The way SAS describes CP3, it applies to Mad Dog. Every time Mad Dog shows up on ESPN on Wednesdays, the show gets better. Mad Dog has that charisma. Like you think he's delusional but it's not so mean-spirited like Skip back in the day.
Dude's a Boomer all the way, but he's unapologetic about it and that energy makes it fun. Also I would slide Curry to 2 or 3, but I would say that's actually a solid list he has. But damnit he's got to be trolling with Cousy haha. Also Jerry West is a 2 guard, no one thinks of him as a PG. I thought Stephen A was going to call him a hypocrite for Nash since Nash has never made a finals, but he came out of left field with Jerry west lol.
He was incredible....you may look a this highlights and laugh at his hook shots and one handed shots but stop and think for a second just how difficult those shots are to pull off....those were elements of the game then and he mastered them....had he been playing today he would of adjusted his style. Bob is arguably the greatest passer of all time...give him his respect. Plus, Bob was doing all of this without the trainers, coaches, resources, etc. that all of today's players have....Bob was ahead of his time.
Put some DAM RESPECT ON BOB COUSYS NAME , HIM AND J STOCKTON CONTROLLED THE GAME WITH THIER GREAT MINDS IQ , THEY OUTSMARTED THE BROTHERS WHO WHERE MORE GIFTED PHYSICALY , WE PLAY THE GAME FROM THE NECK UP
I know he never won a ring... But are we going to ignore the brilliance of John Stockton? He has a steal and assists record that no one is going to touch.
true, but remember he played with Karl Malone for about 20 years......if some like CP3 played with Malone for that long he would have close to the same records
He hasnt won much but so hasnt a lot of great point guards in the history as the number 1 option. CP3 has been the best player on contenders for most of his career, is a consistent 20+10 guy and is the true definition of point guard. I have him behind Magic, Steph, Oscar and Isiah and tied with Stockton at 5. Nash and Kidd also did not have much team success as the number 1 option on their teams
@@Nick-pf5xo Kidd much better as a leader and defender. only thing CP3 is better at is scoring. Kidd went to the finals twice though as the main guy with not much talent like cp3, stockton and nash had. Kidd more versatile, can play more off the ball and can defend multiple positions than those 3. he did defend kobe, lebron, durant, wade and westbrook during the 2011 championship run. I think if Kidd was in his prime with a prime Dirk. they could have won at least 2 championship. CP3 was in a very talented team in his days with the clippers, rockets and even new orleans but was unable to get to the conference finals until last year where most of the teams they faced were without their stars. Nash also had great talented teammates in his time with the mavericks, suns and lakers but he was a liability on defense and only emerge as a great player in a d'antoni type system. Stockton had malone most of his career. They were a great duo but stockton never carried a team like some of the best point guards did. Malone was the best player during those Jazz run in the 90s. 1. Magic Johnson 2. Steph Curry 3. Oscar Robertson 4. Isiah Thomas 5. Jason Kidd This is the top 5 PG of All Time for me.
Magic is basically consesus 1 IT is basically consensus 3. Most ppl have steph 2 big o at 4 then that 5th spot is debatable. The funny thing is that this list is actually good for mad dog standards🤣💀
it's crazy to me that. Zeek isn't automatic 2 like my dude beat Kareem, Magic, Michael the goat Jordan, Arguably the best forward ever Larry Bird, Prime Wilkins, Benard King and Patrick.
And u got dudes up here commenting talking about mad dog overrating him.. Nah Kidd the most unappreciated player of all time.. these casuals think u have to shoot 3 pointers like curry
Either have Curry #2 or don't have him on the list at all because he's not a true point guard, but don't keep him on the list and also penalize him for not being a true point guard. Also if you're talking about traditional point guards Stockton needs to be in the top 5. He lacked a lot athletically and he's damaged his legacy with the anti-vax stuff, but in terms of being a passer and a floor general he's easily in the top 5. So either go all in with guards who played the 1 and have Curry at #2 or go all in on traditional point guards and have Stockton way higher but Steph not on the list. This list just changed the requirements for each pick in an effort to keep CP3 off it.
