Jessie I have updated my iMac 2009 with macOS Sonoma 14.5 and it's working pretty well so fast in all cases with OpenCore 1.5.0 so in my opinion older ones can be perfectly updated with this awesome software to have your new version of Mac working with all apps you need and everything else you need. Thanks
Thank you! ❤ You are an absolute life saver. I'm doing phototography with my 2015 imac 27 and updated it into 14.5 Sonoma recently and got struck in the greeting screen. It was a super help to understand what s going on with my machine seeing your videos! Sending love from Sri Lanka! 🇱🇰🥰
Jessie's Flying u are doing a great job have been able to upgraded my macbook air 2017 edition to Sonoma 14.5 through the help of your tutorial thanks so much
So my mid2015 15" MBP did a couple boot loops but went through without needing safe mode, but I'm glad you had that part in the video because my late2013 21.5" iMac DID hang just like your MBP and I did have to use the safe mode route. So thanks for the video! Also my late2012 27" iMac updated from system settings just fine, no hangups. All 3 machines now are on Mac OS 14.5! For anyone curious.
My mid-2015 15" DG MBP updated as normal with OCLP too. Made a boot disk just in case after watching this video, but didn't need to use it. No significant delays during the update process; just the occasional pause. I was upgrading from 14.4.1; OCLP did an update when it detected the OS update download.
I installrd open core and went through all the steps in your video but when i try to upgradeto mac os sonoma it says this application is damaged my mac is 2015 macbook air
two of my macbook 13" 2012 and 2016 just auto update and stuck at the loading like you describe. but i follow your tutorial fo the stuck boot.thanks god both of my mac running perfectly on sonoma 14.5..thank u so much...keep the good work sir...
Hey, I have an iMac exactly like yours, after opencore, are you experiencing any display "glitch" eventually? My iMac is glitching the display almost everytime when returning from sleep mode. If yes, have you found any solution?
@@JessiesFlying I have asked on Discord but couldn't find anyone with a solution. I'm sorry to bother, but do you often use the sleep mode on your mac? Also, can you tell me which display color profile do you use?
Today was my SUPER update day. Two Apple Watches, two iPhones, Apple TV, IPad and finally my MBP 17’ mind 2015 and IMac 27‘ end 2015. Everything works flawlessly. Great job done Jessie and many thanks to make me always confident before I may run in unexpected trouble. Going to relax now… liebe Grüsse aus Hamburg.
It was a very interesting and pedagogic video explaining all the methods and all the "must do before" the upgrade. I sincerely warmy thank you and congratulate for this outstanding job you made an dall the explanations you gave. However, I couldn't see the kdk download option you mentioned: is it due to my hardware since I don't need this component regarding the graphics chipset I have on my MacBook Pro late 2012? Everything was perfectly explained and quite all cases were treated. Last and least, I would have liked to know (and see) what to do if the upgrade fails. I guess that the solution would be to revert to the previous state but I guess too that Apple's software backup coming with all Mac computers, even if it's very safe and secure, doesn't backup the modifications made by Open Legacy Patcher especially in the system core. Could you give us a tip or trick to "roll back"? Many thanks in advance! I of course liled your video, subcribed, shared it with my own network to help you get more and more subscribers. And I'l be glad to get a reply regarding the way to backup and the way to "roll back". Keep on this way, your channel is useful even for ITexperts. Kin regards. BM
Hi and thank you very much. A rollback is quite difficult. I recommend having a backup of important data and setting up the system fresh once. Then the updates should work - maybe wait until I tested them… 😉 if there’s no KDK download you probably don’t need it 👍
Hey Jesse, I wanted to let you know I've been watching your content for a while, and really enjoy your presentation. I have tried Open Core, and have found it to work but there are drawbaks for me being patched vs native. I have an iMac 17,1 that ended with Monterey for native support. I have decided to start the switch to Linux. Starting with Ubuntu as everything works and it gives me backward compatibility with 32bit apps / games unlike modern macos. I felt it was a better solution than staying on Mojave without updates to run those programs, and have no future security fixes. Considering that what breaks in the open core patched versions is 3D acceleration in VMs, and I mainly ran Linux in a VM, it just made since to switch to it as the host.
I thought it was well established that "major updates" e.g. 14.4 to 14.5 are not recommended to be done via OTA plus patching although I can't find the apparently authoritative (looking) source; the Dortania site seems to indicate that OTA updates without patching is the only method.
It’s pretty straightforward, but some info are here: Tutorial: Windows 11 on UNSUPPORTED MACs?!? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XY55DD1Iym8.html
Did not work for me from 14.4.1 to 14.5 with OCLP 1.4.3 on a MBP A1398 via USB. Stuck after credentials login. Edit : boot into Safe mode did the trick.
I successfully upgraded my unsupported 2011 mac to ventura using the open core legacy patcher. But I cannot install Serato DJ Pro. It installs successfully from the Serato website but it won't open. Please help me asap. Thanks
I tried to install Sonoma on a 2011 iMac, it freezes after trying to start via usb maybe 1/20th of the way into one of the load menus. Tried twice both times it fully installs yet refuses to boot
hi, i just started my updating process with 14.5 but im assuming i got it on but now everytime i try to log in it immediately kicks me out and promts me to log on again. Any tips?
I did the update everything and works perfectly but I have a problem and when I close the macbook and open it again, the screen no longer lights up and I have to turn off the macbook completely with the power button.. can someone help me how I can fix it? Or is this due to the opencore legacy patcher?
How to resolve an issue with disappeared touch bar on my mac book pro 2018 with touch bar ? No icons no any activity. So I can't use F1... keys at all.
