We have visited Madeira for 5 days in March 2017 and stayed in Funchal (the best location to stay in the island).
The weather was great for all activities so we did travel as much as possible. From the first sight we felt in love with the Island as the Island had so much to offer from Levadas walks and hiking to the beautiful botanical gardens and breathtaking views from the mountains. We will definitely coming back here soon.
