this was so incredibly beautiful and monumental and your expressive playing perfectly showcased the Kaijura's gorgeous writing, especially Dream World and Flame of Despair. It's really been too long since I've watched Rebellion and now I'm totally in the mood to put it on tonight hahaha. Loved reading your description of how this all came together, it was so calming and wonderful to listen to you, as always!
Thank you so much!! Always happy to see you here :) and I'm happy I'm sharing the mood to watch Rebellion, I never have enough of that movie lol. Also fitting to put it on on the series anniversary!
I love Homura and her incredible love for Madoka. I love the Rebellion movie... and I _love_ your amazing piano cover of the music which I already adored. Thank you, Caliko.
@@killemwifkindness same with me. Also what this movie does as well as gone girl, where you have a handful of melodies that keep popping up throughout the movie but there are lighter versions of them and then inverted ones which are more ominous or dark
I can't overstate how impressive this is, especially how faithful this arrangement is to the original tracks while effortlessly converting the other instruments to piano and keeping the original feel. Your interpretation in playing flows so well and really does the soundtrack justice. Overall it just leaves me wanting more - in particular complete versions of something, everything is wrong and absolute configuration would be great to hear. I also join the others in eagerly awaiting the sheets. Thank you for sharing this!
Hello, this is a greeting from Japan. Thank you for a wonderful time! Your performance is amazing. I really felt the respect for the original. Seriously, I've been listening to the soundtrack almost every day since it was released (7 years ago?). I will continue to listen to maybe a lifetime... I'm waiting for your nice video again!
I been a Madoka Magica fan for a few years now but finally got around to seeing Rebellion for the first time this year and that movie and this soundtrack have been my favorite things to watch/listen to this year.
I just wanted to say thank you for making this, it is honestly perfect for studying, relaxing when I do illustrations, when I want to wind down for the night before bed, or to pick me up emotionally when I'm feeling down. I cannot tell you how many times I come back to this video, put it on loop and just have it on in the background when I need to get other things done. Madoka Magica means a lot to me and the music plays a big part in that. There is so much emotion in the way you play and it really comes across in each song throughout. I love this medley and appreciate the time and effort it took to create it! Thank you for all you do, it definitely does not go unnoticed :)
Sometimes Flame of despair reminds me a bit of fur elise haha. What a performance, as always with you, well done ! My personnal favorite is Theatre of a witch :D
Theatre of a witch is by far my favorite to play, it's so much fun! And I can see the similarities in flame of despair and fur elise, some overlapping notes there!
Hearing this is like watching the whole movie again, i can literally see the schene in my head just by it OST. Thank you so much for this incredible medley!
Well, this comes out of nowhere. What a great way to start in 2021 😉. Firstly, let me collect my thoughts. After watching (or more preciously listening while my both eyes were closed, it feels like I am wandering in this universe without any care, completely free from life form) I have no idea how 29 min feel too short. This Medley was exceptional. Really Really something special you created. Your hard work is remarkable and so much inspiring. Btw, I am reading your description right now, and Feels like the OST title of this movie telling me a very tragic story. After reading from top to bottom order. I don't know anything about this movie, even it's my first time hearing this movie name other than you also did an OST cover of this movie in the past. But thank you very much for your recommendation. I will definitely be going to watch this movie tomorrow. And look like it's 3 part movie which is always great in my book. And If my guessing is correct I need to prepare my heart and mind. Also Caliko after watching this video again with my eyes open, you look like Elsa from Frozen (maybe because of all black dress and beam of white light only projecting on specific area & your white hair, this looks like a really cool effect ha-ha). Lastly thank you for delivering an amazing performance. You are the best. Happy New year Caliko and everyone in the comment section. We finally survived 2020 ye ye ye 😏.
