I think this is made by a fan or a group of fans. I don't think this is made by Bandai at all. They would have created a huge sign stating that this belongs to them, and explaining that this is a representation of a Macross Valkyrie. No corporation would invest in something like this without clearly showing it's brand and all the associated property logos. I think someone managed to build and place this huge thing on what seems to be a Chinese airport (maybe a train station?). And if that is so, it deserves a big applause for the effort, money and passion put into it regardless of how slow the transformation is.
I work heavily with automation as manufacturing engineer and feel this is unacceptable. I could get that thing to transform so fast you would need to record it in slow motion to figure out would happened. Bandai should really contact someone from FANUC to get this sorted out.

we are limited by the technology of our time, chips and processors have shrunk, but the motors and powerplants have grown to uncompromising levels. we're going to have to play catch up. the valkyrie was the pinnacle of balance during its conception; mobility, all range, and just plain tough.

Consider that you're watching this in slow-motion in order to be able to see all the points of articulation and how the transformation is accomplished.... it makes more sense, then. ;-)
Dumb question: shouldn't the wings have swept even further back in going to Battroid mode? I once thought the idea was to resemble a trenchcoated infantryman-albeit big enough to fist-fight a Zentraedi soldier.
Back to the old days, it's a pretty good Mecha concepts, but when u grown older, starts to think about the joint's durability in reality. End of the day, just take it as a anime logic 😅
The military often times have that exact questioning when a new, more complex piece of hardware is presented and it took them a ridiculous amount of time to ditch single shot rifles. Eventually new technology becomes so advanced that it completely outweighs the disadvantage of having more points of failure.
