Madonna’s Confessions On A Dance Floor is a killer album beginning to end. If I would own only 1 Madonna album, that would be it. Universal has to release a Madonna Greatest Hits LP box.
I sooooo love Madonna first of all. I'm from Costa Rica sir. So glad to see you making time to introduce all these masterpieces, I mean her records . It's good finally to celebrate her 50 #1 hits she had on the dance floor. There will never be a singer like Madonna. Greetings from my country. By the way I have all her CDs "( tours, mixes etc. One video I love is " Like a Prayer" because of the burning crosses. She dances in a sexy frenzy in front of those burning crosses demanding justice. A True gem. Well, the whole album is a gem. I love " Spanish eyes"
A nice collection. I love to see people proclaiming their love for specific Madonna works. Seeing the original vinyl just reminds me of the beauty of her work and impact. Like A Prayer is the crown jewel in her crown. The mystique and art surrounding that song. To be so scandalous that the Vatican denounces you. It’s just amazing.
Awesome video! I'm a big fan as well since the 80's. Madonna is an Icon unmatched. Haters are gonna be haters. And love that the internet trolls are still trolling all things Madonna! They can't live without her either.....otherwise.....why are they here commenting?! Long live the Queen of Pop.
Great review and i am surprised you don't have 2005 "Confession on the Dance Floor" album .. wow! She takes it back to the disco era and each track is mixed one to another . Listen to it and then watch "The Confessions Tour! " i guarantee it will blow you away.
She surprises me. Even for my generation! You can’t knock her down for me. Just when I think that her career would have been over- she had these crazy comebacks! I’ve enjoyed three of the remixes and her jazz album from the dock Tracy series! This was really enjoyable to watch!
Great review of Madonna’s music. I’ve always admired her immensely & still have a soft spot for her early / 80’s output. Terrific music & imagery. Thanks Mazzy
Totally agree. The Immaculate Collection is the best you can find. When it came out on CD - bought it. Just some days ago on Vinyl as a double LP. Just great.
Fantastic review. Gosh people are so boring not liking different genres of music. I like everyone from Bob Dylan to well maddona. As a little girl growing up in the 80s she was everything to me. That like a Virginia album and how it smelt like pachouli was so good
I thoroughly enjoyed this RU-vid vid. I have been a fan of Madonna since she came out in 1983/84 when I was in high school. Thank you for showing and sharing. :) New Subscriber.
Yup believe it or not I do have Madonna in my collection you can't deny her artistry. I agree with many of the eras you like 80s and Ray of Light and "Justify My Love" is a favorite as well. The box sett looks great !!
🙏👑 God Help Anyone Who Disrespects The Queen 👑🙏 Thank You for sharing This Masterpiece 🙏🙏🙏 She Literally Helped Save My Life 🤍🤍🤍 God Bless Artists 💎💎💎 Artists Help Save Lives 💯💯💯
I'm a 57 year old man a Madonna was necessary to every tape playlist in my car. The fact that I missed this presales is heartbreaking and now I see the 6lp sets going for 600-1000 going on Ebay. Why didn't they press more? They certainly could have sold them.
@@taintedlife2618 I get it, but it would have been nice to have a one stop shopping. For instance I like Ray of Light, but not a whole lot more off that album or at least from what I've heard. I'll take a look at the 2 LP set. I just don't get why the number of pressings was so low. To me that's a mistake on the producer's part.
Rebel Heart is one of Madonna's best albums after 2000, great pop record. Erotica album is the most revolutionary Madonna album and my personal favorite. Great artist!
A club singer from NY came to my town (Spokane,WA) in '81 or '82 to perform a couple of songs for a movie called Vision Quest. Her name was Madonna, but no one knew her so she was ignored. She performed one of the songs, I'm a Gambler, at a tavern a couple miles from my house. Sorry Madonna, didn't know you.
@@duane_313 I didn't see them film. I couldn't have gone to the bar I wasn't 21. The wrestling coach at my high school played the wrestling coach in the movie. This was before Like a Virgin so we didn't know her.
My Like A Prayer lp still smells of Pathouli as well. I believe the fragrance was put into the glue that binds the cardboard. I missed out on the exclusive 6 vinyl set. It's a great set, but I would have chosen different mixes for certain songs. I would still love to have the extended versions, maybe broken down in different releases or volumes.
My box set arrived today, however it’s staying sealed since I already have the majority of these remixes across multiple formats. I am a lifelong fan and have seen M live 10 times over the years. She’s truly a once in a lifetime icon. It’s great to hear your thoughts on your collection and some of the mixes.
They way underpressed on this set, really annoyed it vanished so quickly. I would have grabbed this had I known about it although I would much rather have had a collection of the 12" singles. EDIT: I don't have any of her albums but I have most of the 12" singles including a bunch of remix service remixes (Disconet/Hot Tracks/Ultimix) thorough 1989; I was DJ'ing in the clubs in the late 80's. The highlight is a complete set of the 3 You Can Dance promos; the You Can Dance comp she released in 1987 was mixed; Sire issued three promos that gave you all the tracks on the album as separate tracks so DJ's could mix them on their own. Sire really shorted our pool (200 members we got 50 sets), I didn't get one but I was friends with the former DJ that rand the dance section at a big used record store and he got a few sets and pulled one for me. Spotlight had a pressing defect that made it skip, AFAIK the entire run is defective (every DJ I talked to in our pool had a copy that skipped), I managed to cue burn the skip out so that it played with only a minimal sound quality hit. I was literally the only DJ playing the track back then, at least in the Boston area.
