MBP 15' mid 2015 and iMac 27' end 2015 with SSD HDs flawlessly updated. Both with the new KDK version and OCLP 😊 1.3.0. Many thanks again. Always good to wait for your advice. Regards from Germany.
Also updated my MBP 15 inch 2015 from 14.2.1 to 14.3. I have the feeling it runs hotter and the fans spin more often. Can you tell if you have the same issues? Thanks
@@deerstalker9882thanks for your reply. Yeah the MacBook was very hot during the installation. But for me now when playing a RU-vid video the MacBook gets hot an the fans start spinning. I think with 14.2.1 they didn’t. Maybe I have to check it myself. Thanks anyway ;)
Another idea is you may clean the fan and air channels under your MB. Maybe „it can’t take breath“. 😮 When a new system is installed it may can take a while before all files are completely installed. This is also the case on iPhone and iPad. I think there is no reason to get nervous… regards from Germany.
Just upgraded from 14.1 to 14.3 on mid 2011 27" non metal video card using OCLP, all went well, no issues. However second day awakening the computer from sleep mode lost Bluetooth. Did V ram reset and all well again. Thanks again Mr Mac for your hard work.
Usually I wait for you to post a vid before I upgrade, but this time I jumped right in as soon as it was announced. I checked OCLP for updates, and when I saw there wasn't one I thought"why not?". ( iMac 13,2, 3.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 with32GB RAM. I DO have builds of Monterey and Ventura to boot to....... just in case. ) So far it's been fine. One thing. I keep a bootable installer drive handy. I was trying to install windoze via bootcamp and something went awry and the EFI bootloader was corrupted. You aren't getting in when that happens. So I installed Monterey, with OCLP, and was able to get the bootloader back and all has been good, my Ventura and Sonoma installs were all just as I had left them. Just a FYI, in case anyone else is as stupid as me....
I don’t know if this is meant at 12:30 in the video, but on an iMac 13,2 (27“ end 2012 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX) I installed 14.3. I did a clean install with apps and data from time machine backup. After reboot it shows a black screen with only a mouse arrow for a few seconds. Then the Sonoma background with login is visible but there are no inputs accepted, neither mouse nor keyboard (both wired) - after a few seconds the screen is black again (mouse arrow can be moved), then it switches again to login screen and so on. Wait or power off doesn't help - thanks for your support
I have a 2016 Macbook Pro I accidentally did the new update and I couldn’t use the mouse or keyboard. Later on the screen turned Green with a small dot that was purple. I refreshed the macbook downloaded a new copy of MacOs Sonoma. Everything seems to work normal now but My keyboard light won’t work and my touch bar and touch ID doesn’t work. It seems that i can’t find a solution. Can you please help me?
My Mac M1 is stil asking for update after this Sonoma 14.3 update. But i'm running it from external HD due to lack of storage on my Mac Mini. I suppose that's nit the reason!?
Hello! Can i use Time machine the same way on unsupported Mac with Sonoma like normal way? I mean, I'm making backup with Time machine to an external HD, than in case of trouble could I put back the whole system and all the data?
Maybe very good depending on if you have upgraded your ram and ssd I haven’t yet but it is still running good I’m running 8gb with hdd mbp 15inch mid 2010 just did the latest update last night very happy
I have 2 ssd's internal ...one of 512 GB where it is operating System big el sur, and another one with 1 TB, and external ssd 1 TB Verbatim, 16 GB of ram DDR3
great video! I just upgraded my 2011 21in mid model to Sonoma but I can't get my Bluetooth to work anymore. the Bluetooth symbol is grayed out with a line through it. when I go to Bluetooth setting and turn it on the symbol remains the same and the slide button automatically turns back off. any suggestions?
is there a new open core update , I did the most stupid thing and and updated to 14.4 beta1. please can you warn your viewers do not do the same silly thing that I did as everything is slow down to an absolute snail pace 80% of it doesn't work and I hope this information helps you and your viewers don't make the same mistake.
