Ranjit ji is fantastic and inspiring....there's no doubt about that.......How I wonder no one appreciated the mridangam vidvaan Sridhar Parthasarathy...he's a genius who has played with almost all starwarts of Indian classical carnatic & fusion music and has received many laurels and accolades. My pranaam 🙏 to you Sridhar ji

One of them for sure. I love Barot, but I love Trilok Gurtu, he's more unique in his approach to both tabla and a drum set. But both are unbelievable players.

I think his native language makes it so much easier to perform such smooth, quick rhythmic speech compared to a westerner, who would have a much more difficult time learning how to do this. Oh, and props to Meastro Ranjit Barot for obvious chops! You guys are awesome, and this sounds great. I would've loved to be there to see for myself. Also love the Sonor drums, as well as the drum set-up. Great taste all around!

He was most likely trained when he was a little kid, that's typically when they start to learn how to sing Konokol. To them, it's like learning how to count 1e&a, 2e&a, etc. if you want to be a musician. It's just something you have to take the time to learn. The syllables are pretty easy. Ta Ka Di Mi, etc. There are standard rhythms they learn and then it's a matter of coming up with new variations. What they are doing is mimicing the different sounds with the different ways to make a sound on a tabla. The Tabla masters can sing a long set of patterns that are improvised and then play the exact same thing on the tabla. Westerners are just not exposed to it because you have to find a teacher to teach you this, but there are books on the market if you really want to learn.

Don't be silly about native language! Drums and drumming, as you know, have a special language of their. Its written in the notes, which are Universal by now. s'what's your deal? Just blathering or wot? Misbegott?
@indrajitmajumdar8590
@indrajitmajumdar8590 6 лет назад
Its not a language.... Its how you count, 1 2 3, 1 2 3 etc. Its like the syllables for octaves in South Indian classical music from (carnetic). The fat boy also incorporates it into the song. Its called konakol. The similar thing in North Indian classical music from (Hindustani) is sargam. sa, re, ga, ma, pa, dha, ni, sa.

Simple odd time, most are either 3/2 or 2/3 like latin music, if you have trouble with odd time, just follow the lead player and sub-divide in your head and LISTEN, drummers should have huge ears! Right now i'm mixing this with 432 hz healing frequency here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4wtG01ymIjE.html

+derick craft Ranjit Barot stands on his own! Used to see him often in Mumbai in 80s. He's a diffrent musician now, way more profound. Yet he caries his ccomplishment very lightly! You known he's composed the music for a popular Tamil movie in the 90s! What a marvel! He's done his mother, the Immortal Dancer Sitara Devi, proud!

Dear Mr. Rajit, Excure my impertinence please. But, as a westerner, I invite you to form a band similar to that of Sade's. Yes, you will have to tone down the tak a deh, deh deh stuff, in favor of simple melodies. But the rewards of western fusion success wiill outweigh any perceived slights. Guaranteed. Come with your simplest music... and enjoy the results for as long as you can!

The fact that you don’t know how IMPORTANT these “tak a deh” are, proves that how little knowledge you have about this legendary drummer.
