This song is badass..I just turned 60... I play guitar, mainly rock n roll, blues stuff. But I remember when this came out. I loved the bass line. It drives the song. The lead guitar is great too...I love how Madonna kinda talks her way through out the song and then singing in sections. Yup it just has an awesome hook to it..I love it .😀👍♥️

A lot of people don't realize just how huge the Album simple called "Madonna" was. Out of the eight tracks you could say easily say that six of the songs were hits and at least 3 or four could be considered MONSTER Hits. She was a breath of fresh air and you knew that if Madonna released a song, it was going to be good. A Madonna video release was considered an event and she never disappointed her fans. When I think of the one and done Albums and the one hit wonders, she is truly cream that rose to the top. Fun, Controversial, trendsetting, risk taker and superb. Thank goodness then and now for the best selling and perhaps the greatest female artist of all time. Madonna.

@@jarulelamar2025 Go look at the numbers, dude. She has something like 50 (!) number one singles, more than the Beatles or Elvis or any other artist. I was listening to a music podcast and they brought up the record set by Madonna that is even crazier than her number one hits: something like her first 20 consecutive songs she released to radio hit the top ten (most in the top 3) on the Billboard pop charts. Literally every song she put out for the first part of her career made the top ten on the main Billboard pop charts. There’s no one from today who could even release three consecutive songs into the top ten, let alone 20! Someone like Drake has probably had a string of songs land in the top ten of the rnb and hip hop list, but not the main Billboard chart. Taylor Swift is probably the closest to having done that in modern times, but her number is probably around 5. Bruno Mars probably did it around 5 times as well. Madonna did it 20 times from the very first song of her career. And when the streak was broken-a soundtrack song from, I believe, the Sean Penn At Close Range movie, but don’t quote me on that-she proceeded to have another long run in the top ten (the Express Yourself, Vogue, Like A Prayer era). The numbers speak for themselves. Madonna was definitely a phenomenon alongside MJ and Prince. Edit: my bad. I confused the numbers. Madonna does have the most number ones of any artist in Billboard history, but that was across ALL lists-dance, pop, etc.-not the main top 100 pop chart list. The Beatles still have the most number ones (20) for the top 100.

When I look back at a lot of her older interviews from that time it was very obvious she was extremely confident and stopped at nothing to get herself where is today. She had a vision, she had a belief and she went after it. There’s no secret it to it really.

When you watch these old videos you can really see how Madonna became a star. When she says "unlike the others, I'd do anything," you believe her...lol. She was so wild and aggressive and uninhibited. And beautiful, not in a conventional way, but she just somehow has such an iconic face - she's just interesting to look at.

+ScinLaeca358 Back in the 1980s, some music magazine writers were comparing her to Marilyn Monroe, and Madonna herself acknowledged that she was trying to attain the type of widespread recognition and celebrity that Monroe had. To me, she is more like Marlene Dietrich. And that is not a bad thing at all. Dietrich had a very long acting and musical career, and she still looked sexy, even into the 1960s. Madonna, from the photos that I've seen of her on her "Rebel Hearts" US Tour on Facebook, appears to be doing a similar type of presentation that Marlene Dietrich did for her concert performances during her residencies in Las Vegas, Nevada in the mid-to-late 1950s. If you look at the photos of Dietrich during that time, and compare them to Madonna, the similarities are striking. I guess that history repeats itself in some ways. For Madonna, it is serving her very well, and I like what I am seeing from her at this time.

IMHO, it wasn't until Erotica that she pivoted to appealing to gays and not straight white dudes like me anymore, because that's the time she lost me as a fan. I remember dancing till the early hours of the AM to Madonna's first album. A DJ in a gay club played it and the dance floor was so alive. This song will never die and the video is one of a kind. The way the 80's captures on beta cam just encapsulates the time.

It's sad to see what she was and what she turned in to. When she was in her 40s I thought it would be great to see so a strong, empowered woman age gracefully and set the mold. Instead she has made herself plastic and shown herself to be as weak and sad as the rest of Hollywood. Not the empowered or powerful woman she pretended to be.

I was on a trip with my family to NYC in 1982, and I bought this album on vinyl. Running to catch a taxi the album slid right out of the bag. Only when I looked out of the taxi window did I even realize it. Anyway it was in the street and a truck ran over it before I had a chance to go get it. I still have it to this day, it's in pieces inside the album cover since 1982.

Absolutely, I seen Madonna in concert in 1982 with Steve bray and the Breakfast Club. The concert was at Hoover Junior Highschool's gymnasium and I was in 7th grade. Tickets cost around 4 dollars. And she totally rocked the house, and incidentally broke up with her boyfriend and the breakfast club that day. This was in Taylor, Mi early in the semester school year, probably September or October.

She was beautiful and hungry for stardom. You can see it all over her. I believe she wrote this song along with many others. People who say shes old and don't listen to her are ignorant of just how much of an icon she is! Shes still beautiful and the fact that shes been around since 1983 is an amazing feat and shes a great performer, dancing included and she is not going away anytime soon! I think this simple video is one her best. Good song good music. I still remember being down at Valley College at 2:40AM back in 1989 on a deserted empty school parking lot road. My car doors open , this song playing on the cassette player and me on the ground infront of my car with the headlights on me trying my very best to do her same moves. Oh the very odd things we did back when we were young.

I love this song! I was only 3 when this was released. 😂 Having older siblings who were mostly teens in the 80's was awesome and it helped me tremendously with me loving music from the late 70's to the mid 80's time period. I was mostly into what they were into. Madonna is such an icon! ❤

This was the video that actually introduced me to her. It just came on, on one of the video shows, that dominated the 80s. Her self titled album is my favorite. Physical Attraction and Think Of Me are two other great tracks.
