Well.... I love it all, i'm taking a bath in all those early electronic/pop/new wave/romantic/synth music and i love it!! The only bad thing is that there's not much of us likeing this kind of world, pitty.
I knew Def Leppard were from Sheffield (and when my Dad and Mom and I were on a coach trip from London up to Edinburgh and back down .. I told our coach guide about Def Leppard and she didn’t know them in September 1988) but ABC, Human League, etc. were from there. I thought they were from Manchester!
You can also find "Being boiled" on the Human League's "Travelogue", although it's a slightly different version. That's the first place I heard it. It's a great song. Has anyone else ever covered it?

I'm a big fan of the cabs and prefer them to kraftwerk and the aweful Human league, but non of their material was officially released untill 1978, and Kraftwerk already had 4 albums by then, Caberet Voltaire followed in the slipstream of Throbbing Gristle
Psychosis Holochaust Battle rapper hip hop artist with Prison Planet Records hail from The Steel City. Also don't forget the legendary Niche nightclub in Sheffield the club that was the Godfather of the bassline dance movement. Et al Hacienda in Manchester spawned a thriving music scene. Niche did a lot for Dance Culture in the 90s/00s as well.

before Kraftwerk were Shaeffer then Stockhausen, after went the Human League or cabaret voltaire to bring that concept into dance... no techno no electro or whatever shit without them.

I believe you're referring to The Stunt Kites - in this documentary I think its' title is wrongly credited. A truly recommended listen.
I Think Relying on just guitars is boring, very limited, Narrow i might add. That´s why i don´t like grunge. It Depends on the style off course and according to my personal tastes in music, there are very few exceptions. King Crimson, for instance. Their sounds are quite unbelievable.