Do NOT accidentally install the 14.4 beta on top of this …. Kills your machine ….. now waiting for the actual 14.4 release and subsequent OCLP update as well
I have been trying to get my Bluetooth turned on for an iMac late 2009 that is now running Sonoma 14.3 and OCLP 1.3.0 with all root patches done. I've got a USB powered hub that I have a working wired keyboard, wired mouse and external USB drive (TimeMachine) for backup. When I try to turn on Bluetooth - I get a beachball spinning in the Bluetooth icon. I've tried to reset Bluetooth and rebooted. No luck.
I tried this several times using my PC wired keyboard (I did it several times with the keyboard plugged into the iMac Late 2009 and also keyboard plugged into a powered USB hub) but Bluetooth does not get enabled. @@GasSquadUk
I was told to shut down and then press shift, options, R and Power button until you hear two chimes . THIS DID NOT WORK FOR ME IT JUST TOOK ME IN TO DISK UTILITY . INSTEAD TRY THIS ….. shut down then press options , shift , R , P and the power button until you hear two chimes , this did it for me
Thanks to everyone involved in keeping our older mac's running and thanks to you Mr Macintosh for the terrific overview and presentation Regards from sunny Northern Ireland 😊
imac late 2013 i7 32gb ram & 1tg. SSD, updated from 14.2.1 to 14.3 - No issues installing, once logged in Opencore open and I had to reinstall all the patches, then on reboot everything working perfectly just fine.
thks for all what you do ☺ i have macbook pro 2012 i install sonoma 14.2 with oclp can i update my system to 14.3 is it safe 😕 the size of the update is 13.37 GB is it normal 🤔
It is totally safe. I have MacBook Pro Early 2011 13", and it went great. Older macs with oclp have always the 13.37 GB updates, because they need to download the hole installer.
27" 2013 iMac (14,2), straight-forward OS update via System Settings, had to apply Root Patches twice, but no further issues, everything working perfectly.
Sonoma: Photos App still crashing❗- Memories / editing Portrait pics ❓ Are these already known bugs and are there any solutions ❓ Photo App: Memories - Crashing by clicking on Reminders + Portrait Pics - Crashing by clicking edit button Please note that my MacBook Pro is a base model, i.e. it is only equipped with an integrated graphics card. 👉🏻 my system: 15" MacBook Pro [rMBP 11,2 Mid 2014 / only Intel Iris Pro] 👉🏻 issues since macOS 14.2 (before I was using Ventura) + OCLP 1.3.0; still now macOS 14.3 + OCLP 1.4.0 nightly (01.24)
I did the update on macbookpr 2012 and imac late 2015 with no problem. Only thing is after update you have to enter the safe mode and then use the OCLP to patch and then restart...
Hi, appreciate the video. Just to add to the feedback, smooth upgrade via settings to Sonoma 14.3 on a late 2013 iMac. Reapplied the root patches using oclp 1.3.0, rebooted and all smooth running so far.
Hello, same here, updated through software update and was fine except for having to reapply the root patches. Now you mention that you did that too I’m feeling better because I thought that my system has a glitch.
Sonoma 14.3 is too large to create a bootable installer on a 16GB flash drive even though Apple officially says a 14GB drive is sufficient. I've tried it using both Terminal and the create install media command and using the OCLP 1.3.0 app, and each time I get a failure message saying that an additional 426MB is needed. Tried multiple different 16GB drives from SanDisk and PNY, and none of them are large enough to create a bootable installer.
@@flowntn1989 yes, as long as he is stating that I guess there is no reason to upgrade, might also skip Sonoma and wait for the next version, Ventura runs totally okay (damn I miss the older macOS versions though, if just they could still run all the newest software).
My only ever real mac (hackintosh before that) my Mac mini 2012 i7 2.6ghz eBay £300 and 2nd SSD drive kit now running nicely with 14.3, thanks so much for the confirm. Everything went well, I think three reboots. I downloaded the full 14.3 installer first into the Applications folder from your link and ran from there. Booted finally with no graphics acceleration, the no wallpaper mode etc, OCLP 1.3.0 installed the root patches for me and I rebooted to a perfect install. Very happy. Comment for the algorithm.