The fact that people think Stocktons legacy in basketball is damaged because he is specifically against the rushed covid vax (not anti vax in general) is a joke. It's a woke joke , shouldn't be mentioned unless you are a puppet of the corporate greed system we are all exposed to
This is a very solid point 🤝 Steph is indisputably among the BEST if we're talking about the Best Overall players that played the Pos1. The only argument that can challenge that was the fact that he's not really a Traditional/Pure/True PG, u really have to either Put him #2(anything lower is an insult) and he's not even done yet, or isolate him coz he won't fit those PG rankings 'Qualifications'
How does OG have STEPH in an not STOCKTON... STEPH better player but not better PG... STOCKTON may have been the Goat like MAGIC because STOCKTON was 9x NBA Assist Leader.... Jason Kidd the most unappreciated player of all time.. casuals basketball fans think u need to have to shoot 3 pointers like curry to be great.. Not understanding Kidd after magic Johnson was the greatest facilitator ever and can dominate a game without shooting a shot attempt
imagine having a top 5 PG list of all time and not having at least 1 or 2 of CP3, Stockton, or Nash....not having a single 1 of the 3 purest Point guards of all time
@@Comictalent kyrie and Westbrook should be there before lillard, and future potential production isn’t an argument for a top 10 or 15 list. At best you can say lillard might reach it but he isn’t there yet
@@Kirbystare1992 No, they are nowhere near the athlete he is, but I don't believe you punish old players historically just because the game changes and players improve. I'm sure Cousy could never guard Westbrook one-on-one. But I also don't think Westbrook has had the career Cousy did in his era. I think both points matter.
1. Magic Johnson 2. Oscar Robertson 3. Steph Curry 4. Isaiah Thomas 5. John Stockton 6. Jason Kidd 7. Steve Nash 8. Garry Payton 9. Chris Paul 10. Jerry West
Stockton and Malone are so severely underrated for all-time great lists and I don't know why. Yes, they lost 2 Finals to the undisputed GOAT, but they lost 2 Finals to the undisputed GOAT. Also, the Bulls support players were far superior to the Jazz's. If the Jazz had Rodman, they'd win 5 titles in a row. Stockton is 1st in Steals and Assists all-time and doesn't make a top 5 PG list? That's just insane.
To Round out Doggies list for a top 10, I would have added CP3 and the Glove. Gary Payton was great. One of the few guards to win Defensive Player of the year.
1. Magic 2. Kidd 3. Curry 4. Zeke 5. Oscar 6. CP3 Kidd is top 5 for sure. Arguably the most skilled passer to ever touch a basketball. The 2nd only to GP as the greatest defensive pg of all time. He was a 2nd coach on the floor and was a legit triple-double and rebounding machine when he needed to be.
When you’re a point guard who can only pass and aren’t a good scorer, you’re easy to defend. I like Kidd but you’re way overrating him. CP3 is a better shooter, a better general on the court, better scorer and just as good of a defender.
@@amitpalbains9361 not a good scorer? He's 12th all time in made 3 pointers and scored 17,000 points. Not sure how you reach either of those bench marks by being bad at scoring. Also..CP3 is brilliant as a floor general but Jason's leadership on the court was on another level. It could be a matter of preference but Olympic coaches & his peers vouch for his brilliance. He also won a ring (Chris hasn't yet) beating Lebron and the Miami big 3.
@@willjamesjr lol you must think I’m dumb trying to fool me with the wrong type of stats. Kidd averaged 12 points a game playing 36 minutes a night, yes, he wasn’t a scorer. On top of that, he shot 40% for his career from the field. That’s god awful. Don’t come at me with longevity stats. Aw the great ring debate. Kidd averaged 9 points and 7 assists in the playoffs that year. Kidd wasn’t the reason they won. Kidd probably wasn’t even the third most impactful player on the team. It was Dirk and Terry, and then you can make a case that Tyson Chandler and Shawn Marion were more impactful then Kidd. He wasn’t even a great starter. He was a good starter and or you can say he was a great role player but that’s all he was. Kidd winning with the mavericks is like if Chris Paul joined the bucks and won a championship.
Mad Dog isn't saying Bosh Spice or Westbrick. He'll criticize them but he doesn't resort to name-calling. That's the difference between him and Skip. He'll say Ayton is overrated but that's it.
I saw Jason Kidd in h.s. against DC Allstars at Univ. Of Maryland. Scariest thing I may have ever seen!!!! He was everywhere!! I thought he was on speed.