Thank you! It is a 3 part movie, the first 2 being movie adaptations of the original 12 episode series, so definitely watch those one after another! If you don't know anything about Madoka go in blind remembering it's not what it looks like on the surface - prepare for a feels trip! It's regarded as a classic for a reason
Fucking a, dude. I literally. Like, same. I mean, same with how you feel about the film and the soundtrack but like also, just thanks. Thank you for reheating the fire of my very soul. This movie is literally everything to me. Everything. And I feel like so many people just don’t get it. Really. The fact that it has haters is appalling to me…. And the fact that somebody can harbor so much love for it makes me so, so incredibly happy. That I’m not alone in the ferocity of my soul’s devotion to this one piece of art. Because I too…. feel it. Literally, the same. Like, every so often (twice a year? Maybe more honestly) I’m like, yeah… time to watch Rebellion again.
Oh, and of course I love Flame of Despair. Obvious classic, right? And you played it perfectly. I particularly ADORED your Holy Quintet as well as your Absolute Configuration…. BUT, I Was Waiting for this Moment, MIGHT just be my guiltiest of likes if only because it’s my very favorite scene.
@@waifusam4790 Yes! You get it. I'm so glad I'm reaching like-minded people with this, the last time I was in a sudden "I need to rewatch Rebellion" mood was literally yesterday. I will never get over how much I love this movie, such an incredible work of art. Thank you so much for the comment!
absolutely phenomenal job. felt like i was watching the movie for the first time again. im especially amazed at how well you translated absolute configuration, flames of despair, and theatre of a witch, all songs that i was not expecting to translate well in piano. can't wait to binge the rest of your stuff!
Take your hands 😢. I love it, but it's bitter sweet, just like decretum. Thank you so much for this medley, your performance of decretum is also one of my favorites.
This is beautiful. I aspire to play like you one day. I can’t stop listening to this, I didn’t think I could be more obsessed with Rebellion but here we are. Thank you so much.
thank you so much!! i was having a really shit day and a panic attack before you posted, this made me feel so much better! i fell in love with you after seeing you play decretum and never leave you alone. ive been waiting to hear more madoka magica ost from you, and im so happy you made this!! thank you, love you!
This is so good! It always makes me happy to see others appreciating rebellion 🥰 I completely agree that the movie just keeps getting better with every rewatch. The visuals, music, and story all work together to create something that is so unique and special.
it's absolutely amazing, I don't know which part is better, the absolutely gorgous sound of the piano or the fact that you seem to be absolutely consumed by playing. Anyway, 10/10, will listen on repeat!
No way you release a piano OST rebellion movie, i was looking and hoping for since a moment. thanks for the gift. Good job finally you done it ! Really huge amount of work ! Thanks thanks thanks. I know what i will hear every day for 2 3 week
INCREDIBLE, I find it insane that you were able to arrange and play 30 minutes of this goodness.. I am a huge fan of Madoka Magica and the OST, thank you for this~ Homura best girl
Wow I'm thrilled by the transcription. It is so well done O.O I was waiting for this moment hits the nail on the head. Overall your work keeps true to the music of Yuki Kajiura without leaving anything to be desired. The piano version sounds full and nothing is missing. Oh and also you play it amazingly, absolute respect for recoding it all in one take :) I will gladly listen through your other covers^^
I've been into madoka magica for a very long time and I have never seen a piano medley so beautifully strung together like this. Amazing work I can feel the expression even through my walmart earbuds .
As a person who really love madomagi's ost, the piano version you played is AMAZING! I really love it, thank you for creating this beautiful and gorgeous work🙏🙏
Wow! What a take. But I can't say I'm surprised in the least - this soundtrack is so coherent as a single extended piece, and there's no doubt about your ability to play any piece you set your mind to (still remembering the tour de force that is your Pride and Arrogance cover!) "The recurring motifs, the way the music supports the narrative so perfectly" The whole thing really is a masterpiece through and through. I can't get over it either. Really shows how movie sequels can take things to a whole new level of quality (Made in Abyss is another great example). It gives me hope that the Princess Principal sequel movies will follow this trend. "I could write an entire essay on why I love it so much" I would read the hell out of that, honestly. There's so much to dissect! "I think it's the kind of movie that can only really be appreciated on second viewing, and gets better the more you notice and pay attention to" Painfully accurate. I recently rewatched the whole series and Rebellion for maybe the 6th time with some friends and I was still connecting bits of visual storytelling that I never noticed before. Easily one of the most beautiful and cathartic films. I'll never understand how so many people can call it a mistake that shouldn't be considered canon.
