Bubba's carachter was a psycho variant of max (oposite). The toecutter was also the oposite but on another Level. Max short / toecutter Tall Max' uniforme clean / toecutter look dirty Max Drive a car /toecutter ride bike . Bubba's as the same leathercoat as max , short Guy, short haircut and shave like max opposite to the toecutter (long hair 2weeks Beard) They're also a rumor that when writing the script Bubba and the toecutter where suppose to be ex MFP's Who went rogue. Like Jim Goose was supposed to be lord humumgus in mm2
What people forget about this scene is the tremendous amount of will power and determination it takes for Max to get back in the Interceptor and operate a racing clutch with blown knee cap.
Ppl talk about the mustang vs charger in bullet, and it's a good chase but there's something visareal in these mad max chases that no other movie can touch
@@jonathancox1231 Exactly!!! No one could make even nearly as good and visceral speed chases, like some first film movie enthusiasts, 43 YEARS AGO, without money!!!
the funny thing is that they didn't realize wtf was going on until it was too late; they thought The Goose had been the one who killed the Knightrider and that Max's wife was just some random chick
I love how the sequels are so vastly different from the original...I know it was due to the small budget, but this world feels so familiar to us. The later ones are pure post-apocalyptica!!! And that Miller did this AND Fury Road is incredible.
I think the movies that followed this one missed the point and lost their identity. This movie is so distinctively Australian while the rest are just so American in style that its kind of sad.
True story - the truck owner didn't want his truck damaged, so the front of his truck was removed and had a thin metal facade installed. If you watch closely you can see details like the headlights are painted on.
Thanks for the info. Now that you mention it, at 4:03, you see the facade fall off as Toecutter and his bike slam into it. Edit - You'll have to pause and go by frame.
And thus came the end of disillusioned vietnam veteran Toad a.k.a Toecutter and his biker journey from suburbia to the sticks where his madness was passed on to the next generation i.e Max.
@@stanlyqbrick1621 I live in the Macedon Ranges, near we’re they filmed a few of the scenes (Creswick and Bulla. We did a pilgrimage to all the Mad Max filming locations over a few weekends. Wonderful movie, great acting!
@@madalene7724 that's great. i shot rabbit, fox and quail when i was young in the exact same fields with the you yangs in the background of little river. Mel getting shot in the knee by Bubba is the exact location. My father was good friends with the land owner there. I never new about the filming there until i watched mad max one and went hold on i know some of these locations.
That’s what I’ve been trying to tell some people!!! Those bikes with mufflers gutted sound like beast!!!! We had a neighbor had a 900 Kawasaki’!! I wished I bought it off of him!brownish/yellow colored ! I have a buddy with a Hybusa (2004!?) 1300 ! I’ve ridden it a few times! I got scared of car drivers & quit riding motorcycles around early 90’s!? People don’t be looking for bikers like they ought to! Y’all be careful when you drive!
I'll have to get the box set now and watch them all again. Went to see it with all my bikers mates as soon as it hit the cinema. After the film finished I even scored THE HUGE ADVERTISING POSTER outside!!!! I still have it!!
My two most treasured dvds, mad max 1 and of course 2. I have they others as well , but these2 top shelf. Im now an old boy, 67 and still ride my motor cycle. Happy days.
Kwaka 1000 bulletproof and leaves competitors in the dust. Just take a look at the the windshield part of the faring of Hughs bike and see how the wind is bending it due to the high speed they are doing. Incredibly brave filmmaker
I've always found Toecutter's facaial expression fascinating at the point max gets up. There's so much written there, is it respect? resignation? disbelief? or a mixture of several things
I like the continuity in these movies. In this film you see Max get shot in the leg and in Road Warrior he's got a leg brace. In Road Warrior you see him get his face smashed from the truck crashing and he's still got some visible bruising in Beyond Thunderdome. Although some of them seem to have healed up in Fury Road, I think he still had his brace.
@@Wailwulf But if you look closely in Fury Road there are three rips on the upper left of the jacket that were sewn up and repaired that was caused when he was attacked in the Road Warrior. So I would figure Fury Road happens between The Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome.
Filmed down at little river outside Melbourne Australia. The you yang's in the background. I used to go rabbit, fox and Quall hunting all over that background when i was a teenager.
@@stijnvandamme76 look, I am a great fan of the series, especially the 1st one that set the scene. But...having a plane flying I think is an element that just escaped the shooting. No need to give me any excuse or point the finger...it's a post apocalyptic film. There was no nuclears exchange given neither in 1, nor 2, nor 3. MM1 comes after the devastation effects. MM3 shows a plane crash that's been long long time there in the desert.
He probably just threw his leg on the clutch, slammed it into first, hits the gas and then removes the bad leg with his hands, trust me, i know how it is to drive with busted leg
George Miller the director was a doctor. He went back to working in an ER on weekends when the movie's funds were getting low. Max's unusual surname "Rokitansky" is actually a homage to the Rokitansky procedure, a coronial method of removing all of cadaver's organs in one block.
There is something to say about the stark nature of the mad max universe that just moments after Bubba is struck down birds come to pick carrion off his carcass.
That leather outfit is killer! You cannot pick apart this movie or you lose the story. I had a 1979 Kawasaki GPZ1100 and my top speed on it was 170mph. Even with a blower that interceptor would have never caught me in any sense of the imagination. Its top speed would have been around 140mph if it was lucky.
One thing I always found odd about the film when I first saw it! Was how the main boss wasn’t the last guy Max faced :) plus he was just taken out on the road which was unusual for movies! no last words etc. Just go take him out, second before last :) I like how the film doesn’t follow the standard blueprint. Max doesn’t get to ride off into the sunset, a happy man once he has taken care of the gang
@@karenseery5064 I still love the film, if someone watches this for the first time! it will throw them in some areas like it did me as a teen :) the director creates a gritty! realistic type world where things happen when they happen! in no usual order! Max takes out the leader when the chance comes along! no hellos or good byes! just straight in for the kill! Johnny did however start all the tension from the start! and his character is the most annoying in a good way! he brought danger to everyone!!
SO, So GREAT MOVIE !!! I WAS VERY YOUNG WHEN I WATCHED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME, AROUND 9 YEARS OLD ( I WILL BE 49 YEARS OLD ON JANUARY 21 (2021)) BUT I HAD LOVED EVERYTHING IN MAD MAX 1 & 2 ( THE 3 WAS NOT AS GOOD AND FURY ROAD WITHOUT MEL GIBSON ( Too expensive actor Now, I Guess ). But this scene from the First IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITES !!! THANKS !!!
The z1000 in reality only 72 HP..the interceptor was supercharged..and in theory faster he goes more air forces into supercharger..creating more power..so yes on a flat straight away..very easily outrun toecutter
