I love her in this interview. The whole era and the message she had to send through her art was inspiring, which is a rare thing for a pop artist in my opinion.
+Matt Thompson What i like about this era is that MTV dedicated the whole weekend about madonna, showing all her music videos and clip of old interviews, do you remember? it was call "madonna weekend", around march '98.
Blame it on the internet, lol, why do people have to wait for weekend special with old interviews from their favorite artist when they can watch it on youtube, Do you remember the ultra-madonna special on 1998 when they shows parts of all her 80's and 90's interviews? I felt in heaven, i recorded it on VCR and i used to watch it all the time.
The interviewer is a doughnut. I may not always agree with Madonna but she is very intelligent. You can see her wanting to roll her eyes, but she holds back.
My favorite Madonna era 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼. This is the first Madonna music video I fell in love with and Ray of Light is my absolute favorite, the music video, the song and the album. ❤️❤️❤️
she is like... very mature and doesn't really cares ab out what they may say.. she is focused on doing quality music and videos, not always trying to please their fans. she is so professional, demanding and very hard working.. that's why i like her so much :)
Madonna is a likeable person....her smile in the girlie show changed my heart toward her...her beautyfull smile.....and when she looks at you with kindness, joy & love.
Maybe it's just me, but the interviewer almost seems antagonistic toward her. Maybe he just doesn't know much about his subject... she is being a good sport about it all, 'tho.
this was by the end of the 90's. Grunge music was hip at the beginning of the decade. Actually Madonna's music at the time was spot on with indie trends (trip hop electro pop and techno)
Never actually seen this interview until now and she obviously isn't into electronic music or else she would have known that what she was making was trance music and electronica is a marketing term and not the actual name of the genre.
this is not trance...you need to actually read what trance music is...I can't at bitches like YOU not even getting a genre right and trying to Judge an Icon who predated the genre.
@@TarantulaCandy Exactly lol, why is he nitpicking this random detail. Plus, in 1998 many people still called all electronic music as electronica or techno.
"The song is by..." Curtiss Maldoon. So you understand why Madonna finds it hard to answer the first question. She rips off all the best lines, all those lines you thought "wow, there's a new depth to her song writing". So much for "maturity", good PR trumps it any day.
I have both. The original is so dorky, but I still love it. Madonna made it about God and hope, while the original was about dungeons and dragons. The lyrics are the almost the same, but the music is not.
that's also true, although I really like her in "A League Of Their Own" also I've never watched Evita, because I dont really like musicals, but she won a golden globe, maybe it aint such a bad movie after all lol
She must have been in a really good mood. I mean, how lame is this guy?! Rude at times even. Poor preparation. I'm surprised Madonna had the patience for him.
Ray of Light is her best record, bar none. Her new found spiritual side though... it was just a phase, or it was fake. A new persona to wear because it was "in" at the time. Having heard her subsequent music and videos, she's back to the old depravity and sex icon BS. I mean, I'm by no means a prude but seeing that is just cringe, especially as she's gotten older.
"Do you want to be a ray of light?" just may be the most ridiculous question since Barbara Walters asked Katherine Hepburn "What kind of a tree would you be?" Yes, I know it was asked as a metaphor, but still darling - you have one shot to interview the Queen of Pop and that''s what you ask? It would only be topped two minutes later when he asked "Are the dance clubs important to you?"
Romania video blocked Ray of light , really nice people we get to see all of the rest exept this one, helloo, she did a concert here, might as well censore her name.
her spiritual journey lasted 5 minutes and made 5 million dollars - what a joke, but as an artist, she is great, but as a spiritual person, a brand new baby beginner
I think she gets bored a lot. LOL I mean... she's been a billionarie since the 1980's and she has never stopped working. Not at least more than a few months.
+19Osiris71 Koyaanisqatsi is life out of balance. This song is about hope. The fast forward effect in Koyaanisqatsi it is one of many effects while in Ray of Light it is the only effect along with very fast cutting. They are not the same thing just because they share a film technique.
***** ???!!!...really! she might be a narcisist (or sociopath!!!) because she debates by her attitude and thinking??!!!... what you debate about? about your shampoo and hair color??!!! wow, thats the more "intelligent" comment I´ve ever read
