wow ...great vids ...remembering the one and only mine that i worked back in '78 ... labourer then as a timberman's helper workin thru the northern sask winter sweating in the heat of the underground shaft levels far from the surface shaft...feelin nostalgic to work that again...escape from the heeat of the sun
Very fascinating. Newfound appreciation for you and the whole mining community. Thank you all for your work and dedication. Question: What happens if a hole fails? (Maybe chips away too much or enlarges) Do you redrill nearby or continue with the same hole with extra reinforcement?
usually we drill 28 -32mm holes and the resign is 25mm . we would put more resign in. If it is only a small area that is crumbling away like this ill change the position of the bolt and overlap extra screen to keep the ground from unraveling . IF that does not work we would switch ground support types to a friction type (split set) or pull out and spray the hole place with shotcrete then go back in and install support. Or even switch to long cable bolts and grout. thanks for watching and good question.
Since you are rehabing that drift, I was kind of surprised that you weren't using 6 foot long steel Mats in conjunction with your Dywidag Bolts to hold up the screen panels (much better ground support than just the single Dywidag plates) .
we use 7,6 foot rebar, sometimes we use larger plates. We also use 10 foot bolts and 20 foot cables bolts with larger plates and some steel straps if need be.
Awesome video man, nice bottling. Ever run a ds 310 sandvik robolter with the screen handler on the main boom? Also with the 6 pattern do you ever do the 5 dice
Glad you learned a trick from the video! Knowing someone gained something from these videos makes it all that much more rewarding to make and post these! Thanks for the comment be safe !
@@mommahonna awww dam sorry. The trick is probably sticking your drill steel out about a foot and hang the screen off of it. Then use the boom to force the screen into the corner. You can use the rebar dolly with an extension in or the drill steel to force it into where you want it. hope that helps!
The spinning of the rebar while pushing it in is to mix the resign. After rebar Installed I wait for fast resign to harden then torque bolt to complete install
Joshua Pelletier depends on my mood lol. As for safety and efficiency in large headings jackleg is no match for mechanized . However jackleg on a muck pile getting wet and sweaty is a good day in the sandbox
@@JoryDion Your doin well! I enjoy your vids, I'm kinda curious you can take vids underground......we would have been shit canned for taking pic's......which was understandable.
@@yoshy4072 I have been trying to pitch a training angle for the videos for my current employer....they seem to be happy enough with me providing the videos for free lol. Other companies have taken advantage of videos and used them to promote themselves at conventions etc. I do my best to provide content with value at no cost to the company, so far it seems to be working enough where my employers are impressed and let me continue :)
@@JoryDion Some of the the new equipment, cordless lamps, nice to see progress, over time I'll watch all your stuff, kinda partial to the old stuff, jackleg, stope, slusher , mucking machines Lol. I dare say I would have worked with you as a partner..........thats a big compliment! Stay safe.
Yoshy I appreciate the compliment, for someone to create a machine based off your recommendations is legendary. I think you will like my older videos to.jackleg , muck machine etc. I Think muck machine is my fav old school conventional job. Loading that train, slide rails. Track drift was a rush!
Shane Frankcombe most videos I seen they are using small boom jumbos or split feeds . Jumbos we have are 6m + slides so it’s impossible to support walls with jumbos here unless it’s a pillar or something .
@@JoryDion Ahhh gotcha. Yeah at my place we use split feeds. So when installing 2.4 metre bolts we have it set up with 3.1m steel with split feeds closed and when finished meshing we will change gear over and bore with 3.7m or a 4.2m steel.
@@shane9873 ya we did similiar thing in the tunnel. we had split feed with locking centralizer so we used it for probing also. I really like the split feed booms for the versatility.
maybe I miss understood part of the question, being Rehab it is an old tunnel that was no longer fit for travel so we reinstalled new ground support over the top of the old failing ground support.
@@JoryDion thanks for answering my questions. In the video, you can see the remenants of torn screen and old rebar/bolts dangling, I was wondering how the tunnel got to that condition. Thanks.
@@lastofthetokra in the link provided is the same drift before we went in to install ground support ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZVg8tAYaG20.html
@@rp3316 this video is kind of that....replacement is needed when the ground around an old bolt is deteriorated. Just putting a new layer of new screen and new bolts is all it takes. :)
If I Was Working in the Mine Boss: Hey, who's the f*cking idiot that put the rock bolts in backwards? Me: I don't know. Why don't you stand under it and find out. Boss: Thomas, you asshole you'er fired. Me: Good ! I think I'll become a housewife.
Jory Dion Lollll I never used them until I came to the mine I work in now ( Lalor mine, located in snow lake mb.) and they are the shit man . Which mine are these videos from ?
Supervisor will check multiple times a shift. Getting hurt and being alone is very much a possibility. Being safe is always important but knowing there is no one to save you immediately makes it so much more important to remember.
I see the ground "improved". dinosaur machine?how dare you.:)the jackleg destroyed my hands and sleep. They used to be a miracle machine after a scissor deck. what machine number?
@@JoryDion my current bolter is a gen 3 with the foot pedal and sensors on all the gates. My mechanical department just recently put a regular sized pendant on it.
Looking forward to go for jumbo offsider interview next week. Please any advise for me since this will be my first underground minning work on Obuasi -Ghana
