yesterday´s men and one better day are their greatest songs to me, just like the stranglers they developed creatively in an amazing way no one would have expected
If the drummer's right about some of the band wanting to go in for the synth sound of the mid eighties it would have been godawful. I like a bit of synth pop but it wouldn't have suited Madness at all. If he means they wanted to replace the rhythm section it does seem a bit...brutal. Maybe it was more of a personalites clash and they'd split into camps...
