The scene of "The flyers call it: TOPGUN" gives me chill everytime I watch it. Now reading this "Humanity now calls the ship... MACROSS" does exactly the same.
I need an Ace combat like game set in macross...and I need it to come out in the frikking west. Macross 30 is cool and all but the story is almost impossible to follow
Well Macross 30 was a story about the Protoculture's time machine which the NUN'S found in a planet where there is a lot of mystery due to time machine placed there. But it was still a fun game. I would like a Macross game that is sets in one of 50 Imegration fleets trying to find a planet and entering an area filled with a lot roge Zentradi and the Anti-UN forces as well.
@@mrdriver2988 Ahh sorry I meant as a western. Because I don't understand any language from Asia...So I can't read the text or understand the speech in the game. I still think it's a great little action RPG :D
@@JNPollard If you are referring to Robotech: Battlecry that came out on xbox, ps2 and GameCube yes I played it. I enjoyed it but it was NOTHING like Ace combat IMO. Let me be clear...it's a fine game but not as good as ace combat or macross 30 (but I am a bit of an RPG fan so).
Man, I remember this awesome cartoon back in the 80s. I`d run back home from school so I wouldn`t miss any of the episodes in that first series. Rick Hunter and Min Mei, then finally Lisa Hayes.
I wish Toho would. Yamazaki did a fun Space Battleship Yamato novie and then got Godzilla an Oscar, so I bet those two could make a respectable live version of Macross.
japanime is called blend or portmanteau, japanese anime is redundant but a good case of natural redudancy in linguistics in general. anime is from japanese abbreviating native way of them eg search wasei eigo. anime is from shortening animeeshon to just anime.アニメーション>アニメ @@krunchyfrogg
If Tatsunoko Productions is too busy to build the thing, JJ Seidelman might be a good alternative animator (did a Volkswagen commercial that replicated the look of "Speed Racer" - a Tatsunoko series from the late '60s)
that was freaking awesome! I'm 50 years old and this video made me feel like a kid again. Robotech was my favorite cartoon as a kid. thanks for the video! 👍
Greatest thing about MACROSS was that they studied real naval aviation footage to make their planes realist. My favorite shot is 2:28 when they were testing the flaps, and 2:42 when the plane sank a little shortly after leaving the deck, it shows the artists did their homework. Beautiful!
Did you know that Macross Plus was based on the competition between Northrop’s YF-23 and Lockheed’s YF-22? Producers had unprecedented access to Edwards Air Force Base. That’s why the Test Flight Center is called New Edwards and looks just like the actual one.
Not sure how I missed this one! I really haven't liked any updated/revamped Macross openings, but this one, was truly ( to me) a modern, fitting update. It felt very "free" with the realistic radio chatter, and blending of the shots. This is BEAUTIFUL! Slick, and professional. Whoever blended, and mixed this seamlessly, has put in a ton of work. Amazing job!
@@sergiorobertomuller5089 we still have to wait until an Alien spaceship crashes into earth so we can reverse engineer theur technology. But until then i will wait.
The only change I’d make in a live-action (yes, I’d even keep the uniforms) is to do like real Navy pilots and add some personality to their helmets, maybe inspired by F14 squadrons. Roy, of course, would be the Jolly Rodgers, Rick the Sundowners, Ben the Starfighters and Max… well, the Pukin’ Dogs is the mostly blue one, though Grim Reapers seems to fit him better.
It works so well. It's no secret that the Macross Valkyrie design strongly resembles an F-14 because Shōji Kawamori was heavily inspired by watching Top Gun.
To recall i had playable macross valkyrie toy looked like the model in video 20-30 years ago, and didnt know it was from Macross anime until i watched macross frontier 10 years 😂
It's a mash up of the macross ps1 game do you remember love and the macross 25th or 30th anniversary opening of the macross saga but they match up pretty well ☺☺☺
gran anime macross enamora sus diseños y personajes y la cantante de su época que aún sigue enamorando a quieres la ven y las nuevas generaciones sus personajes y su estilo enamoran a cualquiera el dibujo antiguo y no el de ahora
Brian K. Robinson was a good friend; I definitely appreciated the good times which I spent with the Robinson family in Washington, Baltimore, and Alabama. And I still consider the Robinson family as friends, especially because they were a United States of America 🇺🇸 military family :)
@@peteryeung4244 Those scenes are from the pachinko game, which came out in 2009. It's basically like a remaster of the TV series opening. This was later included as an extra in the SDF Macross bluray box set. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hx_zDqmsBcQ.html
The F-14 is such an inspiration! At least two video games, three feature films, and this Japanese sci-fi franchise comprise the Tomcat's pop-culture legacy.
For those trying to imagine a live-action film, given this fusion, imagine this: The setting is bumped forward in time, to perhaps the 2060s, and the formative journey from "callow noob" to "warrior and leader" centers on an ensign whose dad served with Nick Bradshaw, Jr. (Goose's son). In such a story, this petit officer's "Uncle Nick" could be a professional mentor, although probably not quite like Roy Fokker.
EEEK! The resulting film would probably include a "memorial card" to both Tony Scott (director, "Top Gun") and Arihiro Hase (voice actor for "Hikaru Ichijo", "Macross")
@dan d Not sure. Maybe the explosion noise around 3:10 when the carrier goes up? Ironically probably picked up more Starcraft effects, think a Protoss collector and marines firing or maybe Goliaths?
Normally I roll my eyes when I see another "Top gun" or "Aces High" Macross Video. Though I love the music in both cases I tend to find them both overdone. However, this Video stands out and stands out nicely. Though I did note some minor technical issues (some of the talking parts as Der Hans pointed out above) and an audio distortion issue at around 3:41. Otherwise, a well put together video. I also recommend Winged Sentinels ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZkqLa_txvlQ.html ) One of the few other examples of a well put together Macross video, (Macross Frontier), using Top Gun music, (Mighty Wings in this case).
The VF1 being clearly inspired by the Tomcat (I hear even "in-universe") is why I consider "Macross" part of the marks that warplane left on popular culture.