Hi. Installed on a MacBook Pro 15 2015 Tell me, can I log in using my main account, how safe is it? I want to use it as the main device in conjunction with my devices. Thank you
for me also same problem so i downgraded to ventura now it is running stable every feature works good (daily driver) If you found any fix for the sonoma tell me ? Anyway widget option only useful in sonoma for me
No new version of open core legacy because I guess you have been missing the previous videos on other channels explaining that the developers of open core legacy were anticipating what was coming on the next mac os release and therefore no need for an updated version of open core legacy
Just got my 2012 MBP (I7 and 16GB) back up and running on 14.4.1 after a problematic install. So happy to at least have it back and it seems to be running ok. I am hesitant to roll the dice on the 14.5 update ... is it really necessary or should I wait ....
@JessiesFlying Can I upgrade from 13.6.7 to 14.5 from the Apple Software Update Menu without using the USB drive? I already have the latest Opencore and root patches installed on the SSD. I recently updated to 13.6.7 using this direct method and it worked but of course, that was a minor patch upgrade, not this big jump. If this works, it would really cut down the upgrade time on my MacBook Pro 2015 (11,5).
Hi, love your channel. My iMac 2012 was running perfectly w OCLP on Sonoma. Then (for some reason) I reinstalled the root patches from OCLP thinking to get ready for the New Sonoma update. Now I am unable to log in when the log in screen appears. I type in my pswrd, it accepts but then there is a continuous circle spinning w no log-in. When I boot in OCLP Sonoma Recovery mode I can log in but the iMac runs slowly & poorly without the root patches. Can you help me with this issue?
Did you install OpenCore to your boot disk and reboot? If you want to update first install it, reboot and then install root patches and reboot again, then do macOS update
@@JessiesFlying Thank you. OpenCore was already installed on the boot disc and Sonoma was running perfectly. So I guess I need to reinstall OpenCore. Thanks again, will try.
I ran into an issue updating (clicked the kernal patcher when I shouldn’t have?)… loop at the login of the updated Sonoma (iMac17.1). In the end I needed to create a new OpenCore Legacy USB, and run the update as per the instructions here. Oned difference though, you can not “bless” the USB’s EFI Boot disk as that sent me into another Mac Update loop. after the first install from the USB, restarting from the main hard drive’s updated EFI Boot disk solved my issues.
This was my first incremental update using OCLP on my Mac Pro 2013. I have exactly this issue and I’m not very happy about it. I thought it would be a quick and easy process. What do you mean by “bless”?
Hello, thank you very much for your explanations and excellent explanations. I have been having real problems with my Macbook Pro 13" from 2016 for some time now. It always shows me the black bar at the top of the screen. This is not the case with macOS Ventura. Do you have any idea how I can fix this? Unfortunately, I can't make any changes in the openscore app either Best regards

Hallo, is there a solution vor the usb 1.1 problem? with my macbook pro Model 5.2 i stuck with login window without mouse and keyboard. Both hub´s i tried do not function. Hi, first I have to say I really like your video it's help me a lot, but I have some issue trying to install Sonoma on my Imac 2017 intel, using traditional installer method, I have still a message, tell me my computer are not compatible for Sonoma, and with the openLegacy patcher, it's just bug for the last step, (in some way like the Macbook!) what could I do? thanks for your help and your great and usefully videos, Axel
THANK YOU. Have just updated my 2013 MBP retina just under 90 minutes. Worked first time. Brilliant. Have noticed that running YT increase the temperature by about 10 degrees C. maybe this will settle down. QQQ To change the ssd drive (512MB) can I clone the old drive to the new one (2TB, )before installation?
Anybody ever encountered the problem where a new version of the patcher is available and you download and install, go through the process... and then when you reboot and check again, it still tells you that you're using the old version of the patcher and that the new one is available. Anybody seen this or have a solution?
@@JessiesFlying I've tried deleting Opencore-Patcher then re-downloaded it... Just like before, 1.4.3 runs but when I reboot (which it prompts me to do) it just auto reverts to 1.4.2 and then asks me to download and install 1.4.3 again. Although the root patches say 1.4.3, OCP always reverts back to 1.4.2
I am not really happy with Sonoma on my 27-inch iMac (Late 2012). Ventura was running much better. Is it possible to downgrade to Ventura and restore my Time Machine backup? I have read that it is not possible to downgrade to an older macOS and use a Time Machine backup from a newer macOS. What I found out is that it seems to be possible with a CCC backup (Carbon Copy Cloner). Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

Hi Jessie. Your videos have helped me in installing Ventura on my Mac Pro 2010 5,1. However, when I put my metal graphics card back in, it is not allowing my wifi to work. I can't even get the detail button to function and don't have the option to forget and re-add the networks. Thanks so much. Can you tell me why on my MacPro5,1 (Mid 2010) with a RX580 GPU, sometimes does two things. 1. NaN on the creating of an USB installer disk (Exiting the OCLP App and opening it back up, gives me n.n MB, BTW the calculator also does this NaN, and exiting and re-opening calculations are OK. 2. Sometimes on boot the password does not work, but just shutting down and restarting allows the password to work.
I messed up my MacBook Pro 2015 by applying the 14.5 update. I've spent all week trying to fix it, without success. I generally know what I'm doing, and have been using macs since 1987
Thank you very much for this precious and precise information! I have watched the topic on Mr Macintosh‘s channel until now and he is with no doubt very informative to watch but he talks too hectic and fast for my liking 😂.
I must say, when no new patcher is released, I will not do this. I used the current version on the former MacOS Sonoma version and for the first time in a long time, 2 of my Mac’s crashed after one day of use. The rock solid MacBookPro 13” mid 2012, and the iMac 2011. I had to reïnstall both of them with a backup of an older working version.
I mean... testing map labels transparency, but you never try for example changing language settings, for some settings like that it asks me for a password and my user password does not work... seems related to firmware or touch id (it is a mbp late 2016)
