The hike started in Estreito da Calheta, which is a municipality on the southwest coast of the Portuguese island of Madeira, and ended in Seixal, on the north side of the island. On the way up from Calheta there is tunnel that crosses the mountain and you reach the beautiful Laurissilva forest with all the mountains, Levadas and waterfalls.
The 25 Fontes waterfalls, in half the way, is one of the most impressive waterfall in the island. If you really want to feel this place you should definitely take a bath in the ice cold water.
I spent my night on the mountain, where the silence and the sky view was breathtaking. The next day I went on Fanal, which is located at the mountain plateau Paul da Serra in the north-west part of the island and then finally to Seixal.
Enjoy the hike!
