This is so disturbing. Seeing a little girl being transformed beyond recognition and pleading for death as she descended into pain and agony is the stuff of nightmares
When watching it as a cartoon it can make you sick... Actually experiencing it though...I think I'd genuinely kill myself...I couldn't mentally handle that I think.
I will look like an asshole, but this scene is actually the first one I've seen from this anime and then I thought "That looks cool, let's watch it". Moreover, there was an elevator music in the background in the video I've seen.
Watching a human being forced to completely lose their humanity and turn into a helpless, pitiful creature is extremely disturbing. This scene is beyond disturbing... the last time I felt this way was during the infamous chimera scene in FMAB.
Yeah this made me feel really bad for both Mitty and Nanachi it was really sad to see Mitty trying to stay positive saying she would endure the pain only for her to beg Nanachi to kill her it's really sad and messed up at the same time I feel really bad for the both of them
This is how you do horror. You make me want to vomit and cry. None of that jumpscare shit, just hit my heartstrings and my gag reflex at the same time.
"oh this looks like just another cute chibi adventurers anime and... Oh wait guess who's there? It's uncle Despair, and he brought aunt Depression and cousin Misery, the whole family is here!!
I have a theory about why it works like this, the blessing of the abyss is the transformation into something non human as a way to keep humans from dying, but the curse itself it death/combined with all the previous effects of the abyss, as a result the human body breaks down from the curse, while at the same time it transforms into something non human ending up with the abominations we see above. And because of how much mitty cared for nanachi, the blessing made her immortal, unable to die by normal means. If it weren't for the blessing though, humans would just turn into piles of flesh, not transformed, but basically liquified by the effect.
Inora Faolan I know. Poor girl, she didn't deserve this at all. It's like Riko herself has been mutated and tortured since Mitty also wanted to be a white whistle and she was sweet and pure of heart 😢
showing emotional response to pictures especially pictures of brutality and torture has nothing to do with being a weeb or not , its just a sign of empathy and an open heart , its one of the things that are most needed on this planet as the suffering created here everyday is outstanding, and having to cry when observing suffering whether real or not is a good sign that you are connected to your emotions and ur heart , which are the base of being a human being ♡
The sad thing about it was that before the ascending, Mitty was trying to be optimistic, assuring Nanachi that it's going to be alright and that she will endure it. So to see the opposite happening and her tearfully begging Nanachi to end her life as she was falling apart was Horrifiying...
@Adam Lot Mitty was assuring she is going to stay alive so that none of the curse would fall back onto nanachi, which she did accomplish. Not that she was going to be "alright". So no, it isn't that she was saying opposite things.
Nah. MIA would probs say "hold my flask" but you got close enough. Lord knows I needed a slug of the hard stuff [whiskey] to forget this scene... Now for another one
Made in Abyss could be one of the most beautiful and enchanting manga ever written. But Akihito Tsukushi wanted to tell a story of endless misery, pain and suffering instead, so he went nuts with it.
I'm not saddened by this as much as I'm disturbed. Just the idea of a human mutating into that is pretty horrific. But the masses of them in the darkness under the elevator... Most - if not all - were probably orphaned kids. "Living" eternally, miserable, unable to communicate, possibly in a ridiculous amount of pain. That truly is the worst torture.
kalekiedziewczyny the last few frames of the anime shows that the signature of mitty was not lit up (because she died) but other lights were still on meaning that most of them were still alive
@@DemonSlayingFootball5208 I read the wiki and now I'm sorta hoping there'll be more. 7 is confirmed but it isn't confirmed if that's the only amount there is.
I think we're witnessing at 2:49 the deformation of Mitty's consciousness, the way her eyes turn (being usually related to the "windows of the soul") made me think of the final and ultimate loss of humanity: the corruption of the inner self.
This is one of the most horrific things I've seen in fiction. Just... God, Nanachi was right there and completely helpless to stop it. It was almost too much to watch a second time. The first time, my stomach went up to my throat. Ozen wasn't kidding when she said she was the nice one.
