3rd place? Like, are you guys for real? This was Eurovision winning material... I still can't believe that, while almost every other country is sending a song in a national language, Latvia preferred to send something so anonymous and leave such a heartfelt and genuine gem in the national final.
Many of the people I know have told me they think Latvian sounds awful from the perspective of foreigners. I don't agree with that, but there are many people who genuinely think so. And that's sad.
@Nauris Lukševics That's extremely sad! Actually I think I had never heard a song in Latvian before and I was absolutely fascinated by the way it sounds in this song. It would have been a good chance to make it known to more people that could have appreciated just as much as we did...that is, if the fact that they would have been sending a masterpiece wasn't enough of an encouragement...
But anyway can we just take a moment to appreciate how she had said that when she sang in the semi her voice was shaking and that she would be braver in the final and her singing actually got 10 times better?
She was the potential winner of the entire ESC... Seriously what happened Latvia?!!? You've just lost your chance of winning... Madara you were the best !!! sorry that the people who voted couldn't see it....

Such a shame this didn’t get the vote. Beautiful and would have been an original entry for Eurovision. It was my favourite of any song I’ve heard this year so far
I am latvian who voted for this masterpiece like 50 times and comments about how deaf our nation is make me feel kinda sad. I hope that I am not the only one who voted for her as hard as I could. Maybe she's not the winner, but I'm proud of being one of many or not so much people rooting hard for this act.
I'm upset, because we had a chance to send a beautiful song that happens to be in our language (which is rare nowadays)! It's clear that this song is not written with the intention to win the contest, it's a genuine song from the artist's heart, which I really appreciate and who knows when will the next such artist appear in Supernova... Well, a lot of people take into account the song's potential to win the Eurovision, I don't and wouldn't even mind it not passing the semi-final, having Madara represent our country would've already been amazing.
My feelings exactly. I'd rather have a song that would make me be proud to be Latvian, as opposed to a typical English love song. How well we do, wouldn't even matter in that case. But judging from most foreign outlets, Madara seems to have been favoured outside of Latvia, so we might have actually done far better with Madaras Esabmība. I guess we will never know now.
I'm French so I don't understand what Madara sings and yet she was my favorite of the entire ESC, I was ready to support her. She's an amazing artist, the song is beautiful... I thought she had the potential to win the ESC... I'm so disapointed. I don't understand :(
Frankly, I think Madara's chances in ESC would be considerably bigger than Laura's. The song is haunting and stands out, and especially the juries should appreciate it. However, to represent one's culture and actual artistry is far more important than the outcome in some contest. I personally would vote for her in a heartbeat.
As a non-Latvian, I can telll you that Madara would have been my personal winner this year, and I would have supported her all the way. What I really don't understand is, why this fear of singing in your language? Almost everyone will do it this year! Who cares if we don't understand the lyrics? This song was pure magic, and we people who were rooting for Madara didn't need to understand what she was saying to fall in love with Esamība. Why prefer something so usual and anonymous? The only thing that relieves me a bit is the hope that Madara may come back with another masterpiece sooner or later
Wow Madara! Superb performance. What I admire about you the most is that you take the feedback seriously and improve every performance by miles. This performance stuns, surprises and touches. While I could see a bit of stress in the semi-performance, the final performance was extrmeley confident and professionally performed. How exciting! This was a powerful Supernova final. I want to see you submitting a song for 2019 Supernova. You've got it what it takes.
Man, Just when I got the euphoria of finding out AWS won A Dal in Hungary, this happens. And I thought Malta screwed up by not picking "Song for Dad". Latvia is in trouble. But I'm soooo glad I found Madara. :)

I like "Funny Girl" but it's nowehere near "Esamiba". Latvia lost chance for victory clearly. Especially now when Europe is crying for more of this kind of music.

Funny Girl is the national final song I have played the most since January, put Esamiba was pretty magical and could have done very well at ESC. It could have placed top five.

šoreiz man ļoti patika bekvokāls, man pat šķiet, ka bekvokāla piesaistīšana padarīja šo dziesmu emocionālāku, izjustāku. tikai ļoti žēl, ka tauta nenobalsoja pietiekami par šo dziesmu, ja Madara tiktu uz Eirovīziju, tad šī dziesma no pārējām atšķirtos un tiktu uz finālu, bet ko izvēlējās tauta? aizsūtīt basic dziesmu, kas ne ar ko neizcelsies uz citu dziesmu fona. skumji.
Just when I started believing in Latvians intelligence, they turn this masterpiece down. Like, do they even realize how good and magical this song is? Do they even assimilate the chance at winning they missed? Nothing against Laura but that song won't get anywhere close to the top 10 in May. Latvians, you will never have another chance like this, you deserve your awful Eurovision record.
^It's not true the live wasn't good, in the final she was awesome. And plus, no one here said that it was a good song because of the cello. It was the whole song/voice/music/atmosphere combination that made it good.

Well justice was served, Latvia went for the safe option and Europe made sure to let them know that what they chose was crap....bye. I hope Madara will come back next year.

Wow, Latvians really like to send people from BRICS countries. First Eurovision song without any drums or beat. They were replaced by the Latvian language.
