Madonna performs Holiday and Live to Tell during her Celebration Tour in Brooklyn on December 16th at Barclay's Stadium. #mlvcpodcast #madonna #madonnatour #madonnaforever
The dramatic and poignant transition from Holiday to Live To Tell to Like A Prayer is so quintessentially Madonna-from joy to grief to redemption. I can imagine during her near death “induced coma”, her spirit took her to relive and visit her dearest friends who perished during the AIDS epidemic-symbolized by her ride on that cosmic portal as she sings and looks sadly but lovingly at their images…to honor and say goodbye to their memory one more time; and to offer her prayer for them. This is so hauntingly beautiful and spiritual.
Watching this performance on RU-vid I said to myself "well cool, good performance", but when I experienced it live I got huge shivers and felt what Madonna just wanted to convey through it. First fun and "Holiday" and then death, lots of death. I appreciated it strongly.
Man, I saw her in Miami and this performance wrecked me. Such a gorgeous tribute to all of those we lost too soon. I'm so happy she's with us to still create and perform.
Thank you so much for this anazing recording. It hits me everytime when i see it. And now fron this angel its even more beautiful then I tought. I saw her in Amsterdam but from the floor and cried .
Holiday doesn't sound like the pre-recorded original track from her first album.. or even a remixed version from Immaculate Collection or You can Dance This sounds like a live version they created in a studio for the tour!
Both of you are wrong. Madonna also had a song about Aids. In this lufe. It was an interlude here between hioliday and live to tell. Whitney spoke about Aids and donated money. So did MJ who was Ryan White's friend. George Michael did loads for aids benefits as well. So maybe both of you, get your facts straight