To be honest, I would put all these guys he mentioned in his top five point guards on my list, just in a different order lol. #1. Magic Johnson #2. Stephen Curry #3. Isiah Thomas #4. Oscar Robertson #5. Jason Kidd
Stockton pretty much defined the PG position. He made players around him better. All time leader in assists for a reason. Great defender as well since he's the all time leader in steals. IMO, he's better than Kidd. I know he has no chip, but he still is the definition of PG. Kidd may have 1 chip, but that's cuz he rode on Dirk's back for it
J Kidd was really really good glad to see him at 4 cause i actually agree with Mad Dogg but my 5th player is toss up between Stockton and CP3...I was never sold on Curry.
Stockton not in the top 5 is hilarious. He might be the human version of khakis but dude was arguably the goat pg. Like all time leader in steals and assists.
Earvin is a lot different than his alter ego, Magic. Two different people. Magic smiles. Earvin off camera is closer to Michael Jordan's personality than you think. If you hear Magic cuss, it's a shock. But when he's Earvin, don't be.
1. Magic 2. Curry 3. Stockton 4. Thomas 5. Big O 6. Jason Kidd 7. CP3 8.Steve Nash 9.jerry west 10.Gary Payton/ Cousy Honestly 2-4 and 5-7 you could put in any order imo
This might sound crazy but I like his top 8. He said switch the order if you want so I would switch curry and Robertson. I would consider switching nash and Kidd but don’t hate having nash at 6 even though he’s my favourite player all-time. And to round out a top 10 I’d put Gary Payton 9 and Chris Paul 10 although I could put them either order
Yeah, I always thought CP3 was overrated so I like mad dog’s list! The show may actually be better without Max Keller man everyday even though I liked him
i have lost 100 % of respect for mad dog for putting the greatest pg of all time at 5. Mad dog is the old head at the park who tells everybody to hit the backboard. steph curry has won 3 championships compared to oscar robertson who eats basketballs for a living now. Wardellion stephenostrious curry id the greatest point guard of all time no question .
I know someone who doesn't rank Curry as a point guard but as a shooting guard yes and I totally understand why but for me I have him as a point guard but Curry can play the point guard position enough for sure and he's been listed as a point guard for most of his career so far but today's point guards are mostly score first. My top 5 (imo) Magic Oscar Isiah Curry Stockton Honorable mentions Kidd Peyton Cp3 Parker Billups Lowry Nash
1. Magic 2. Steph (but I think he'll become #1) 3. Oscar Robertson 4. Chris Paul (will jump to #3 with a championship) 5. Steve Nash 6. Walt Frazier 7. Isiah Thomas 8. Russell Westbrook 9. Damian Lilliard 10. Jason Kidd
If I’m being SUPER generous, I think you could get away with saying Curry is #4 and still have some credibility. The Big O is a top 10 player according to ESPN and along side Curry and Magic has an MVP, and Isiah Thomas is the only person who can say he beat prime Jordan, Bird, and Magic. And I love Jason Kidd. To me he’s easy top 10 pg. But that’s straight up disrespectful to Curry.
Yep. I think you can put Magic, Oscar and Isiah in front of Curry and still have credibility - Maybe you could squeeze in West (if you count him as a point), or even someone like Stockton if you're looking a pure point guards. But even though I love Kidd, I just don't see in what universe he goes not only ahead of Curry, but ahead of Stockton as well... I think he just wanted to put an emphasis on rings because CP3 has none, so he made it a point to put in 5 PG's with rings - Which in this case excluded guys like Stockton or Nash. Although I'm unsure why someone like Payton didn't get a mention... As far as putting Kidd over Curry? I think that's just to be controversial. I mean you wanna say how Curry only has 1 championship by himself? Fine. But it's not like Kidd was the FMVP either... and x2 MVP's (with 1 unanimous) surely surpasses Kidd right? You could make an argument about defense, but in that case... again... What about someone like Gary?
Bob Cousey had a career fg% of .375. That's not 3 point percentage. He played before the 3 point shot. That's his career field goal percentage. He never had a single season in his career where he shot 40%.
Mad Dog's list is very solid to be honest.. Cp3 is top 10 definitely of all time but I cannot put him ahead of mad dog's top 5 but I'll have Curry ahead of Kidd
Even though Stockton is the all time leader in assists and steals, nobody places him in the top 5 all time PG list, because he played in the NBA so many years. The same people place Lebron over Jordan for passing Jordan in points. Inconsistent.
