Its a whole new level to the game. It makes those big orders to the same place an exciting challenge rarther than a chore. Example: 14 load point quest in BC 1st map. Now how many trips is that? Lots of trips is the answer even if you use big painful trailers. What you could also do, is load those 14 points onto the Kenny and do it in one trip. Its gonna be risky and might fall off if you make a mistake but that makes it all the more exciting. The jenga you need to do when loading it is also gonna be a challenge. It also looks just beautiful when your truck is loaded to the absolute maximum. Now loading trailers and trucks and freeloading logs might get goofy and kinda cheesy but those can be quite interesting too though I personally avoid them.

I hope it does. In its current state I think it does ok. I’ve been using it on stream recently and it’s been working pretty well if you can play to its strengths and mitigate weaknesses as mentioned at the tail end of this video

So this is the truth. I'm quite sad to hear that. I've read a lot of messages from people complaining about the collision model. But often people complain about so many things. But watching your video, I can see this beautiful tuck has so many flaws. I really hope the dev will address some. But since it's an American truck I'm not so confident. I will wait to start this region anyway. I'm not in a hurry.

I pirated this game to try it out NGL, and I like the game, that I now bought it in steam and ordered a steering wheel just for this game. Can't wait to drive back and forth because I brought an off road truck instead of a scout truck to tow a scout trailer. SMH

I absolutely hated how this truck drove. I sold it. I really like the look of the model, but it's collision model is just broken for this game. Meanwhile the Ziks 612 got buffed. Game devs seem to have something against American trucks, and it's starting to annoy me.
