Continuing my Made in Japan series, I'm visiting a brand-new whisky distillery, co-founded by Ian Chang. As a 2-time winner of the World's Best Whisky award from his portfolio at Kavalan, this new venture in Komoro Japan has massive amounts of attention from within the industry.
With production only starting last year, and a couple more years of maturation to come, this film is a dive into how whisky is made and the emotional connection behind the process. Shot entirely on anamorphic lenses from Sirui, I wanted to attempt something new and challenging with this mini-doc and I'm so happy with the results of everything!
The opportunity to make this film came about from some additional work the company I work with, was doing for Komoro in Japan. My idea for a Made in Japan episode was pitched to them and they loved the narrative I wanted to display. I'm hoping to get more opportunities like this in the future and continue the series further.
