Mae Timbimboo Parry started writing down the stories of the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation when she was in high school. A powerful and charismatic storyteller, Mae reached audiences from local elementary schools to the White House. Her work to share Shoshone history from the Shoshone perspective lives on today as the tribe moves forward with plans for the Boa Ogoi Cultural & Interpretive Center.
Darren Parry is a former chair of the NWB Shoshone and Mae Timbimboo Parry's grandson. He spoke about her legacy as a storyteller, historian, and matriarch. The Women's History Initiative at the Utah Division of State History hosted this Women's History Month talk on March 15, 2023.
