@@Atila643 Mack was started in the US in 1900, and in the year 2000 was bought by Volvo Sweden. China bought 100% of the Volvo car manufacturing and owns a around 10% of Volvo trucks. When China owns a company the quality goes to nothing. At least they have factories in Australia and the US still making Mack trucks. If China ever owns 100% of Mack trucks, we'll see an end to Mack Trucks.

Yes it is, a real gem, but I am biased as was raised with my father owning all the models of Macks from the 60s to the early 90s

Richard don't you folks in the USA haul 2 53 foot trailers with tandem dolly? they do here where I live in Canada.

@@canvids1 53 footer's would be off limits. I'm thinking of twin 35's on 9 axles with speed restrictions and signs.

@@richardcolemanjr3749 On the turnpike in Ohio they're allowed dual 53 footers with tandem dollies. I think if they want to leave the turnpike someone else has to come and grab the other trailer and the truck just leaves with the single trailer and dolly.

@@alexphillips4325 That's also allowed in the Northeast on I-87 & I-90 the combined NY Thruway Mass pike systems. In the case of twin 53s on NY Thruway a Boston to Philly trailer NJ TAA 10A TZZ 99Z plate PA PT Perm Trailer plate might be combined with a Boston to Buffalo NY 53ft then split at Albany, NY or I-90 Exit B1.

Thanks for the compliment, it means a lot as I suffer from bipolar depression and it takes a lot to get out of my place and go do photos and videos, but I love it once there. As I was brought up with my dad owning all models of Macks since the 60s until early 90’s Good too hear you like the Volvo I shift, as so many people are giving bad comments about the Volvo gear.

He probably just hadn't coupled up yet. Normally you'd be all hooked up and drive through with the full set.

So is that 400 litres in each rear trailer under belly tank? Making the 800 litres? As I have always wondered how much they carried.

Looks like the prime mover has 2 x 800 litre tanks on the right, and 1 x 800 and a 1000 litre on the left side. Underbelly tanks vary in size up to 25000 litres, but going by the time he took to fill them and no visible tanks on the trailers or bash plates they likely be standard tanks

I was amazed when I started photographing the Road Trains 20 years ago as too how they all wear flip flops 😂 But I suppose if you are spending 2-5 days driving interstate you need to be comfortable. As I grew up with my father wearing the proper work boots driving his Mack Road Trains from the 60s to the early 90s But I guess thats because he operated a side tipper Road Train and I would wear shoes as well when working with him growing up. As I suppose they definitely need them in the dirt and mud and up on the tippers evening out the load. I will have to see what the current Road Train drivers wear, as I think they would wear boots for the same reasons and the trucks going onto the strict construction sites also

Yes, the 2 air intakes behind the sleeper 1 is for the transmission and 1 is for the diff too keep them cool, as he has to cross half off top of Australia in the remote desert conditions, so can get very hot upto 40 degrees In dry season/summer

Just a guess, 1000 litres each side of the cab, another 1000 litres on both trailers... so 4000 litres total. At $2.00 per litre, current east coast diesel price, that is about $8,000 a fill.

Thanks for the reply, that’s interesting to know. Yeah this is our new one just built 2 years ago, Truck Central. Designed and built by a guy who owns a large truck company of side tipper Road Trains. He’s company was worth $250 million dollars about 4 years ago and still is growing, self made man with only 1 truck. So takes a great truckie to design the extra thick concrete base, covers about 30 acres. The latest video I just posted showing the Road Train having 5 tyres replaced is the old Truck City with bitchium base full of large pot holes and small Cheers

Charlie has answered that in his comment below, he says 1,000 litres in the truck tanks and 800 litres in the 2 under belly tanks under the 2 complete trailers (400 litres each) . This mack has 4 Fuel Tanks, maybe 5, I don’t know what the short one is on the passenger side (left side). But they only have 2 on the drivers side (right side) as there is a exhaust cover in the middle of them. I don’t know why they have done this, as they use to have 6 fuel tanks on the truck for the long distance. Hope this helps, and good to hear from you in germany. I think it is in the details section, he can travel back to Sydney New South Wales 3,900km’s away one way trip without refueling and he still has enough fuel to do another 1,700km’s.

@@itruckaus9588 the small one is for reducing emissions. After passing through the Diesel Particle Filter the filtered exhaust gasses need after-treatment with a chemical called Ureum/AdBlue, which after injection into the exhaust eliminates practically al other toxic fumes.

ThAnk you so much for the compliment, means a lot as I suffer badly from bipolar depression and PTSD so it takes a lot for me to leave home. But once I’m out photographing and videoing it makes me feel terrific as my dad owned Mack Road Trains from the 60s to early 90s and I miss working it with him so much. So I stared photographing Road Trains 20 years ago and trying to master videoing the last 3 years. Doing it really relaxes me too hear the engines and jake brake is so calming for me. Yes that new truck stop has only been open the last 2-3!years. So I have plenty of videos of the old Truck City (still going but only a few use it) as it is tiny, can just fit in a R/T with 3 trailers and a dolly parked at the bay behind leaving just enough room for other Road Trains to get around. It could only hold about 12. And yes it has huge deep pot holes as big as the rims. As it is tarmac, so gets chewed up and the owner doesn’t repair it, maybe once a year. So you will see the trucks bouncing thru the pot holes and trying to reverse truck and trailers to hook up more hitting the pot holes. And there is a commercial building in front of the tarmac just enough room for a truck to pass in front of the others parked up. So one of the most popular videos I have is off a poor KW Cabover trying to connect his 2 trailers to the 3rd with no room to manoover as he can only go forward and bit to the wall and then he has to watch out for cars cutting thru the truck stop from 4 directions as they do it too avoid the lights so it takes a lot of concentration and work. I will post it by the end of the month. As I’m currently learning my new powerful programs to make my videos look more awsome. Yes I have had comments on the iTruck page about them doing it there that I should video them trying to do it on a station with the dirt and roughness etc. I will do that in the future when I can afford the petrol too get down the Highway again as I’m only a disability pensioner.
