the Vocal USAGE, I.E. how they USE the vocals, the type of vocals used, the effects used to distort vocals followed by synths etc. Things that compliment it. This is Liquid Trance, which infused both Trance (very melodic) and Liquid (Still has the underlying Liquid feel).

True Liquid Drum & Bass derives from the style of Hybrid Minds, Calibre, etc. This is more liquid trance due to the vocal usage, the synths, the basslines and more of a less minimalist feel.

Loving the spirit in Obama's speech, it just gave me the same boosting, inspiring feeling as back in 2008. Absolutely agree. Honestly, I liked every netsky song, Pre "2". He's turned away from making liquid dnb, and just general dnb to cater for the people who enjoy Dubstep (which arguably have a larger audience, but in my opinion isnt better). He is also in a band now, meaning his "beats" aren't his beats. It is a group collaboration, rather the just netsky, which i disagree with. As you said if he continues like this, i won't be a fan, at least not as much as i was 6 months ago before "2".

So then what would you say to someone who asked for something by 'old Netsky'? What year would you say that 'old Netsky' is? ca. ??? Or name some songs/albums/EPs by 'old Netsky' if you'd be so kind. Now to put this into perspective, i've heard a great deal of things regarding Netsky, as well as lots of controversy surrounding 'new Netsky" and how he doesn't spend as much time polishing, "has lost his touch", and such... I kind of want to compare the two and examine the (d)evolution of Netsky..

I don't think the fact that Netsky is making money means we should be happy about the way his music has progressed. Selling out is always a massive shame, when it does happen, but I don't think Netsky has sold out at all, he is still producing the music he loves. Sure his tracks now aren't the same as the tracks from his early years, but would you really want them to be? Artists who never experiment never progress, if you're a fan of the old Netsky, listen to the old Netsky!

I'm one of those people who say "I think old Netsky was better"' because he isn't spending as much time in his songs as he used to (it sound that way), and you can hear that. it's too much repetition. And I don't like that. but if more people like his music as it is right now, I'm happy for him. But you won't see me in the audience, if there is a better performance at the same time. And I don't care if he makes a lot of money, it's the music that matters, always has been and always will be!

No man, this is definitely a sub-genre of drum n bass, the bassline matches that of dnb, with the same generic rhythm. A trance bassline would be much more synthetic and fast paced. I find associating genres correctly important, but i wont go deeper on this. It's a great song btw.

I agree, the "old" netsky, or the netsky before the album "2", had his own style, tracks such as Lost in this world and Smile, were ones that stood out for me, I'd never heard anything so good. But it seems with his new album, which isn't exactly bad, it's just too generic.

a genre is not determined by vocals, vocals can be used in any genre house trance fidget dirty dutch electro dubstep hardstyle jump jungle etc etc dnb is determined by the drum percussion regardless of whatever instrument and melody is decided to be used

I really don't understand how "an artist making more money" equals "an artist making the same kind music". I think it's usually the other way around, changing style a bit, so they can attract another audience and make more money.

Netsky tried new things, unfortunately they were things that werent very good. If he had just expanded on his sound he would still be awesome. He is really good in the mix though.

he didn't quite get the sub-genres right. Liquid Funk, Jungle, Liquid Jazzstep (actually called loungecore), and Drumstep are actually sub-genres of Drum and Bass.

Netsky should be making these tunes, not Maduk. But he turned shit. So I'm glad somebody is keeping liquid alive. Because Netsky is trying to kill it I think