@@flowntn1989 This mini was purchased with OCLP Monterey 12.5 I think, I downgraded to 'supported' Catalina final, then decided to OCLP to Sonoma 14.1.2 > 14.2.1 and now 14.3 🙂
Hi I’ve done the update but my MacBook Pro 2016 Touch Bar keyboard and trackpad or WiFi n control center not working I’ve tried root patching but still doesn’t work any ideas?
With 14.3 update on a 2013 MacBook Pro 13-inch I did encounter the black screen and was successful after power-off and power-on to get the patches screen and after another restart 14.3 is running fine. Thank you OCLP 1.3.0!
Hi Mr McIntosh I have been followed your Chanel for one year. I have been able to update my early 0:18 2017 mac pro sonoma update. Everything was working good until I updated to sonoma 14.1.1. I have tried to update my computer to 14.3.3 and have been not able to do it. Could you please help me? And could you go slowly step by step please Thank you
👍🏻 Oh yes, please give us more information on the possible uses of Content Caching. Would appreciate your help🙏🏻: Unfortunately, it is not as easy to install macOS with OCLP on an external disk - at least if you have already installed macOS + OCLP on the internal disk before (e.g. internal disk: macOS Ventura / external disk: Sonoma). During the installation process my MacBook Pro 11,2 (mid 2014) starts automatically 4/5 times. 👉🏻 Each time my MacBook Pro wants to boot from the internal disk. I then have to turn off the Mac completely and restart it while holding down the option key again and select EFI Boot, then the installation process. Then it continues until the next reboot.I have to do this a total of 4/5 times until the initial setup screen appears. 👉🏻 Is there a solution for this so that the system uses the correct OCLP EFI etc. when rebooting during the installation❓
I love OCLP on my 18,3 iMac. I just wish the setting for show boot picker would stick after a macOS update. I turn that setting off, and every time I do an OS update and OCLP reinstalls, the boot picker is back on. Alas.
MBP15 mid 2012 OCLP 13.0: 14.2 along with 17.2.1 prevented music library sync with iPhone. No problem with iPod and iPad sync. Now, with 14.3 and 17.3, music library partially syncs but messes up the playlist. Certain ticked playlists are subconsciously deleted from the MBP during syncing. This can be a serious issue for the next 3 years. Unless resolved, there is no point in proceeding with Sonoma on unsupported devices.
MBP 15in mid 2014 still has the display port issue, but otherwise all good. Mac Mini 2012: my daily driver running Ventura pending your green light to upgrade to Sonoma 14.3........ now? Caching video: yes please.
Mr Macintosh, maybe you will recognize an issue after updating Sonoma 14.1 to 14.3 on MacBook Pro 15 mid 2015 (I have 2 video cards, intel/amd). I use OCLP 1.3.0 and usb drive. Before start update I installed proper KSK package. After installing new software Mac stoped on login screen. I couldn’t write password because indicator started spinning. And screen goes black for a seconds and back to login screen. And so on, some king of looping . I have only one way to run system, using save mode. In save mode I have problem with graphic I think because when a tried to open any pic or pdf file the preview made problem and system frizzed for a while. Any ideas what solve this issue?
in regards to the KDK's on OCLP devices - do we need to keep old KDK's (i.e., 13.5 and 14.2) once we update to 14.3? or can we safely delete old versions? Thanks for all your help and support!
Way over my head. I have olcp 1.3.0 already. So I run the 14.3 update first and then it will tell me if/when I need to install patches? imac desktop 21.5 inch late 2013 2.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
Hello everyone, I have recently upgraded my 2015 MacBook Pro to Sonoma using OCLP so thanks to everyone who makes this possible. I find that I am unable to use Migration Assistant to transfer all my data from my other MacBook, has anyone any thoughts on why this should be and what can be done to overcome the problem, thanks in advance.