I haven't watched madoka magica, but i like your piano, so i clicked on the video anyways. I am surprised, this is amazing!!! Glad that i clicked. I've heard some of Yuki Kaijura works, but no this ones. Really pretty, keep playing :)
i cannot stress enough how much i enjoyed this... thank you so much. it's also good to know i'm not the only one obsessed with the series and its soundtracks - the rebellion one makes me speechless every time.
this is just so so so beautiful! madoka series are always consider as an art but not anime in my heart, and you play it really well that i can't describe in english since it's not my main language
I had this tab open for a week or so, planning to watch it eventually. I just came back to it now, within the first 1 minute I stopped everything I was doing, sat back at my desk, and listened to the entire performance. I loved reading the description too! It's rare that a creator will actually use the description to tell a story, or to add context to a video like you have done. Thank you, this was a real treat. You are phenomenally talented, your performance is so expressive, and you transposition skills are brilliant. I'll be revisiting this gem very soon I have no doubt. Thank you, again :)
Thank you so much! What a wonderful comment. I love hearing about how/where/when/why someone listens! And thank you for engaging with it so fully, it means a lot. Of all the things I’ve arranged so far, this one’s my personal favorite, too :)
Dude, are you reading my mind? You're literally playing all my favorite soundtracks, zankyou no terror, and rebellion. I cant express enough how happy I am to be subscribed to you. You made my day
Congrats on 10k subs! You absolutely deserve every sub and even more. Oh and great medley! :D (Jesus how much time did you work on this? :O) Really impressive.
Thank you! It took about 3 months :) well, not counting the many failed attempts years ago! I really love this soundtrack though, wanted to go all out for it!
It really brings tears into my eyes, I adore the Madoka Magica soundtrack and your medley really captures the same atmosphere of despair, yet with a gleam of epicness and a ray of hope in-between
Thank you for this wonderful medley! I also love the OST of Madoka Magica. Reading the description, your wish came true with the official announcement of the sequel to Rebellion! Thanks again
I'm really glad that you uploaded this. I was looking for Moki's Rebellion medley but I found a new and much longer medley! Watching the entire video was a great and enjoyable experience, and I love the fact that you did it in only one take. Thank you for recording and uploading this, many people will enjoy your performance!
This is a beautiful rendition for this amazing piece of art that is the OST of Rebellion. Thank you a lot for this moment, I'm so in love with the story and the music !! All in one take makes it even better, wonderful work !!
Very impressive work in putting this together, along with a spirited and beautifully expressive performance as usual. Thank you for sharing your passion in such a way.
So interesting... I usually don't put piano covers on in the background while I work for various reasons. But with your playing, it makes everything else I do that much more enjoyable. Thank you.
this is soooo lovely i was going to play this in the bg while i was doing hw but i just ended up listening to the whole thign while staring into a corner in my room and feeling goosebumps all over my body thank you so much for this!!! wow everythjing is weaved together so well and you played it with so many ... feelings .... oh man
thank you so much for this beautiful, magical rendition of my favourite soundtrack ever! your content is criminally underrated :( I've got the whole original soundtrack and audio on my phone so I can listen to them when I can't sleep at night :) life is beautiful thanks to Rebellion... let's see if Kaiten lives up to our sky-high expectations. even if it doesn't I'm still gonna love it cuz how can I not? got your sheet music - will be ages before I feel courageous enough to try it out but way to keep me motivated I guess
I love the way you play, it‘s just so soothing :) (Btw another song recommendation for a future video if you have time: The promise of the world from Howl‘s moving castle, it‘s one of my favorite ghibli songs)
Tant d'émotions à travers cette interprétation Le rappel au thème principal dans une tonalité mineure est magnifique. Merci pour ce partage de ton talent.
