hey man love the channel! 👍 the mackerel have just landed on the shores of northern ireland 2 its interesting they shoal across the pond too, may i reccommend soaking them a little in soy sauce over night then bbq or grill them it takes a mighty table fish to another realm
They seem to be running good this year in New Brunswick too, there was a huge school of them feeding right at the surface the other day it was a legit feeding frenzy with hundreds of fish caught 10 feet from the shore
Man , i remember as a kid back in the 70s literally chasing schools of mackerel up and down the local wharf on our bicycles to get ahead of the and get jig hooks in the water , some times as many as 3 jigs and get a crack at them as they chased schools of kaplin. The waters were full of both of them back then. No size limits , the small 'tinkers" were always better eating i thought.
This looks like riverport if so I live right near the general store down the road. You guys got pretty lucky my friend said there's not many mackerel but quite a few squids.
Hey Logan, looks like you had a great day fishing for sure. I can't believe how flat calm the water was for you that day. Usually the water is a little choppy down that way. Nice looking stringers you had on. I love hauling in mackerel like that. When ever I had one on I would let it swim around and see if I could get a couple more hooked up. It was fun when they hit the hook and you knew the fight was on. The camera didn't really do justice for the size of the fish. They all seemed to be really small but that is just from the focus of the lens on the camera. I think that there was selective editing on this video for sure. I say that because it looks like you out fished your buddy about 10 - 1...lol I bet it was the other way around but you needed to make yourself look good for RU-vid :-) I am going to have to try and get out somewhere that is easy for me and my walker to get to. Was this spot the place you told me about where you have the key for? I have never fished there if it is. Looks like an awesome spot for sure. Where was that first spot you stopped at along side of the road? It looked a little familiar but can't say for sure. Anyway take care and see you on your next adventure. Tom.
Hi Tom! I find the GoPro with the fish eye lens almost always makes fish look smaller. At least that's my excuse anyway haha 😂. My buddy did catch quite a few, but some got missed on camera. This particular spot is open to the public. It's near Hubbards right off the side of the road. If you message my Facebook Page, I'll share the coordinates. It's a very accessible spot. It would require walking about 150 feet or so, but once you get down there, it is almost always non stop action. Plenty of squid too at night! Thanks for watching buddy 😃!
This is amazing! I'm moving to NS and want to start fishing there. Could you tell me where you look for the regulations for coastal fishing? Can't find the rules for length and number of fish I can catch. Thanks!
Good day idol, I’m one of your subscribers watching from Toronto, just wanna know what location in NS are you fishing mackerel ? Thank you ang and enjoy
youve been somewhat mis-informed mackerel are one of the slowest growing fish species in the sea, theyve been hammerd by commerical boats again this year and of particular worry was this years north atlantic shoal which had to operate at a reduced quota this year due to a population drop
Hello from MOntreal, I ll be in NS from july 1to 8 and dying to catch flonder and mackerel.pls advice about the places and gear pls, lures. Mnay thanks man !
Use sabiki rigs with 5 hooks... Basically anywhere along the south or eastern shore of the province you will find mackerel. For flounder, put some fish pieces on your bottom hook and drop it close to the bottom.
@@Huntingpros awesome, thank you. by the way... was the limit always been 20? Felt like I heard it used to be more? Also, how about a cooking video on what is the best/favorite way locals cook up mackeral?
As of present you don't need a license for tidal waters. The size restriction last season was 10.55 inches with a retention of 20 fish. Thanks for watching! 😀
@@Huntingprosreally any type of fishing on the east coast tidal waters no License?? I’m on the west coast grew up in Victoria and live in Vancouver we need a tidal water license and extra stamps for other types of species
@@squamishfish The Atlantic Lobster is highly regulated. By fishing I’m referring to with a rod and reel. I suggest you check the DFO regulations on what you can retain and fish without a license in the Maritime Region. I regularly fish for mackerel, ground fish, and sea trout, which does not require a license in Nova Scotia. Obviously, there are retention limits and size restrictions for some species. www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fisheries-peches/recreational-recreative/maritimes/index-eng.html
@@Huntingpros Is the fish from Mill Cove safe to eat? Someone told me I better not eat the fish from Bedford Basin. Where would be the best place to fish mackerel in HRM?