I never understood these "anime isn't for kids" comments. It's as if anime for varying age groups don't exist. There are anime for kids, and there are ones that aren't, simple as that lol
I've never been into animes that have suffering little kids. Let alone being abused by their parents, even worse being subjects of experiments. It's so brutal and sad.
Well, you must despise Made in Abyss then. That said, I doubt any people here think otherwise about it being brutal and sad. But conflict and suffering is what drives any story.
*gets to episode 12* Well, I have to admit this anime is pretty dark, but all around nothing too scary happened like in Madoka... *gets to this scene* Wait wha- NO STOP
The experiment is basically testing the possibility of transferring the curse from A to B while ascending. Minimalized the curse from subject A while observing subject B’s changes from overcursed.
I think this is the saddest scene i saw. It's terrible. I think the loss of one's humanity is one of the scariest things. It's creepy. It is sad that Mitty can not die and suffers every time. His soul would have been trapped in that horrible body forever, had it not been for Reg.
Normally I would overlook comments like this as cringy or overdramatic, but in this one case I actually agree with you. I shouldn't have watched this. It's... Horrible. And not because it was a cheap scare or Gorey or anything like that. It's because it's so well done, and the genuinity of it. A small part of me actually has died. I don't want to watch the anime anymore, because I know I'll be too depressed to make it all the way through. This may be a fantasy anime, but it has its roots in reality. Nazi science experiments on Jews were a real thing, throwing people in water to build a better life jacket (and letting them drown). Performing horrific experiments on identical twins, usually children, to see how different drugs affects a person differently. Same thing with the Japanese biological experiments of ww2, which used inhuman experiments to advance our understanding of disease and genetics by decades at the cost of destroying our fellow man so utterly. These had all just been stories in textbooks for me. This anime, even if it fantasy, let me put a face to the victims. It's wonderfully well done, but I don't feel entertained watching it. I just feel sick.
Right about everything except sadism. Bondrewd is just so mental that he sees nothing he’s done as wrong. If anything he sees himself as a benevolent scientist.
@@-Noistering- his perception of morality is warped. He isnt bad person, he just doesnt have value like good or evil. If he is pure evil he wont save prushka in the first place. If you live in abyss for as long as him i doubt you have good moral.
I know he’s a very interesting character as he isn’t an evil person and genuinely loves prushka but his actions to advance and break the curse means that he has to do horrible things
fma is transformation was way better compared to this atleast she became something similar to a dog but this one.. damn and the fact that she stays like this forever and the other girl is tortured right after that
Welp, Nina just got transformed into a Dog thing; Mitty got transformed into an amorfous blob while suffering everlasting excruciating pain and missery until the end of her days.
Anime like higurashi are definitely hard to watch during some of the gory scenes but this scene filled me with such dread and pure horror the first time. Incredibly done but also holy shit.
The part that got me was when mitty said "please" and turned in to that blob thing. Like it's too late, and nanachi had to witness her best friend suffering while feeling powerless to do anything
The thing that make it worst is that you get to ceep in mind that everything apening in this scene is apenning to two small childs, little kids that where best friends, and since Made In Abyss art style look like a kind of chibi art style it make it worst...
I don't understand why all the people are like "WTF? this was so cute and it turned out to be so disturbing" when the show clearly hinted the dark tone since earlier episodes. I won't deny this part was very disturbing, but we can't act like THIS is where the show got dark or like up until this point this was a magic journey full of flowers and rainbows.
the story is dark in episode 3 when we understand that Riko is leaving for a suicide mission and that Nut can not hold her back And turn it last pages of the first volume that corresponds to the last scene of episode three.... Riko was certainly the most important person for Nut, we learn that he is an orphan and that he lost his sister .... He could not accompany Riko because she told him to accomplish are dream of building an orphan in poor neighborhoods. And the very last page breaks my heart, imagine that the last thing you remember about the person you love is this person who descends into the darkness, knowing that never again will you see her or ever again will hear his voice ....
