We Beheld Once Again the Stars (Riveder le Stelle) by Z. Randall Stroope. The fourth song of the Philippine Madrigal Singers at the European Grand Prix.
MADZ's selection of this song piece was the 'tour de force' of their performance. It had everything the judges would want to hear from the 'pianos' to the 'fortes' requiring a double choir, yet the ensemble was only about 20 people. I wouldn't be surprised if the judges were silently stunned by their powerful rendition. Kaya nga double champion sila and they are now feared by other competitors. A tough act to follow especially for incoming new MADZ members. Kudos and more power to MADZ...
When I was a freshman in high school (2004) I was part of the choir that debuted this piece under Stroope's direction. This is wonderful! I love the interpretation. Just wanted to share how much I liked it. Brought back great memories.
This 2007 grand prix's really great. Vesna Children Choir, Taipei Chamber Choir and Philippine Madrigal Singers showed an excellent singing. They're all worth to become a champion. But Mads with this song, a masterpiece, not only shows ultimate difficulty in singing but also a beauty. They deserve the winning.

Im a choir enthusiast but I never had these incredible goose bumps every time hear them (Madz) sing this masterpeice Riveder le Stelle The composer will refer you to this performance as a the world standard! Hundreds of renditions were made but this 2007 European Grand Prix champion is incomparable. A very complex and hard piece to pull but they made it so effortless and they sang from heart which makes one cry
I feel the same way too! I've been listening to this recording since the results of the competition were released in 2007. I miss this batch of the Madz.
When I first heard this, goosebumps suffused my entire body and I proceeded to rape the replay button. Then I read the lyrics and the story. I went to listen to it again and couldn't stop crying. "It is a story about Dante, the Pilgrim, and his trials and tribulations as he journeyed from the Inferno (hell), on to Purgatory, and finally to Paradiso (heaven). His travel is full of danger and adventure, but he is absolutely dedicated to reaching "the supreme light" (Paradiso)."

grabe, i started listening to this song when i was in my 2nd year in high school, ngayong 1st yr college na ako, hindi pa rin nakakasawang pakinggan tong kanta na to, cguro kahit matanda na ako hindi pa rin ako magsasawang pakinggan ito!
i love watching Madz sing.. all other (non-Madz) versions of Riveder Le Stelle were always lacking the human touch. I am watching this again now at 08 Sep 2019 . :D

Definitely correct! I've seen his website too. Can't believe that I started watching this perhaps 2010 and i can't stop watching this for a number of times and been playing on my iPod for a number of times too!
I first heard them when I was at ccp but, I was a member of a string ensemble that time. They made me realise where I should be. Now, I'm part of a prestigious choir. And I'm thankful that They made me hear such wonderful music. Thank you Madz! Shout out kay ate bianca na lab na lab ko whoo!
Still watching this heavenly piece in 2019! If I want to escape and feel the heavens and the angels sing.... put the headphone on and let the Phil Madz Singer bring me there.... I’m so peaceful and feel like I’m closer to our Creator!
6 people have serious hearing and appreciation problem. madz this is one of the greatest performances i have seen in my life (here on youtube or anywhere else). this inspires me in so many ways.
This choir piece is intended for two full choirs and they are only 24 ! They sounded like hundreds and legions of angels providing light and comfort to humanity
ah...that overtone! i remember our discovery through recordings dun sa mainit na dorm na tinulugan natin..yeah, the altos come in after the all-male part...2:21 (that's what i meant--hehe)

OMG it has been so long since I have heard this song! TBH -- I might sound a little too judgmental, but this is my favorite piece they have ever done, and everything else, well, not like this! ha ha
z randall stroope is an amazing man.....he's cool.. i met him once along with other people so I didnt really talk to him...... he makes music that can make you cry....like I am not yours