I have a late 2012 15" MacBook Pro Retina. I ran the update let the machine reboot. The background was black. I ran opencore legacy patcher and did the root patch. It rebooted and when I go to login, I type the password, hit enter, get the spinning circle, the circle goes away, and the desktop never loads. In fact, the clock stops too. Is there a way to fix this? I had some music ideas on the internal drive that I don't want to lose.
@@TheKubusiu Right now I'm installing OS to a USB drive. I'll try to boot from that drive and then copy files that I want to save to a different drive and then just wipe the original install once I back up everything. Unless someone comes up with a better idea on how to fix this login issue (cause I'd rather not go and reinstall all of that software for music creation)
I had to use that old Monterey usb key I had. Booted from the USB key, then erased the whole HD and installed Monterey. Things went ok, then updated to Sonoma and finally recovered my files thanks to time machine. Post install root patch went smoothly this time.
My Bluetooth is now working again after following your steps thank you, also I understand the issue with maps is not fixable that’s ok as google maps works fine with street view. One other issue is I can’t seem to play any content within the Apple TV app it closes the video straight away I have authorised the computer any ideas I don’t know of any other bugs myself
Looks like Apple already pulled it or screwed up once again - I'm getting an error right away (M1 mini) "User interaction required. An error occurred while installing the selected updates."
Going thru "More Info", I get "Authentication failure. An error occurred while installing the selected updates." Yeah, password is correct ... MacOS has become a mess
This guys voice sounds a lot like he has something he really has to tell your kid but he can only tell you after school if you skip the bus and let him drive you home. 🤫
Hello, I have a 2015 MacBook Air, I upgraded to Sonoma 14 and I'm having problems with WiFi & Bluetooth functionality, the WiFi settings page is blank. Cannot freely choose to connect to WiFi. when using zoom video conferencing, the camera interoperability feature with the iPhone does not successfully launch the iPhone's camera either. Please give technical support, thank you!
Update didn’t go well. Computer boots about 1/3 of the way then stalls. After a while the screen goes black. Waited 20 minutes. Tried restarting several times only to stall at the same location. Rebooted from an external drive to install patches but OLCP won’t allow me to install post install patches to the internal drive.
thanks for this video very helpful. But my problem is when i installing macos sonoma in my macbook pro 2017, NO internal drive on disk utility! Can you help me how to fix it? Thank you so much
thanks! prof. i'm fully work fine on imac 2011 27 (GPU HD4850--😅) with oclp 1.3.0 and sonoma. Only one issue is a sleep mode and wake up after black screen can't solve .
Late 2013 MBP 15” here and just got Sonoma 14.3 from 14.2. The only issue I’m still experiencing since I got senoma is that if for some reason the machine crashes or after updating the OS system like I did today, the machine boots with no graphics recognized. Screen fonts are to small, sluggish mouse… to solve that i launch OpenCore and post install the root patch. Any idea if I can get that issue solved for good?
I just tried this on a 2017 Macbook Air. I'm absolutely shocked that Sonoma is running smooth for me. It was struggling on initial boot until Opencore did it's automatic root patching, then everything has been surprisingly smooth since. This patcher is really a miraculous tool.
mr.machintos hello. The device I have: (macbook air a1181) is from 2007 and has macOS X 10.6.8 installed. So it is an unsupported computer. The app store cannot connect, Google does not update. What do you recommend for this computer for daily work? Which version and how do I install it? If you can help me, I would be very grateful.
I have a problem with my 2013 iMac & bluetooth keyboard each time i wake up my session when i need to login, i don't understand why, i tried to revert and apply patches again but the problem is still there
Hi, I just updated my Macbook 2015 from ventura to Sonoma through Software update. After that my safari couldn’t play any video in Crunchyroll and Netflix. Try to reset the safari, still nothing. Anyone get this?
My upgraded macbook pro mid 2012 2.9ghz dual core i7 1tb nvme 16gb 1600mhz ddr3 lagging using sonoma 14.2. Downgrade to venture and the result almost good. Anybody can advise which OS smooth to operate? Monterey or big sur would be good?
