Fishing for the Mighty Mackerel on the shores of Newfoundland Canada. A tasty feast for all, easy to get too, easy to fish for, and and whole lot of fun to catch. Also we found some fossils on this trip... Only disadvantage of fishing from the Shore is you have to wait for the mackerel to come to you. Hope you all enjoy.

Thanks for the Shout out Chuck! Much appreciated!!! I just finished this video and it caught me by surprise. I never thought back when we went on adventures in Labrador and you had your camera that I would be doing the same thing today. You've been a big inspiration to me and I am grateful to have learned from you. I opened both the pelvic bones on both my spring bears the way you showed me that time and was able to hand that knowledge off to my kids. Thanks Again friend!

Afternoon, Charlie... Good times! Down here on the coast of Maine where I grew up we would catch "Horse" & the smaller "Tinker" mackerel this same time of year. Good fighting, and plenty good eating!

The fossils you talked about at about minute 5 are fossils of cephalopods. They are related to squid, octopus, and cuttlefish. The best modern example is the nautilus. It is a cephalopods with a spiraled shell, like those you were pointing out. At 6:09 you are pointing out what looks like another species of cephalopods that is common in Paleozoic limestones, such as those you were on. In that case the shell is not spiraled but a straight cone. They are called orthodontic cephalopods. The ribs you noticed are the chambers that grow each year. The spiraled ones have chambers as well.

Wow, Rob you are a wealth of knowledge in this area. I would love to go do another video focusing on the different fossils I have found in this area. Would you add a comment to each as to what they are or what you believe they are for us. It would be greatly appreciated.

I want to do a kayak mackerel fishing vid but there are sharks there longer than my kayak so I'm not the bravest when it comes to sharks... Truly never had an exposure to them... I've been more a fresh water guy except for the salt water shores.
