When you say 'The Older Villages' I assume you mean those enveloped by cities because there is no shortage of old villages in rural China. My wife comes from a village in northern Anhui and overtime we visit the locals come to stare at me because Lowai never go there. According to her family I was the first to visit the village and I realise that this is hard to believe in these times.
Okay, listen you people who are equating this place to slums in India - do you see ten thousand people living in this place as they do in those aweful indian slums? Do you see a lot of garbage piling up? Do you see brothels in these back alleys? No, right? Why? Because most of the residents had all moved to shiny high rise apartments. They are waiting for this area to be re-developed and get compensated. In the begining of this vlog, it is said that these so called urban villages are disappearing because of rapid development.
I think the old building at 3:48 on right hand side is Adobe with a Stucco Topcoat Finish. That kind of bldg material was used alot in Mexico and USA in the Southwest. They will last forever if they have a good roof and if not will simply vanish back into the ground. Thank you for sharing videos.
Just came across your channel and love it already. We are living in Beijing right now and will be here awhile. I am also hoping to find these increasingly harder to find villages. Well like you said, it's life, but I hope I can slow down and soak some of it in.
Thanks for watching. Yeah these older villages are slowly disappearing, but I really enjoy them when I can find one. I actually lived in one when I was a kid. They're really cool (except during Chinese New Year).
well thats why we call ourself a developing country, but keep it mind that places like this are developing so fast that it is changing day by day u can literally see the change happen with your eyes.
There are no slums in China. In fact, they all have houses in the city. Because the Chinese are very busy every day, the old people choose to live in the countryside while the young people work in the city
何志宏 Well that’s not entirely true. Some people choose to live in a classic older house that some people could call “slum” areas. I’ve tracked a lot around China and seen it with my own eyes!
It is okay to have slums because no country is free from poverty in this world. Why always the denial??? Is it is Han Mainlander 300 IQ trait to be in denial. Or is it because China is so perfect that we can have highrises in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xiamen, Xi'an, Wuhan, Qingdao, Nanjing, Tianjin, Zhangjiajie, Zhengzhou, Zhangzhou, Suzhou, but no "slums" at all, because we are perfect??
I don't know what's the purpose of this video.Maybe it's your way of shaming China?Whatever your purpose is, China is still a developing country with 1.3 bill people to take care of.I'm sure the Chinese government knows their own problem but it takes time to solve. It's really disgusted me to see a foreigner making video like this and put some disgusting comment like 'the worst bathroom in the world'.I'm sure I can make video like this about your country if I wanted to, even if your country has been labelled as developed country for 100 years.
Chin Eric --- Snarky was showing the parts of China that are not filled with glitter and big, fancy malls. There was no intent to degrade the wonderful country of China and its amazing and diverse people and living conditions. Here in America we have what we call slums. Parts of Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore, and many other cities are run down, look terribly old, and have graffiti everywhere. I am sure that Snarky would never want to insult you or China. He loves China and has made a decision to live and work there. Peace out!
Most of those "ancient" buildings you showed were built in the 1970s and 1980s. Not really ancient, but they look that way. Filthy makes stuff look old.
Distance between houses in streets is very less street width must at least four times as the present width. Also most of the buildings are breaking safety rule according to which the height of any building in town should not be more than ten feets .
This is as village as it gets; about 30km from the nearest town and perhaps 50km from the nearest McDonald’s…haha! But you’re right, there are a lot of these sprinkled around rural China.
But Snarky whether these dilapidated homes are occupied or not, was not discussed here. Some may have been expropriated by the government to make way for development, sometimes in collusion with real estate swindlers.
As an expat who lives in china for 9 years, I would suggest stop boozing around, learn the language and get a piece of daily newspaper dude. You have no idea about the location you talking about. ...
You can pick all the worst places to film in any countries not just China mate. Tell him to look himself in the mirror before saying how bad other people in China are!
this is not a surprise , In every country ( including developed ) there are places like this . I don't know what is special on it just compare the china in 1988 and now , how far it developed in 30 years . now going to be NO 1 in the world , growth rate is very high when compare with other countries including INDIA
AWESOME awesomeness snarky. thank you tons for these videos sir. my dream is to see all of that in person. i teach an ancient yamabushi Ninjutsu style of martial art and its rooted in china not japan. anywho your great ty
qhilliq you actually see that everywhere. Most of the time it's advertising for drivers licenses, moving companies, or occasionally "ladies of the evening". spoiler Alert: ladies of the evening will not help you move your sofa or pass your driver's test.
as previously posted - some are just ads for whatever, BUT the majority of the ones in this vid are for power companies showing the status of supply to the building. They paint on it the supply company, the contact plus when its paid till.
i am blessed to have a network of family and friends in mainland china and i love my home here, however a person on the wrong" side "would find china is a brutal country.
ONE MANS TASTE IS OTHER MANS POISON.PLEASE DO NOT MAKE FUN OF SOMEONES POOR CONDITION AND POOR STATE OF LIVING AND FOOD . ALWAYS TRY TO APPRECIATE RATHER THAN MAKING FUN AND MOCKING ON IT . BE THANKFUL TO GOD ALMIGHTY THAT YOU ARE BLESSED.
Felix Xavier Did you watch the video? No way was I making fun of it. I was actually saying it was cool and reminded me of my childhood in a similar village.
With China's strict internet access, if you were to ask a local about what happened at Tienanmen square, would they have any clue of what you're talking about?
southern china, rainy, hot ,harsh weather with wet high humidity destroy building structures, major repair of maintenance is a must every 5 years. otherwise that's what you see at 1:50 of this video. looks deteriorated.
Hey! That was Great and all that is old is sometimes gold. How much for the haircut and it is a much better look. I go to the Bank barbershop under the Union Bank and it's 9 Dollar's. I keep telling him to charge 10 dollars but you know how it goes. It's 85° hear in Saint Marys West Virginia and trying to say frosty .
Many of the villagers had moved on to the new towns and cities. most migrant workers only go home once a year. Sometimes children are left with grannies and see their parents once a year. Agree that these villages will slowly disappear.
@General YeahYeah village means agriculture land peasents. It's not village rather suburbs or undeveloped part of city.however it's more or less clean compared to others.
What about made in india?tell me something good made in india product which is better than chinish product. Chinish 100 dollar product is better than India 1000 dollar product.sorry for bad English
