I used to live for shows like this in the days before internet, RU-vid, social media, like when MTV had full Madonna weekends of specials and playing all her music videos, I used to record them all on VHS, Yes I said it VHS but I was very young ( I swear ) 😬😳☺️🤭😂😂
Yes she still does you idiot. Literally stfu. Madonna is the best selling female recording artist of all time, recognized by The Guinness Book of World Records. Madonna is the highest grossing tour by a female solo artist of all time, also recognized by The Guinness Book of World Records. Madonna has sold over 335 Million records worldwide and grossed over 1.4 Billion dollars from her tours, and continues to make great music and tour. Madonna's name stands beside The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson as one of the best selling artists of all time. Madonna is the only female artist besides Aretha Franklin in the top 40 of The Rolling Stones, "100 Greatest Artists of all time", standing right beside Michael Jackson. If it weren't for Madonna, no female pop star would exist today. Madonna's cultural impact and shaping of the music industry is incomparable. Madonna is The Queen of Pop. Madonna is worth hundreds of millions of dollars more than what you or your entire family could ever imagine to be even if given an unlimited number of lifetimes. Go back to your hole and suck it up kid. You Devil Worshiper. @@cowoklasik5466
Omg I remember watching this in 1998 on VH1, when it aired, how I miss those days. I was 17 years old in 1998...now I'm about to turn 42 in 2 weeks. How time flies by. This was a great special for The Undisputed Queen Of Pop Madonna...it shows you her beginnings and Trumps & Tribulations, what kind of iconic pioneer she was...she broke barriers and shattered the class and paved the way for young women in the music industry today. Whatever they say about her or try to dismiss her...she will always be the Queen Of Pop and a icon.
It's so funny how justify my love was shocking for 1991 in today's world it wouldn't even scratch the surface of shocking. Justify and Erotica are two of the best songs and videos of it's time
I've got Madonna's video collection on DVDs ("Celebration") and you watch through a collection of pop video masterpieces. Then suddenly towards the end of disc 1 we have Justify My Love and then it gets even deeper and darker with Erotica and it seems so out of kilter with everything else. Despite what people used to say, Madonna wasn't truly shocking. And some of the stuff was shocking only in America, for example Madonna kissing a black saint in Like a Prayer. I had no idea stuff like that was controversial on the other side of the Atlantic. It all seems so strange. The only stuff that shocked me in her DVDs was the Justify My Love (not so much shocking but a giant change of tone!) and then Erotica which was very arty, beautifully shot and done tongue in cheek but most of her young school and college age audience wouldn't have taken it that way. When I first saw Erotica aged about 20 the video seemed dark and spooky and the S&M sex references would have been outside her young audience’s range of experience ~ more “eew!” then “ooh!”
What people don’t realize is she gave everyone the big F U and she did it her way even when they said it couldn’t be done and she showed them it could be done and she did it the way she wanted to do it And I give her props for being an amazing mother she’s very hands on and that’s fabulous and her children will always remember that with her And I love how it’s her way or no way that rocks give them hell Madonna 🥰
When she told Dick Clark after performing holiday “I want to rule the world 🌎 “ Damnnnn that’s my girl ♥️ and I along with millions of people wanted to dress sing dance and look like her. She’s amazing 😻
Someone explain to me why a guy born in 1988 at the height of Madonna’s fame grew up in the 90s having only heard her name and not having a clue who she was saw the video to Vogue on night on MTV in 2003 at age 15 and has adored her ever since 😅
Madonna is my favorite music artist every since I was sixteen she came out and I could relate to the song like a virgin I was a virgin there so I fell in love with her and her music she is a legend in music the queen.
Actually she had her first TV Debut in December 1982 on Dancing On Air with Everybody. That's when Everybody peaked at #3 on the Billboard Dance Charts. I think why it's forgotten that she had tv debut in late '82 because a lot of people didn't have cable tv. But it was in 1982 nonetheless. You can even watch it on RU-vid.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GvRR1Q-_c90.html The clip referred to above. She was a pioneer. Ground-breaking, ambitious, fun, and an artist totally in control of herself and not being exploited by anyone. ICONIC (as she would later sing!)
