I am just speculating, but I think Will started these skits acting like a goofy Kenny Rogers and Kenny complained about being made fun of! So Will Sasso said “oh yea, watch this!”..... It would make logical sense because Will did it at the flip of a switch and ground on it real hard!

"After Mad TV's first season, Fox rarely promoted the series and frequently made budget cuts, with cast and crew members such as Debra Wilson and Bahr referring to the series as the "redheaded stepchild" of Fox.[1] The Hollywood Reporter's James Hibbard wrote prior to its cancellation that Mad TV had been "like a distant cousin of [Fox's] other programming" during its runtime; David Nevins, Fox's former executive vice president of programming, attributed the lack of promotion to Fox focusing on advertising its new prime time series instead.[14][11] Fox executives and Mad TV's showrunners often shot down sketch ideas that were viewed admirably by the staff writers, who wanted the show to be "edgy".[1][15] Mad TV was partially intended to compete with fellow late-night sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live,[16] which, at the time of Mad TV's debut, was being poorly received by critics.[17] However, SNL quickly bounced back and Mad TV typically trailed behind the show in ratings.[1]"
@Ms._Carriage I never found SNL funny...only the occasional skit. Mad TV was consistently hilarious in its heyday. The last few seasons, the writing sucked; it reached its pinnacle during its mid-years.
Man I love that song at the end. That would be such a good hit single. Kind of surprising people don't respond usually when they get messy. But it's so dang funny.
I preferred this over the later crazier Kenny Rogers skits. Will's impression here actually resembles Kenny Rogers, while the later ones were just some drunk hillbilly cartoon character.
Funny cos what I understood is that this is the way a drunk person in a good mood, or someone on drugs, would perceive reality. He wrecks things and everyone laughs and then everyone loves him and comes to listen when he sings, not quite the way it would truly go down.
