P.s. The ‘Dub Beats’ give a distinct Prince feel with the bass and guitar riffs, just like his Uptown Remix of ‘101’ (which he wrote for Sheena Easton) in that same year.

P.s. 2: The Dub Beats contains a sample of ‘Bob George’ by Prince, five years later released on The Black Album. Prince was credited on the B-side of the Like a Prayer single ‘Act of Contrition’ as ‘The Powers That Be’.

So what's the deal with Immaculate Collection? Are they all reworkings? Any definitive versions on there? Is it well liked by fans? Lots of questions!

​@@bridgethegapreactions Reworked mixes on Like A Prayer and Express Yourself, also a bit longer mix of Vogue. Rest of the songs were Remastered for the Immaculate Collection which is her first "best of", perfect collection actually 😉

@@bridgethegapreactions They're not all reworkings on "The Immaculate Collection" (TIC) but there are some differences. "Borderline" is at least a minute shorter than the original album version. "Into the Groove" has a different beginning and the tumbling piano solo, which I think was first done on the "Who's That Girl?" tour and a longer version later released on the "You Can Dance" album. "Like A Prayer" is the "Blond Ambition" version. The beginning of "Express Yourself" is different. Vogue has the "What are you looking at?" restored, and that's about it for the existing songs. It was the inclusion of two, as yet unreleased and uncharted songs on a "Greatest Hits" album which drew comment at the time, but only Madonna, at the height of her fame and popularity, could do that. "Justify My Love" was released a week or so before TIC and would go on to become a legitimate hit in its own right. "Rescue Me" less so. It did okay but it's one of the lesser known songs and she never performs it (I'm not counting that Madame X vocal interlude) but that might change in a few days. That the tracks appear in chronological order (very unMadonna) showcased a clear career evolution, at least up until that point. GHV2 picked up where TIC left off, whereas "Celebration" was not chronological. I do like TIC, though, at the time, I would have preferred to have single or at least album versions of the tracks and not variants. But this was before online, digital, or streaming existed. Now it doesn't matter because you can curate your own playlist with whichever versions you like.
