They are both amazing artists. I just don't see how it can't be someone else's turn to become an Icon. Is it limited to JUST madonna??? If society won't allow for there to be any new Icons music will never grow and evolve. Lady Gaga is actually quite different from Madonna and you could find similarities anywhere in anything if thats what your looking for. Madonna is Madonna and Gaga is Gaga. Lady Gaga is the new Icon of Pop. I see nothing wrong with that.

Both these women are inspirations - I'm not keen on Madonna but i can appreciate her as an artist. I just wish this whole argument would stop. They aren't equal, in a way they are very similar, but are very different; i love Gaga, but i'm not about to parade around slamming Madonna just because I like Gaga more than her? People need to just stop spreading hate, i'm sick of seeing this stuff.
Madonna talks about Gaga in a way that's not insulting, but "ironic" and always referring to herself and then swiftly moving the conversation back to herself was, to me, sounding like she's not a huge fan or somewhat dislikes her.

Madonna was rightfully insecure and jealous about lady gaga. Lady gaga in only 15 years managed to do what madonna couldn’t do in 40 years. The ONLY thing madonna outdoes Gaga in is discography sales and it’s obviously since her career is 25 years older.. Gaga has double the Grammys madonna has, Gaga was nominated for two oscars and won one, she has an Emmy and a Golden Globe, her music is much better received by music critics and her stage presence is either as good or better than Madonna’s… she really is the true queen of pop and still has many years of success ahead of her to prove it. I really don’t blame madonna for being a bitch about Gaga back in 2011… imagine seeing a 21 years old girl release songs like poker face, just dance and bad romance… she must’ve noticed that her throne is about to shake.