I was lucky enough to get the 6LP LE set as well, but mine is staying sealed!! Rebel Heart is what I call a "fans' album", but Madame X is a work of art, highly recommend that you check it out from start to finish!
Thank you for this great review of the new Madonna box set. I'm a fan too and have a lot of her work, but slept a bit too long and this and lost the chance for the set, however do have the CD set that looks just like it. Will have to break it open and listen to check out what you were saying about it. It really is a lovely piece to add to any fan's collection and I loved seeing what you have on her on CD. Impressive!
Love that you did this video. Snooty comments making fun of you liking Madonna are totally unnecessary. You said it well: Ray Of Light is a masterpiece. I didn't see you having some of her later albums. I recommend Confessions On A Dancefloor and her latest Madame X.
Why are "people" making fun of him for liking Madonna?! I'm new to the channel and so I don't understand, infact this is my first video from my him. Also how DARE he be OPEN MINDED and like different kinds of music 😉 lol! Great review sir!
Madonnas goes in at number 3 on UK album chart I so wished we got the number one she has enough UK fans to get her to number one no problem wish they all come out for Madonna she would have out sold hole top 10 combined .good news it the album is doing amazing worldwide . It also extends Madonna s record of the most UK top 10 albums of any female artist .👑👑 Wonder how many countries stepps new collection is in the top 10 .!
Mazzy I am a proud madonna fan since 1989 (i was 11 then). but yeah i like all her stuff pretty much accept the last two or three albums. great review. glad u got the box set (now sold out). your friend from canada eh mike m
Well done video Mazzy. I bet that viynl 50 box set sounds amazing and a fun listen. My taste in music is all over the place and Madonna fits in nicely. I bet Peaches at the viynl Countdown will love this. Have a great day Mazzy
Great overview of Madonna's career. I would add that her debut on vinyl is a must-own - a sonically brilliant album and pure pop with her last great offering being 'Music'.
I can’t believe and I can’t realize this box is limited. When I saw available for purchase random some websites I don’t buy it . I want buy it at store to support local store business .. now I can’t get it from official price
Agree with your assessment on the design of the new compilation. A missed opportunity to create a strikingly beautiful product. Perhaps the budget for the design this time around is smaller.
People really under-estimate her acting skills in movies. She was really good in Desperately Seeking Susan, Bloodhounds of Broadway, Dick Tracy, A League of Their Own, Girl 6. She was amazing in Evita but she was phenomenal in Dangerous Game (1993)! And she didn't even sing there
This boxset sold out in the UK, between me seeing it announced on her RU-vid channel, finding my credit card and then actually going to her website to buy it. There were a few copies left to import from Australia but they wouldn't export them. So it's saving up and paying through the snout on the EBays I think...
Joe Nino-Hernes is a Mastering Engineer at Sterling Sound and was (don't know if he still is) a member of the Hoffman forum. Not a big fan of Maz but have a number of albums on beermat format and the UK Vogue 12" so thanx for this interesting video. Regards Chris,Staffs,England.
I believe those CD singles were called MAXI-DISCS (may be spelling that wrong). They usually came in the form of import discs that were fairly hard to come by (and expensive). Basically your 12" vinyl releases on CD form. I know they also released a set of this comp on CD and digital download. Not sure if those include the longer mixes. May just be the shorter mixes as these are supposed to be #1 hits from the Dance charts.
I saw this video and of course I could not purchase a sold out item. I was curious anyway. At my record shop I noticed they had a cd package. I purchased that because, well what else could I do. Thanks you for this video.
Thanks for the video review. My box set has shipped so I'm waiting on that. BTW, the Hard Candy vinyl was cut by Kevin Gray. The vinyl blows away the CD of that album.
I have 3 Madonna 80s albums. The debut album 1983, True Blue, and Like a Prayer. I think her song writing improved starting with True Blue. My favorite song is Cherish and I like the ballads on Like a Prayer such as Oh Father and the song about her late mother. (Can't remember the title). There is also a song she wrote for her daughter Lourdes. Saw the release at Silver Platters on the way to a concert in Seattle. Didn't buy it yet because I wanted to buy merchandise at the concert. Thanks for this unboxing.
To your point, it's a shame the design work did not match the originality of the music. Aesthetically it looks like something you might have found in the bargain bin at Tower a quarter of a century ago. Only, it's Madonnas, so the music is great. Thank God. Thorough and informative video. Thanks!
Surely most people would be hard pressed to not like any Madonna songs, I suggest you try Madame X of her 21CE output because it's something different with deeper cuts and I'm sure you'd love the controversy.
