my name...is Paul...and today, we're breaking down Mad Max Fury Road.
• Mad Max: Fury Road \ T...
The George Miller classic brought back his icon while also introducing us to Furiosa. The movie is a road trip on steroids with lots of hidden details and things you might have missed. Throughout this breakdown we'll be going through the easter eggs and also the Making of trivia from the movie.
So strap yourself in, put the pedal to the medal and come with us off road for a tale of Chrome and Punishment. Oh what a lovely day and If you enjoy it, then smash the thumbs up. Make sure you subscribe to Witness me every week and with that out the way lets get into Mad Max Fury Road.
1:32 just before the stomp and then cut after it
Now in order to to talk about the movie we have to go back...way back...back into time. That takes us to the year before I was born which, showing my age here 1987. George Miller wanted to create a movie that was one none stop chase but it took 11 years to storyboard the concept. In 1998 they started drawing comic panels with him working with five artists.
Over the space of a year they made 3500 images with this storyboard unit being viewable online...or like...right in the video on screen now. Possessing very little dialogue this would be an action driven movie in which you could know the story without knowing English.

I am American and I have NEVER heard anyone say "Mac-donalds". If anything, that might be more Australian because of "Macca's". I say "Mick-donalds" and only ever hear that...or "Mickey D's".

After my first child was born, my wife let me take a day to see a movie alone. I had 2 options, see the first Avengers movie or Mad Max… to this day, Fury Road is one of the best cinema experiences I’ve ever had 🤯

I just so happened to rewatch this movie 3 days ago on a flight from Bangkok to the Philippines and the “siren” was most definitely wearing clothing in it. In fact it really perplexed me as to how a woman in distress was supposed to entice murderous rapist wasteland men but now knowing that she’s supposed to be nude makes it make a lot more sense.

I see the end scene with max backing away as he's looking up as furiosa rising up as max fading away into history after giving his approval (him nodding) to furiousa as she rises to the position of new lead character taking over for mad max. So they could do more movies with furiosa as the main character and not needing to have max anymore.

Grew up watching all the mad max’s an never thought I’d get to see a new one. And was absolutely blown away by fury road at the cinema. Went to see it multiple times and every time that engine roars as the title screen kicks in I got goosebumps. Masterpiece of a movie

Max pulled the correct trigger on the sawed off shotgun, when ge picks it up he opens to check which round Nux had fired during the chase, and you can see that the round in the right barrel has a primer that had been struck

People eater didn’t have elephantitis, it was probably swelling like pitting edema. I went on a med to help after I had it happen to me. My foot swelled up like crazy. Can be poor circulation or other stuff I guess. I would imagine eating people would screw up your system so it probably makes sense

It was a great video, it was almost as suspenseful and cliff-hanging as the move. Just gotta suggest as a thought, that the Cannibal might have gout or some other disease as eating humans and most humans during this time being mutants might give you such diseases that swelling of the joints would be a thing.

1:33 Omg Sigourney Weaver as Furiosa?! Charlise did phenomenal, but Sigourney Weaver would have been awesome to see. It's much like Joaquim de Almeida as "Bucho" in Desperado once you find out the part was originally written for Raul Julia. He did fantastic, but you can't help but wish you were watching Raul in the role. Now everytime I watch Alien 3 I'll imagine her as Furisoa lol

nah you were right the first time about doof. when edm was getting popular it was often derided by reducing it to just the thumping 'doof doof doof' bass. it became a alternate name for the genre, as well as the rhyming name for (often illicit) forest raves called 'bush doofs'. doof rhymes with woof.

Doof Doof is an Australianism used to refer to cars playing music so loud that you hear the beat of the music long before you see the car, and it's a vehicle full of speakers and playing loud music.... So I am not at all convinced that Doof wagon/warrior has anything at all to do with a reference to death in another language. I'm going to need this piece of trivia confirmed by George Miller himself before I believe it.

SPROG is and Australian colloquialism for CHILD ... "To be pregnant" is said "To be having a Sprog" ... The kid in the original film always had a name, the vocalised "Sprog" was a term of endearment similar to saying "Our child"... and you meant Ovum when you said ovary.

54:26 It’s interesting how Paul heard Furiosa say “Remember Me” as a statement, when I interpreted it as a question like we’ve seen in revenge scenes many times before. And ya know what… I like it better as a statement. It recontextualizes the entire scene in a great way. As if she’s telling him to remember her in his afterlife “Valhalla”. Plus it just makes more sense cuz obviously yeah he remembers her.

"Ford 500 R5 badge..." Actually it's RS, but that's neither here nor there, since the RS badge is European. This being Australia, 500 is most likely from a Falcon 500, which was the base-model Ford Falcon with the longest options list. It probably symbolises that Immortan Joe is actually nothing special.

I keep hearing "Hardy didn't get it", but also that EVERYTHING was story-boarded before the first shot. Did they hide the storyboards from him?

What he didn't get was how it was shot. Miller would take hours to set up a shot then do a single take of mere seconds. Hardy couldn't get into the character at that pace and lost focus. It went on for months and he never knew where he was in the story was.

Other than the basics of the movie, everyone I really talk to about the movie has something different that they take away. My wife loves how strong the women in the movie are, one of my friends loves Nux's redemption arc. Great movie.
