This album, Ray of Light, was one of the best albums ever produced in history.. Even if its released nowadays, it will still hit hard in the market bcoz its TIMELESS!
I think Madonna still has the ability and drive to do another Ray of Light. Rebel Heart and Madame X were just as adventurous and daring but the songwriting wasn't there 100%
@@gategate5367 all her albums are shit apart from the one produced by William Orbit. I respect and look up to none of these sold out, followers of satan
I don't think Madonna thinks about what her fans want. I think she thinks more about what story she wants to tell and what songs fit that story. Since "Drowned World", her concerts were not dependent upon her hit songs, and as fans, for the most part, we've come to accept that, at least I have. If she really cared what the fans -- not me, mind you -- wanted, she would sing more of her hits. I'm thrilled with the setlist, but it does leave out quite a few hits and BIGGER-hit songs. "You'll See", "I'll Remember", "Take a Bow", "Cherish", among many others were all big hits, yet were AGAIN ignored. Again, I'm fine with that, because the setlist that we do get is nonetheless awesome
@@valentinomiller6251 You are right. Probably that is what we (a lot of or most of her fans) love her for. That she departs from the point where is at, knows what she wants to say, reflects back on her songs and chooses the ones that express what she wants to say. Past, present and future are interconnected.
@@mikebuluran1113 The dancing is so fresh.. the stares and references through the whole thing. This video will remain powerful til the end of times. Hands down.
LUCKY LUCKY YOU!! How much did you pay for your ticket?? Just saw that she finished the tour last night, 5/5/24 on the Copacabana Beach in Rio with 1.6 million people in attendance. I couldn't afford ANY of her tickets for the entire "World Celebration" tour. Saw her last in 2008 in her hometown of Detroit.
This song contains my favorite bridge in any Madonna song: "Nothing takes the past away, like the future. Nothing makes the darkness go, like the light. You're shelter from the storm. Give me comfort, in your arms!" Brilliant!
yep, love is all you need, especially loving yourself before you love someone or anything else. Madonna’s whole music catalogue is my lifetime theme song❤

I've often found that people who say theyre not huge Madonna fans is because they have just heard a couple songs. The deeper you get into her catalogue and persona the bigger respect for her as an artist you get. Unfortunately she faced a lot of ridicule from the media due to sexism and so a lot of her critique is still pervasive in people who write her off on that basis. Luckily I think as the newer generations keep rediscovering more of the pasts female artists like with Kate Bush and Stevie Nicks, Madonna will continue to be more respected as the true artist, intellectual, feminist icon and trailblazer that she always was.
I wonder - why do idiots always have to put the preface "I'm not a fan" before commenting on Madonna, yet they never do the same for many other less talented, less artistic, less interesting, less challenging artists? Why?
@@titteryenot1136 it kind of was a while ago though…. If the water bags in this video were human newborns they could drink and some might have graduate degrees by now.
@@TheNatalie2712 Thank you darling. Most people don t know that whetever we do or we give is returned to us. Well , Madonna She knew It very well in her song :)
And interesting enough, Madonna earned two Grammys thanks to those two albums, Best Pop Album with Ray Of Light and Best Dance/Electronic Album with Confessions On A Dancefloor.
Ray of Light was just so powerful. I'm a hardcore metal head but this album drew me in like few others. Madonna's best work packed in, and her best writing too.
I follow Madonna since 85'. In the 90' I started to listen to metal, but even dressed in black with Metallica shirt, I still was a die hard Madonna fan. And I didn't care.
This era of Madonna is my favorite. The songs and videos were absolutely on point. Great lyrics, great music, great choreography, great cinematography. Absolute fire 🔥
Ray of Light is the undying album that Madonna made for all generations. But the song “Nothing Really Matters” was an oppressed song by Madonna, even though it is one of the most beautiful and modern clips. When you watch it, you are surprised that it was produced in 1999, something truly amazing.
A visual and musical masterpiece. We are really in a higher pop level. Absolutely stunning Video & one of Madonna’s best songs ever. Thanks for the HD.
1,6 million people singing this song in Rio last saturday (05/04/24). And it's not even among her biggest hits here. The Queen of Pop still kicking lots of asses and shutting haters mouths.
Not only was Ray Of Light one of Madonna's very best albums, but it also spawned some visually stunning videos. Nothing really matters is definitely one of them! The jerky dance movements are so mesmerizing. Can't wait for the reissue of this brilliant chapter of her career.
I have always loved this song. The music video feels so clean and unique. No one makes video like this anymore. I’m glad she opened the tour with this song
The Era "Ray of Light" is Iconic in the history musical of Madonna. The Sounds, The Customes, The Voice (the best in alls album of her), The Videos. The Influencial in other Artists. Great Job.