Just subscribed and this video wasn't on the playlist for OS Sonoma updates; but my question is: Why does an OCLP update seem to be something like a reinstall of the OS i.e. it was about 16GB; is there some video explaining the OCLP processes?
Hi Mr Macintosh, thank you very much for the update! I have a Macbook pro late 2013 model and i'm running Sonoma 14.3 without any issues. The install was from 14.2.1, very smooth process.
I just finished my transition to Sonoma using the legacy patch on a 2011 iMac when this updated came out. I was nervous but decided to go ahead and install the update based upon this feedback assuming everything would work out. Unfortunately, it seemed to break my graphics. The screen remained white and none of my apps would open up. Then I had to completely start over with a fresh installaion on the 14.2 because the system would not allow me to downgrade. If you have a 2011 iMac, I would suggest waiting and hoping some of these issues are resolved.
I would like to see a video explaining if a dual-boot from the same SSD is possible. I tried it with Sonoma and High Sierra on a 2013 MBP. The Sonoma part worked, but the High Sierra container received some files I did not want in there and when I deleted this container the Sonoma part got damaged too. Never had such happen when I used the Partition scheme. Now I'm just thinking it's not possible and going to put High Sierra on a SSD into the Optical Drive Bay.
I'm very much interested in software caching sinds i have more legacy machines, i would love to see the exact way you are doing it since i don't have a server🙂.
I keep getting stuck in the recovery screen loop where it downloads and it restarts and does the process but when it turns on it just goes back into the recovery screen
My MacPro 2010 which I updated to Monterey 12.7.2 updated mysteriously to Sonoma which I do not want. Can I use a Time Machine backup of OCLP to restore my Monterey OS?
Yes, my 2012 MBP was forced to upgrade to latest Sonoma by Apple. There are 50+ reports about it on MacIntouch. I had a back up, but nothing I could boot from. Had to make an installed , wiped the driveway and reinstalled. I went back to Centura and all is well. My MBP did not run well on Sonoma.
Well for anyone who wants to know, Mac pro 5,1 2010-2012 is working fine with this update and no problems occurred while doing the install. The method for 2010 model ( USB Prep and install ) and 2012 method ( Software Update through system settings ) no problems either. If you are having issues at all with either of these Mac Pro's 5,1 2010's leave a comment on here and I will be happy to assist you with a trouble shoot work around. Cheers everyone.
You're running Sonoma on those? Is it reliable? I have Monterey running fine on my 2012 Mac Pro 5,1 and am cautious about running anything later just yet. This machine is my sole computer at the moment though I may get another one in the summer. I have more than one SSD in it, so I could try Sonoma on one SSD and keep Monterey on another one I guess.
The TDK gets downloaded while doing the update through system settings and the install was just fine. Stable and no issues at all. Worth doing the update itself. If not comfortable, at least go for Ventura which is also very very reliable still.@@FireAngelOfLondon
I installed it on both my mid 2012 MB Pros, but it takes about two minutes before I can start using it from the start screen. Any suggestions? Thank you.
What method did you use? Usb or through update? I think it's a easier was just to make a usb method to make a installer and do it that way. And it also depend on your hardware your using. SSD? NVME drive? Spinning HDD? Also do a PRAM reset to clear out the system to fix it. P+R+Option+Command@@juanvera9246
I've installed Sonoma on both of my 2012 MBPros. Is it supposed to take about 2 minutes before it can start working? It works, but when I start up my machine it takes about two minutes for everything to load and then I can use it. Thanks for all your help.
I thought I had an issue free upgrade on my 2013 iMac (14,2) but now when I reboot I also get this (about) 2 minute delay. The dock loads immediately, the menu bar and icons loads after about 2 minutes, and then the desktop icons load last - the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar is always the last thing to load. I had a similar issue with booting with a previous Sonoma upgrade as well, but it settled done after about a week.