Well, I thought it was gonna be one of those animes that tries too hard to be dark, and ends up far away from their goal. So episodes 10 and 13 got me by surprise, more graphical and darker than I expected... I also admit that the cute animations deceived me.
Gokunese God people can be sick. You think she deserves to be melted as her flesh and bone turned into mush, she bled from every hole, hallucinated, felt intense pain throughout her body and nausea, as well losing her humanity while scared shitless, and then her soul being intrapped in this body constantly suffering, while also being tortured and killed over and over, after which Nanachi hurt her some more to try to end her suffering only to be finally be freed after getting blasted by an erasing ray... because her voice was annoying? Are you healthy? Do you plan on shooting up a school sometime? You play with your moms corpse every evening or something? Just your line of thought is already sickening. Holy hell.
Wait, so i got it right that the dude that was talking to those 2 people has the same voice actor as Yoshikage Kira? And also, how the hence did i got to this when some videos about Meduka Meguca popped up in my recommends?
Primm Honestly, I don’t really care about spoilers. This is my way of finding animes. I mean, thats how I found Puella Magi and Kimetsu no Yaiba. Oh and Saga of Tanya the Evil. Besides, I’m binging the full episodes right now, so it’s all good.
First time this scene happened, I thought it would go the usual route of not showing the transformation. Only the before and after. *Boy, was I wrong...*
I so would've preferred the story to be kept adventurous and fantasy focussed, like finding Riko's mother, or maybe finding a city or a cool world down there, or discovering the fascinating historic origins of the abyss. Not really a fan of how the anime suddenly threw in this violent experimentation concept, it almost changes the genre. How did they even build a lab down there? I felt excited and curious and was full of wonderment at the start of the anime, now I'm sad and angry. I'm not against there being an antagonist, but I don't think this particular idea is very compatible with the abyss and its greater meaning. Hopefully the creators overturn this plot trap and return the story to adventuring and learning about the mysteries of the abyss again.
This was actually the first clip of made in abyss I ever saw... other than that, I had only heard of the series through non-spoiler pics and people mentioning it. Needless go say, I was terrified and confused, and I ended up just watching the show to understand. First time I saw this, I was shooked and sympathetic. But after watching up until this point, I actually cried.
the art style of made in abyss is so beautiful and bright, which makes up for the dark story. This is one of the moments when I realized how wrong I was about a character. Definitely my favorite anime
Just watched made in abyss for the first time and holy hell am I glad yt didn't spoil it for me before then. Also despite the cruel situation she was forced to endure during and shortly after her transformation, I'd say mitty got off fairly well compared to the other orphans. After all eventually she was rescued and comforted by her best friend, meanwhile all those other children were and probably still are alone, suffering silently in the darkness of the 6th layer... not to mention she did ultimately get her final wish in the end (I cried like a baby)
Even though she's forced to bear the curse for the both of them... Even though she's JUST seen what she's about to become, and will in the most agonizing way possible... Mitty still focuses on comforting Nanachi. There are NO WORDS to describe that kind of selflessness and caring.
I've never seen something as soo fucked up in my life i think this scene on its own goes to the top of the most sad and heart breaking things ive seen and right below it is Akame Ga Kill
Alfred Lancaster mitty and her friends find the way to be happy, but oh no! Mitty became a hamburger and her friend be came a dog *WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT, FIND OUT NEXT TIME IN MADE IN THE DARK AREA*
I was really touched .... two friends who were made guinea pigs, but one friend who was willing to accept something that was very risky for him for the sake of his best friend. So... Whoever we are, whatever our form, remains a best friend forever even though we are different from the others ... whatever the situation is despite joy and sorrow, we must live together. if there is a friend of ours who like Mitty means he is the best friend who dares to take heavy risks for the sake of his own best friend. But because I don't know the whole story how the two of them could become guinea pigs, but I was deeply moved at this part #Accrdvice
Im pretty sure the concept of the sixth layer's curse is derived from blobfish since they look like regular fish under high pressure, but once you drag them up extremely fast, they'll decompress and be all blobby.