One of her most underrated and under appreciated great songs (only rivaled by Deeper & Deeper). Should have been a massive #1. Still fresh AF 🔥 in 2021 and beyond
I was disappointed back in 2001 when she didn't include this song in the Drowned World Tour set list. And now, after 22 years, Nothing Really Matters has been chosen as the Celebration Tour opening song: a great redemption. I couldn't be more happy.
This is my all time favorite track. It is so timeless, spiritual, liberating and empowerig. There is so much truth in it. You can't carry life's baggage with you to everywhere you go, but you can keep and carry love in your heart and mind regardless of where you are. Love travels and stays with you. It also motivates and energizes you and makes you overcome what life throws at you. The video is far ahead of its time. It is about making it through chaos and spiritual rebirth through love. As the fourth single from Ray of light album, its extended dance CD topped the sales chart as well as the dance club chart. It made it into hot 100, but didn't go all the way to top 40 because the radios were still playing the other tracks from the Ray of Light album. This song didn't get enough radio airplay that it deserved. It is one of Madonna's greatest tracks ever. I love her voice, especially on this track. Lets give this extraordinary gem of a track finally enough love and appreciation that it deserves by revisiting it again and again and by playing it everywhere.
One of her best songs and her best music video ever. The crazy scenes, the set, her outfit, everything is so incredibly perfect and weird that after all these years I still see it and feel amazed.
That build-up though at 03:30 where the beat starts to go really hard and just when you think it's gonna climax into one big thumping beat, it dips and Madonna follows it up with mellow singing is simply what you would consider a genius musical tease - you want more but you just can't. And thus, you end up listening to it over and over again. It is effectively toxic and I am addicted to it.
A favorite part!!! Keeps on repeating that. Also, she and her team has the same addictive beat with The Power of Goodbye. After the part “I learn to say goodbye. I yearn to say goodbye!” Damn, the melody/beat is just addictively insane!!! Love these 2 songs!!! 😍😍😍
Once may or may not be a fan of Madonna. However, no one can deny the woman is a living legend. Creativity. Talent. Courage.... no one dead or alive is and may never be compared to her. Amazing.
Who’s back here for this MV, after being captivated by Madonna’s opening performance on Celebration tour? 🙋🏻♂️ Back then, her Ray of Light CD was always on repeat in my disc player ❤
@madonna #MadonnaMarcouMinhaVida
The music scene in 98 was Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync. Madonna was a 40 year old new mom and she said f*ck the ‘rules’ and DOMINATED with Ray of Light! So risky and unexpected.
Actually Britney Spears only released her first single in mid of 99 and so did Christina Aguilera. NSync had their first US TOP 10 song in '99 and Backstreet boys had big hits in '96 and '99 but not in '98. In 1998 was all about Titanic Celine Dion song, Madonna (this album sold over 18 million copies!), Janet Jackson ("Together Again" was the biggest hit of her carreer) and a couple more things (but not much more global). Madonna never went anywhere since she started having TOP 10 Hits in 1984 and during 1998 she had another 2 TOP 10 Hits with "Frozen" (#02) and "Ray of Light" (#05). But in 1997 she had a TOP 10 with "Don't Cry For Me Argentina", in 1996 with "You'll See", in 1995 with "Take a Bow" (#01 for 7 weeks), 1994 with "I''ll Remember" (#02) and "Secret"(#03).... and in almost all years before since she started her carreer. Before it was more regular some 40 yo woman to have TOP 10 Hits (Tina Turner, Cher and other artists did it as well before Madonna).
@@nunogouveia6458 1998 was also the year of The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill (by Lauryn Hill) and Destiny's Child's first and self-titled album. And also Brandy's Never Say Never was huge.
This is Johan Renck's masterpiece in the remastered HD quality it deserves. Needless to say Madonna is in a league of her own. The red kimono was designed by Jean Paul Gaultier and was also worn at the 41st Grammy Award performance of the track.
Fun fact, this video is recorded in sweden at the shcool of KTH, in the basement of the school roughly 25 meters down there is an abandoned nuclear reactor wich was swedens first nuclear reactor. The reactor was active from July 13, 1954 to June 6, 1970. The reactor is now gone but the hallways and big rooms are still left and gives of a creepy vibe wich made this video spectacular.

I agree, I have listened to old music such as Madonna and Prince today. There are tons of others over this past year and previous years in the comments doing the same. It seems the music industry is missing the talent and stars it once had and is producing music no one likes or wants.
I know exact what you mean. I was thinking the very same thing. I’ll never forget where I was when this came out. I had come to the end of an extremely painful divorce, and had escaped to the mountains to “lick my wounds” as it were. It was a very very snowy winter, winter of 1998, and I took such comfort and strength from this record!
I was just 9 years old when this album was released, and I must say this gave a good memories on my childhood years. This is the album i keep coming back. The album is undeniably beautiful - and I must say it was the top tier album of Madonna.
#MadonnaMarcouMinhaVida
