Among its stone forests, spiny groves and lush jungles, on the mystical island of Madagascar live over 100 species of endemic Lemurs. In isolation for over 88 million years these ancient primates have adapted into the remarkable creatures they are today. Amongst the Aye Aye with its extended twig-like hunting finger; the side stepping, leaping Sifakas and the Ring Tailed Lemurs with their own personal form of communication, live examples of the species that are as high as your shoulder or small enough to hold in the palm of your hand.
A wonder of adaptation, these are the only primates to have blue eyes; able to ingest the toxic poison of the millipede or the cyanide of the bamboo plant, with impunity or live solely above water. A charismatic species still adapting and surviving in today’s changing world, Madagascar’s Legendary Lemurs celebrates this intriguing ensemble of characters as they go about their daily lives.
