Awesome watch! Awesome video! Just ordered the M.A.D.1 RED edition! i like that they went with a traditional crown and a thinner bezel on the RED,,. both look awesome.
The difference between this watch and other 2000$ watches is that here, Max could clearly afford to lose money or barely break even since its main purpose wasn't commercial. Meanwhile, "normal" 2000$ watches need to make a profit, hence the lack of engineering novelties/risk taking in that price range. Although some brands like Damasko do put a lot more of engineering effort into accessible watches than most brands
The $2K price tag is a 'thank you' price to friends & family, with no middleman, marketing, no one else to pay and no profit! Rolex ADs are making on average 37% on the pieces they sell. If this piece went through the regular retail process, the RRP most likely would be closer to $6K, and you have a limited edition run of 450 which makes it very desirable. The miyota movement has been re-worked so much it is essentially an in-house movement. Realistically, this is going for only about 3.5X RRP, which is more reasonable than 10X.
I absolutely adored this watch since it came out. I think it’s the first really interesting product for normal people if it were to launch to a broader market. I love seeing high end independent stuff but I’ve become kinda numb to them knowing I’ll never be an oligarch, but this had my heart racing again hoping that there’s a possibility Max will release it or a version of it for everyone to buy
Xeric did something familiar to this much before the MAD1, using a similar miyota base. Not as nice made but $500 for something similar effect wise. I couldn't really ever get behind this product or the concept of it, especially because it was obvious the limited nature of it would drive the value sky high
@@Asovo I mean they're not built to the same quality ofc, but the concept of having the rotor dial side up and the main view point of the piece is the same
You know what sucks? People like me can afford a 2k watch if I save a little. But 20k? So MB&F makes a 2 thousand dollar watch, but makes it so hard to find, that its now worth 10 times its normal price. I would crime for a M.A.D.1. But I doubt Ill ever even come across one...