I'm guessing that the sound isn't as dynamic as you remember is because the original 12-inch singles were all 45 RPM. I picked up the "papa don't preach" 12 inch from Goodwill about 10 years ago for 99 cents and never play it until recently. The sound quality is amazing
All Sire 12" singles were 45 RPM in the early to mid 80's, they had a ton of dynamics. That stopped in 87 or 88 when they started putting 6 different versions of a song on a 12 single.
Love Madonna, Confessions On A Dance Floor is a masterpiece. Really great dance electronic masterpiece. Like A Prayer, Erotica, Ray Of Light and Music are also great Madonna albums. I am a huge fan of Prince and Madonna fan. I grew up in the eighties.
No mixes compare to a Madonna Maxi single. The Beast Within should have been on the new compilation. I feel like as a fan of hers I could have chosen a better title, cover and track list for this new release.
hi Mazzy .... it would be interesting [if you were so inclined] to hear your take on how the Qobuz 88 / 24 HiRes via DAC o f this setcompares audio wise ... I know that this is not a physical option that you can hold in your hand but, to my ears, the songs sound very good ... and you don't need a ton of audio kit to hear the music in superb quality... I do buy physical product [cds, box sets] but it is great to try before you buy and the HiRes route works great for that .... Madonna has an exceptional catalogue [and that comes from a died in the wool 61 year old rock fan] and her last few albums make great listening ... I moved on my vinyl last year and am actually ok with the choice I made [wife was happy with the freed up space !!] ... mind you, I should have kept the Last Waltz set ... nice booklet. Always enjoy your videos .... CMcG, Aberdeen, Scotland
I’m sure there are differences but streaming just doesn’t interest me and the ongoing comparing of multi versions is time taken away from enjoying different music. I’ll leave that to others ✌🏼
For a greatest hits of sorts it's a good album. The EQ definitely implies where she made her name..... Radio. If the EQ was for good hifi it would sound very different. It should be done though.
The Cd of immaculate sounds pretty good but Ive never heard the vinyl. Vinyl almost always sounds better than CDs to me. But the old 12” 45s still sound the best
Not my cup of tea but, can't deny her talent.I think she lived in the Bronx in her very early days. I knew a guy who knew a guy that was going out w/ her.
I settled on the You Can Dance dance mix compilation CD. I have that Justify My Love CD along with the short VHS tape of the uncensored music video. I would rather have a box set of her 12-inch singles(and Prince's, too).
It's so annoying that Warner Brothers are being so quiet about the reissue campaign. I hope they don't make us wait until next year for the 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of her debut album, "Madonna".
hey mazzy...i have several madonna stories (one time when she was even booed off the stage), but the story i will tell is about her 'american pie' video...she shot it at a meat and three down in tennessee called 'dotsons'....sadly, it's no longer there, but several years before madonna arrived, i was friends with the owner and my wife and i got married in that same restaurant...small world.......by the way...the operation went well...peace my friend...rocky
Also a Madonna fan here... My favorite song is Vogue, particularly the version on the live album I'm Going To Tell You A Secret. Warner and Madonna announced last year that they would re-issue her entire catalog in luxury album versions. The first albums should be released this year. I'm very much looking forward to that. Most Madonna music I own is on CD apart from a few 12 inches. Have you heard anything about the upcoming re-issues (since you have friends at Warner Music) Mazzy?
Interesting as that is where she started to lose me. I prefer her earlier synth-pop material. But I was gigging in clubs at the time and was REALLY burned out on housification of all dance music; everything had to have a house mix and none of them were vaguely like house music; it was the dance music equivalent of the Verizon "hello fello kids" meme. By 1990 I'd also fallen off the dance pop train, gotten on and fallen off the house, acid house, new beat, and EBM trains, was the conductor of the techno train. So my musical tastes for dance music had shifted a lot.
@@marksironi3324 I hear what you say and tend to agree. There was indeed a period where the at that time current club trends where milked out by the main stream pop artist. I guess they saw a way to stretch there "market presence". This was even the death for New Beat. However, I do not feel about that about the track Vogue. I'm not talking about the radio edit (or single version) because I always felt that this version was not showing the full potential of the song. The live version I referred to does a far better job at that. And paired with the visual performance it is just great. One of the reasons why Madonna has been in the spotlights for several decades is that she could re-invent herself and be at leading front of the new decade. There are not many artists who where able to do that. For me personally I started to lose her at the era when the album Hard Candy came out. In the end I did buy that album but never really got into it. This was also the last album I bought from Madonna.
I was excited when they announced the re releases but I am so underwhelmed by this release that I fear the re-releases may be substandard. Madonna lacks nostalgia.
The design does not serve Madonna well. You are correct. The inside booklet is better. But even the title hurts my soul. It’s more GHV2 or a Celebration rather than The Immaculate Collection/ the Royal Box. I just resent whoever works with Madonna these days on these releases. WHERE IS CHRISTOPHER CICCONE!!???
@@mazzysmusic also Madonna has a really good compilation called You Can Dance. Stream it if you can. I think you’ll enjoy it. One more thing she also has a compilation called Something To Remember. It’s her ballads. Both are available on vinyl.
