This made me sad in the manga, but it reaches a whole new level in the anime, hearing mitty repeat her name before dying and nanachi completely heartbroken was too difficult to watch, holy shit I cried a lot.
I think this is one of the very rare instances where the anime might surpass the Anime, due to great animation, great voice acting, but above all, fantastic music. I still can't believe the music is. And that's not to bash the Manga, it has its own appeal, and it sets the groundwork for this piece of art.
@@robertt8822 its really about taste. I usually prefer the animated version simply because of the music / sound design. You can have your preferences, but audio is a large part of the experience.
Seriously. My fiance and I were watching and we cried so hard. Episode 13 was too much for my kokoro. Poor fucking Mitty. Whoever made this manga is so fucked lol.
These events hardly affected me reading the manga, but when I saw it in the anime it made me cry. Makes me wonder how amazing it will be when the parts that touched me more in the manga are finally adapted into anime. Season 2 can't come soon enough.
No matter how many animes I watched before up till now, this one holds special place in my heart. I ended up getting to attached to a character that didn't even have dialogue again just to see her taken away -internally cries again
Reg bawling his eyes out at his pale and dying Riko, and the indescribable sobfest that was Mitty's death. What utterly soul crushing moments, both perfectly underlined by just one song. And it gets worse - only the first half of the song is used for the former event, shown both at the end of episode 10 and at the start of episode 11, making sure you've memorized it's tear jerking bitterness. So when it starts playing in episode 13 once more, you're already being subconsciously reminded of that moment. AND THEN, after Mitty has finally been put to rest, Kevin Penkin hits you with the second half of the song as Nanachi begins weeping, driving a stake right through your aching heart. They knew exactly what they were doing.
“you will always be my treasure.” And the anime will always be in our hearts, never forgotten. Crunchy roll made a good choice of having Made in Abyss win 2017 anime awards. Praise that Boku No Hero Academia didn’t win, no offence..

Wrote some lyrics to the song: [Starting from 0:00 following the piano] I should tell goodbye, Here in our pathway. But no words I speak, 'Cause hard it's to say. (x2) [Instrumental] [Following the violins starting at 1:27] We fallen in the Abyss, To start a new life. Now curses we see, There, where we live, Deceived by lies. My beloved sister, I say you goodbye. 'Cause I can't succeed, So I begged a friend, Now you'll be free.
This anime... it has phases or layers, so to speak. At first it is like this adorable, light hearted adventure, but always with some ominous feeling creeping at your back. Somewhere in the middle, it gets much more ominous, but still adventurous enough, with positive outlook. Episode 10 hits. Orbie appears. You are like "Oh no." Few moments after you are like "OH NO NO NO" A few moment later: "Jesus Christ, NO NO NO NO." Episodes 11 and 12 hit you with mixture of hopefulness and sorrow, but nothing as intense. And there is 13... It hits you like a brick to the face. Repeatedly. And just when you think it can't get any worse... Reg agrees and this scene plays out. This was one of the very few moments in games, movies or series' when I audibly sobbed. This is a masterpiece.
watching the end of season one in one sitting is like a 1-2 punch with riko then mitty. watching the third movie immediately after was a falcon kick to the groin and a hot iron stake through the soul with prushka.
I dedicate this OST to our friendly neighborhood weeb penguin Grape-kun, who passed away 12 October 2017. RIP you innocent soul, may Hululu be together forever with you in the afterlife. FFFFFFFF FF FFFFFFF FF FF FF
