I also feel like this deck won’t do much until you can actually play Maelstrom wanderer, and unless you got lucky with the ramping it seems it wouldn’t be very soon.
Love Wanderer, been playing him for 3 years now. Honestly, the deck can be really goodstuffy so there isn't much I can say beyond "Play lots of ramp, some top of the deck manipulation and your favorite big stompy stuff". I Should note that both Rishkar's Expertise and Return of the WIldspeaker are really bad if you cascade on them without any creatures on board, and that's usually the case when you cast Wanderer for the first time in a game, so I do not run them in my build. I also do not run anything that can be a blank cascade. 8 Mana for a 7/5 Haste Enabler that cascades twice is good, 8 mana for the same thing but it only cascades once or not at all, sucks. Garruk, Primal Hunter is a better draw spell for Maelstrom Wanderer, so is Greater Good since it can also be used to put Wanderer back on the command zone. I'd run those before any possible blank cascades. EDIT: Just had a look at your list, seems solid. But I would remove Deflect Swat, Fierce Guardianship and Trap Essence, all blank cascades, if you really want to run counterspells, go for Modal ones like Mystic Confluence since they aren't blank cascades. Life's Legacy is also a blank cascade without any creatures on board. Another 2 or 3 Ramp Spells would not be bad either. Landfall effects are always good in Wanderer to make use of all the ramp, Field of the Dead is a easy include in a 3 color deck. I go back and forth about Triumph of the Hordes in my build since it is a possible blank cascade a lot of the times, but if drawn out of the deck it's very, very strong, but that is a single card. I recomend against running multiple cards that are possible blank cascades.
Here is a better approach to maelstrom wanderer in 2023: Cascade 1: apocalypse. Exile all permanents, including lands Cascade 2: who cares Maelstrom resolves last with no other permanents in play Gg
I played agnist this once, they guy ending cascading in to with minds dilation, koma, sakashmia protegry, terror of the peaks avenger of zendicar , tender shoot driad, and warpstorm surge by flickering and hitting other cascade cards while cascading.
@danieldragotti2608 A lot of creatures in the deck can take advantage of etbs with flicker. Unfortunately, flicker or copying spells doesn't work with the wanderers' ability of cascading because it's a cast trigger
I feel like some people get cascade ability very wrong. Its a cast trigger, not a etb. Also, casting wanderer for 10 of commander taxes does not change his mana value. He will always cascade for 7 or less.