Any Madonna fans remember what show did her Pepsi “Like A Prayer” video debut? Hint: It was 1989, and it was a big event, so they debuted it on a commercial break from the highest rated show of the time. Answer: “The Cosby Show”. I remember, I was anxiously waiting for it.
I'm British and I remember hearing about Bill Cosby. His show wasn't really that popular over here but I read about him in the paper ~ at that time in the 80s he was the highest paid man in showbusiness for the Cosby Show. All I remember is seeing his picture on the cover of his books, etc and thinking "why does this man have such a cruel look in his eye? I thought he was meant to be funny"...
Her behavior is what got her where she is today. She broke the barriers for every woman to express their erotic side. She continually had to evolve herself. Bad girl good girl throughout her career. Her children calmed her down a little bit. I love her , have from day one on American Bandstand 💜💙😊
Ray of light was not released after 8 years of being absent. You forgot Bedtime stories in 1994 🙄. Take a bow was her longest run at number 1 on the hot 100. How could you make such a big mistake?!
I remember me and my sisters seeing “music” for the 1st time on mtv. What a time to be alive 😂 You can say what you like about maddona but she always be a massive icon 💯
A great artist and performer and gave a lot to the world in terms of Melody and Harmony. Her music truly made this a better world. The world needs more people like her to lift people's spirits with great music. It was a great time growing up in America.
Same here. And I was more a metal/punk/alternative style chick. Dressed up like her every day packing it on at the bus stop and taking it off on the way home ….my poor ex military, businessman, conservative Irish Catholic father. He said I looked like a Christmas tree with all that garnish. L O L pretty much tuned out current music I was into, but he did say something about my 13-year old obsession, and that was “Madonna is an entrepreneur”.
Thank you for putting this together and posting. I miss this Madonna...so unique and totally untouchable. She was and will remain a total breath of fresh air. You can't help but feel awesome watching her and listening to her music. A real icon and may God bless her. 💕
Her bravest moment came when she opened her Rebel Heart with her motherhood trilogy Evita, Ray of Light and Music-and Music has her saddest ballads to date!
Her MTV video awards where she performed Like a Virgin people were still wearing ball gowns and red carpet attire. She just broke all the “girl” rules and was rewarded by millions and millions of fans ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Such a sacrilege Bedtime Stories is missing. So many memorable fabulous moments happened in that era. Take a Bow and Human Nature videos, The Pajama Party to name a few.
Ahhh the good old days where music was original, interesting and GOOD. Not like the ridiculous rubbish now with women looking plastic and sounding worse.
According to Bert Padell (Madonna's accountant at the time) Madonna returned the $5 million to Pepsi. She didn't have to return it but she did it cause she wanted to. Madonna gained away more with all Pepsi free controversy.
For the most part ~ except during her Sex and Erotica phase ~ it was only really old people who were shocked by Madonna. Especially stuff like singing Like a Virgin in a wedding dress. No one was outraged by that! Well... maybe in America they were, but definitely not in Europe.
AWESOME FANTASTIC MOMENTS WITH MY QUEEN OF POP MADONNA I LOVE YOU WONDERFUL VIDEO CLIPS WOW ICONIC BRILLIANT PERFORMER GREAT MUSICAL TALENT BLAST FROM THE PAST AMAZING MARVELLOUS THANKYOU NAMASTE FROM ENGLAND INDEED THUMBS UP SUPER, VERY GOOD MORNING WISHING YOU ALL A BLESSED FRUITFUL JOLLY DAY AHEAD SENDING SMILES MY LOVE & LIGHT MUAH WOAH BRAVOOO XD XXXXXXX
Born in 58, she would have been 26 on AB in 1984, not 23. Surprising error on the part of the production team. She wasn't 26 yet, but living her 26th year, when that show aired in January of 1984.
@@shayaubrey3590 I mean, they showed (!) a clip from the VMA's, saying (!) it's where she won for Take a Bow... Makes overlooking "Bedtime Stories" even weirder.
Madonna studied dance with Martha Graham the greatest dancer and pioneers of modern dance. She may not have had the greatest voice but make no mistake Madonna was already an artists especially as a provocator . She pushed boundaries and that’s what great art does. She was a great entertainer and she was a serious artist.
