The Thump definitely has thump! & you’re right the upper mids seem less abrasive.. I guess at the venue if you’ve got too much bass you can always pull it back with EQ but if you’ve not got enough bass usually the mids are more abrasive. Cool review man!

Great job! I have a set of these and using a tc helicon play acoustic I notice some unwanted freq and when I play a g or em chord striking the low E sounds like the sound modulates up. I realize you’re using a boss and playing an electric and I run my electric through an old eleven rack and don’t notice the freq & extra sound when not playing notice a lite pop sound occurring with the tc helicon play acoustic, was checking out the boss v-8 and after seeing your video on the boss ve-500 would like to add that to my live gigs for my electric and the boss ve-8 for my acoustic Taylor 814ce. Running 2 thump 215xt with the mackie mixer profx16. Wish I could find a unit that supports the acoustic & electric,, I know asking too much. So with tchelicon play acoustic seems like the sound modulates and I like how you set the gate so the mic is not picking up sound until you sing. I maybe able to set the tchelicon to do the same have to mess around with it some more before next gig Sunday. Like your reviews mate! Cheers

wanted that mackie thump 215 badly but came accross the yamaha DXR 212/215 MKII and wonderding if i should go for the thump of the DXR given that am looking for loud, clear and bassy speaker. to note that both have the same price tag.

Are you on a flat eq for both systems? Or is the main eq set for the older system?

awesome man, im curious on how the XT give more value over the regular that i used, doesn't yours have bluetooth? Anyways, the app you see in the vid is for my DL16s Mixer. :)

Thinking the same,instead of going for Alesis strike amp or Roland amp been thinking of having these 2.but slight lacking of bass worring me for kick bass.also is 1 enough for home rehearsal and 2 for small venue just for edrums

I'd go test drive it, the larger you go you may need bins. I've never pushed mine past half, and even then my master fader on my mixer isn't louder then -10

Thump has fantastic round and clear tone. Thrash is more mid focused, still a great speaker but for rockier music. I like both but I would personally choose thump for overall sound or thrash for budget.
